Hitman E-savy...

4 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,

I'm new to the site, but not to R/C. I've heard great things about this site and wanted to be a part of it.

This is my E-Savage running:

GCMachine RoadBoy BL chassis
SuperGlide ball-bearing steering setup
HPI Hellfire wing and mount
HPI E-Firestorm CF shock towers (doubled up)
Proline 40 Series Wabash rims (painted black with Krylon Fusion)
Proline 40 Series RoadRage tires
All bearing has been cleaned and lubed with synthetic oil... Smooth
Diffs all shimmed and tight
JConcepts Revo 3.3 HD Illuzion body
RPM E-Savage bumper mounts w/ RPM Revo black bumpers

Hope you like it.

Trying to decide on what motor setup to run. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me if running two 13X3 and 8 cells... will get this beast going at a decent rate?

Welcome to the forum Satayo!

nice looking ride, why didn;t you picked the phaltline tires? you could have dyed the chrome black on these tremor rimms.

do you have a budget? if you can afford $250 I would go with a Neu..with a Savage you could go with a 1515 can the windings depending on the voltage you will be using...some have used a 1521 but I would stay away from that unless you are prepared to invest in drivetrain upgrades especially diffs

SATAYO 06.25.2008 12:48 PM

Serum,

I picked the Proline combo b/c that's what I had... I like the Phaltline setup but used what I already had... might try them sometime.

azjc,

As far as budget goes... if I'm going to spend around $250, I'd like to get a motor and speedo to run it for that price... thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind.

TruckBasher,

Thanks for the comments.

How about the 1515 1y on 5s with a MMM? Might be out of budget, but it would scream. (:lol:A screaming savage)

than a Medusa or Feigao are your options with a MMM

Topspeedtimmy 06.25.2008 02:39 PM

I'd recommend a Feigao 10XL on 5s lipo with the MMM, for a fast 40-45mph setup. That motor and speed control would only cost you $260-280.

SATAYO 06.25.2008 02:53 PM

I see you guys really like the Mamba Max Monster... that is what MMM is referring to correct?

Yes...and Castle products are the way to go as far as trouble free use and they have the best operating SW...they have had issues with the MMM mostly due to a new release and they are working hard to correct the problems

SATAYO 06.25.2008 03:03 PM

So I can get myself into a MMM and a Meduas motor for around $250?

BTW, what does SW mean... may be a dumb question, sorry.

-ST

azjc 06.25.2008 03:57 PM

software...and the MMMs are backordered and will be released once the problem is fixed the word is by the end of July

SATAYO 06.25.2008 04:02 PM

Gotcha... for the life of me I could not figure SW out... sorry for the display of stupidity...

Since the MMM is on back order... what's your input on running the brushed motor setup in my first post...?

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.25.2008 05:55 PM

Very nice, would be one of the best E-Savages I have seen

suicideneil 06.25.2008 07:01 PM

Brushed motors... I had some of those once.... :)

I'd be inclined to say a pair of 550 sized motors rather than 540s, otherwise you are looking at very high temps trying to push a ~10lb truck. I wont say titans though, but instead maybe something from Kershawdesigns, like the 650 or 700HO motors, he also sells suitable motor mounts for the larger diameter 700H0 motors, nice guy to deal with apparently (Like RC-Monster... but in a shed).

rckcrwlr 06.25.2008 07:52 PM

Satayo,
What's up guy??? Funny seeing you here.

Hey rig looks good.

I have 5S Lipo and 10XL Feigao motor sitting here with your name on it...and maybe even a MMM...

Are you heading to MJ9 in August????

Take care man...and I am still waiting for you to show up at one of the Rock Crawling Comps...

Take care,
John

SATAYO 06.25.2008 09:10 PM

Hey John,

I will be at MJ9... LMK what you may have... email me.

Hey Satayo I suggest go brushless with your setup im running a Mamba max with a medusa 36-50-3300 and couldnt be happyier tons of power im running it off of 14 cells.
I wouldnt go to much power in the e-savage or your asking for drivetrain issues. With the setup im running I have a problem keeping the stub axels from breaking I have even upgraded them to tmaxx ones (just need to do a brearing swap).
you could be all setup for less than $250 and have longer running times vs upgrading your brushed motors

droopy 06.26.2008 12:01 AM

I just noticed your shock towers what are those can you post some close up picks? Is that a hellfire wing mount brakets on there?

Droopy,

I was told the MM was not intended for 1/10 4WD applications... I agree, I don't want too much power, I want to race this... but under control and smooth.

I updated my first post, but yes, that is a Hellfire wing and wing mount. The shock towers are MT2 CF units, doubled up.

suicideneil 06.26.2008 11:09 AM

MM motors are no good for 1/10MT use, but the esc is a little beauty on 4s lipo- just use an external BEC/ Rx pack to power the servos, and maybe a small fan.

droopy 06.26.2008 09:13 PM

I have been running my MM on 14 cells in my e-savy for over a year now without a single issue. as suicideneil said its the MM motors that shouldnt be used on 1/10 Monster trucks the shafts will just snap.

TruckBasher 06.27.2008 12:29 AM

Droopy, you must have a good setup. But a high KV motor like MM (lowest 4600) will really run hot. Most setup for Monster Truck are low KV and High Voltage specially for a 13-15lbs truck. IMO

droopy 06.27.2008 01:02 AM

here is my setup
MM esc
cc bec
14 cells ep 4200 or maxamps 4700's
Medusa 36-50-3300
18t pinion
roadboy chassis
proline bowties on max offset rims
shortened revo drive shafts
Dog bone center driveshafts
spektrum dx 3.0
Here is my temps on last run esc 97 deg, motor 94 deg , batts 109 deg
I just run the MM esc not there motor there motors just wont hold up in a heavy truck
I was thinking about useing the medusa 36-60-2000 in the esavy but after seeing how much power it has in my x1-crt it is to much motor for the savy drivetrain the 50mm long works great in there.

SATAYO 06.27.2008 01:08 AM

Droopy,

Can you send me some pics of you shortened Revo shaft setup...?

I would great appreciate it...

TruckBasher 06.27.2008 02:02 AM

Droppy, Niel is pertaining to CC Motor that comes with the MM....It was a misunderstanding I guess.... If you read carefully he said "MM Motors" not "MM ESC"...so bith are correct

killjoyken 06.29.2008 01:07 PM

Hey droopy, is your MM a new one or old one. I managed to pop the caps on one of my MMs trying to run on 14 cells. It was the only MM (out of 5) that I managed to kill. It would run all day on 12 cell or 4s lipo, but on 14 cells it stuttered for a bit then went "poof".

14 cells or 5s lipo is hit or miss with the MM.

I dont realy recomend a revo shafty setup due to the fact that the revo shaft diameter you have to grind the ears that your shocks mount to so you have to relocate your mount points to the ouside of the arms, You also have to use your stock ends from the e-savy and put them on to the revo shafts there is some slop there so I made small plasic shimms the next problem is the pins on the revo shfts are longes so I found you have to cut them then hammer it a little to flair the ends to keep them in place.
I have not broken a revo shaft but the stub axels or the input side are prone to snapping.I have even switched to tmaxx stubs wich only reqire a bearing switch (2.5 model)
I recomend to completely switch to the 2.5 tmaxx or e-maxx shafts but you will still need to use your stock end that hooks to the diffs since tmaxx are 6mm and e-savy are 5mm.

Im not to shure my MM is about 1 year old now and im not to shure when castle swiched some of there components , what is the easyest way to tell?

SATAYO 06.30.2008 05:17 AM

Thanks for the heads-up Droopy... I planned on switching to Maxx shafts and stubs already... so I am on the right track.
