I like the warning!

George16 07.01.2008 08:47 PM

I think I'll order them since Tower is also offering the $30 off of any purchases above $224.

Arct1k 07.01.2008 08:51 PM

Traitor! :) Patience Mike will come through for you...

MTBikerTim 07.01.2008 08:54 PM

I have a $60 voucher here. it's very tempting

I know :intello:. That's why I asked in the other thread if Mike will be taking pre-orders so I can order mine. I'm still debating if I should buy a Mugen MBX5T or a Losi 8T :whistle:.

MTBikerTim 07.01.2008 09:04 PM

I think I am going to stick the combo in my buggy. I just need to get mike to make me the mount.

Finnster 07.01.2008 10:12 PM

Wow that's cheap... less than a 1515 was a year ago.

i preordered a MMM, got a real Neu for it tho. We'll have to see how they compare

magman 07.01.2008 10:14 PM

What to do.........spend more money:whistle:

Arct1k 07.01.2008 10:18 PM

PS CC link 3.1 out but isn't a "car" release

TruckBasher 07.01.2008 10:29 PM

I hope Mike takes pre-order...I want one too :)

MTBikerTim 07.01.2008 10:36 PM

Yes a mike pre-order would be good. I asked about this in an e-mail I sent on the weekend. Haven't heard back yet.

JThiessen 07.01.2008 11:23 PM

Dont get your hopes up. I've had the MMM on order from Tower for almost 2 months now.

Yup thats because MMM is being redesigned in the last few months and Patrick just confirmed that loading of software to MMM is being tested now. If all goes well then 2 week should be good news for those who have MMM for repair and 3rd-4th should be for pre-order. If the stock will last up to pre-orders :diablo:

I dont think Tower is the only one with delays...my preorder is also about 2months now on another supplier...

Lets just all hope for the best....and get CC release the Neu Motor combo out late July

DRIFT_BUGGY 07.02.2008 05:55 AM

OMG, what a cheap price.

lol, why did you get that from?

lincpimp 07.02.2008 09:40 AM

Latest issue of RCCA has a full page ad showing the MMM and a green finned can motor. Lists specs for both and says "shipping now".

brushlessboy16 07.02.2008 09:48 AM

scan it for us

gixxer 07.02.2008 03:13 PM

thats awesome news. to bad I just bought a 1515 3d. I also paid more then that for just the motor after you account for tower codes.

Finnster 07.02.2008 03:27 PM

That price is so rediculously low. There is no way Neu can sell a "Neu" quality motor for what amts to $50. I'm sure they will be good, but damn, Neu can't undercut itself out of business. There has to be a catch somewhere.

gixxer 07.02.2008 03:30 PM

well by the difference on tower it looks to be about $120. That puts it in medusa price range. Now if they only had different rpm motors. 6s on the 1y would be way to much for me.

JeffEmbracedDC 07.03.2008 01:31 PM

Here's the issue:

Jeff - Thanks

lincpimp 07.03.2008 01:45 PM

Thanks Jeff, I do not have a scanner :-(

cornolio 07.03.2008 01:54 PM

:gasp:if this system will work, you can say bye bye to nitro.i hope it doesnt turn out to be "too good to be true"

TexasSP 07.03.2008 02:32 PM

I don't think bye bye nitro but novak is going to take a kick in the pants!

Hopefully mike will chime in soon with prices. Right now I just want the motor to try out.

blueb8llz 07.03.2008 06:03 PM

do you guys think the motor will sell out like the mmm? im not talking bout the package deal but just the motor itself? and do you think CC will sell the motor itself when it gets released, or will they sell as a package only first, because i only need the motor, i have the mmm already and it would suck if they only sell in packages first, because im sure alot of people that have the mmm already, want just the motor too.

captain harlock 07.03.2008 06:26 PM

For your information, everyone, the CC Neu motors are being manufactured in chaina. I do not think they are hand built, and I also do not think they incorporate segmented magnets like the ones available directly from Neu itself. All of these things were done to take down the prices of these motors by leaps and pounds.

The " Real" Neus are way better and more expensive than the CC ones. The CC ones are meant for the general public and those who aren't willing to get the original under license from Neu.

Should probably wait until we run one to make a comment like that ;). It's true, the castle NEU's will be machine wound. I had not read that the rotor will not be segmented, so that's the first I've heard of that. All that I was able to find was that the castle neu's would be the same design but machine wound to save on production costs and provide a less expensive product while retaining high quality design.

J.

F7Rider 07.03.2008 06:34 PM

The castle "neu" also has some upgrades vs. the original, Like larger bearings, sealed endbells and I believe there were others. I'm sure someone will chime in with the complete list of upgrades.

Dagger Thrasher 07.03.2008 07:35 PM

AFAIK, Patrick did list the downgrades in the Castle Neu compared to a genuine Neu...and I don't think he mentioned anything about the rotor not being segmented. The motors will obviously be machine wound, and he also said that the rotor won't be carbon-wrapped (it was going to be, but apparently carbon fibre right now is expensive), though that won't really affect much. There might have been one or two other changes too, but I can't remember exactly.
The upgrades will be nice though, as F7Rider said. Larger bearings, sealed endbellsand a tougher can with a screw-together design. Should be sweet!

The proof is in the pudding though, so there's no way of knowing how good this lump will be until we test it! I get the feeling that Castle are really going to pull the rabbit out of the hat this time, though.

captain harlock 07.03.2008 07:36 PM

I said " I do not think.." so yes, I might be wrong, too. However, the possibility is still big that we wont see a segmented rotor in a CC Neu motor.

That's cool, sorry if I came over like I was saying you're definitely wrong. I might be wrong!

MTBikerTim 07.03.2008 07:50 PM

The CC ad says it will have a sintered neo magnet. If that doesn't mean it's segmented then I doubt it will be segmented or it would say so on the ad.

Wheres Chaina?

The "Castle Neu" motors will be build in Castle's Chinese facility, under license from Steve Neu, and we are currently waiting on magnets to arrive from our magnet supplier in China to build the final prototypes and get the production line started. The "Authentic Neu" motors are built in Steve Neu's facility in San Diego. The differences between the motors were mostly to make the CC motor better suited for RC car use -- the "Authentic" Neu motors were designed for airplane and heli use originally, which calls for lightest possible weight.

#1: Authentic Neu motors have carbon fiber wound rotors, the Castle Neu motors will not have a carbon wound rotor. (We tried, but Carbon Fiber is so rare right now we just couldn't procure enough carbon for production... but we have found in testing that the carbon wound rotors aren't significantly stronger, they just protect the stator better when the rotor fails, so we decided to move forward without a carbon wound rotor.)
#2: Castle Neu motors have a completely different case, which is better suited to RC car use (better seals on front and rear bearings, more heat sink area, heavier and stiffer construction.)
#3: Castle Neu motors have larger front bearings to handle RC car loads better than the Neu motors
#4: Castle Neu motors have high flex 10ga silicone wires exiting the case, instead of winding wires (better suited to very high vibration environments.)

Thanx!

Patrick

TruckBasher 07.03.2008 08:33 PM

I hope CC would lend some of the guys here at RCM some prototype for testing to avoid having to go over the dilemma of MMM. Most of the heavy basher/extreme racers can be found here

ncnguyen123 07.03.2008 09:04 PM

what the heck! did tower just raise the price of the combo now to $349. Wasn't it less last week?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVHA5&P=7

MTBikerTim 07.03.2008 09:06 PM

sick of everyone hitting them with $60 vouchers probably.

TexasSP 07.03.2008 09:23 PM

That is just another reason to buy from mike instead.

Yep, that sounds like Tower. After everything that happened with the MMM, Mike came out with the best deal and left it till last
