New Car project, with budget.

Hello.

I have been created one E-Revo, and it was quite funny car. Now I am looking for good project, because I sold that car out.

What ideas you guys have to high power brusshles project, if my budget is: 1500$ .

I have been think about cheap LiPo packs, like 5000mAh 20-30C 4S or 5S packs. That car would be 1:8 car, so it can be monster, truggy or buggy.

Any ideas ?

I have been take a look of Mamba Max monster and some radios, but I dont know what car would be good for my project.

E-Revo is not very fast at all, but buggy should be good for fast car project. I love to build cars, so building is not problem. I can use some tools and dremel offcorse if needed, if there is good car for modify.

Motor & ESC ideas ?

Any ideas are wellcome: electrics ideas, battery ideas, motor ideas and car ideas.

Is those Zippy LiPo packs worth it: www.hobbycity.com ? They looks good but they are VERY cheap packs, are they safely packs ?

Thanks for all who want to answer.

convert a motorcycle. the thunder tiger electric version would be cool.

E-Revolution 07.08.2008 02:29 PM

Nah, I want car =) . Bike is not my thing, yet.

you said yet, there is still a chance.
Well at 1500 you could almost choose anything you want. I have always loved the Kyosho ST-RR. Well actually the ST-R but the ST-RR is suppose to be even better. It is a pricey truggy but IMO it is worth every penny.

BL_RV0 07.08.2008 02:38 PM

Hyper ST or a 808.

E-Revolution 07.08.2008 02:53 PM

Okay. What car is that "808" ? It sounds like tamiya ? Or what it is ? Kyosho is good, but the part prices are higest I know.

bl-is-future 07.08.2008 02:56 PM

parts are pricey but you have to break em to replace em. I believe the 808 is an Xray

E-Revolution 07.08.2008 02:59 PM

Okay. What you guys think about HoBao Hyper ST truggy ? It looks good and its not too pricey. Where I should buy it ? I can buy it from anywhere =) .

bl-is-future 07.08.2008 03:02 PM

good choice. Buy it from where you find it the cheapest. Others can chime in on where that may be.

Okay. What about the "electrics" ? What would be good motor & ESC to that car ? Those Zippy LiPos are cheap packs, but when I readed some comments in there forums, all peoples said that they are fine packs- If I dont buy them , I will take Polyquest or Maxamps maybe.

So, I dont know what motor and ESC I will buy, and how much voltages do I use. 4S would be good start ?

Thanks for every answers ! This is great place to ask help :) .

if you are doing 4s go with a 1515 1y. I run a 1y on 5s and it is awesome. The MMM should be back in production real quick so i would go with that. Now i am iffy on the zippys, i to am debating on buying some. They are cheap that is for sure.

Yeah. But I dont find ANY neu motors and ANY Zippy packs on stock... So, where I can get those things if anything that I try to find is "Out Of Stock"... That why I am not using rc-monster shop. Mike wont reply my e-mail messages and no one care that I cant get any things from any shops. I live in Finland so I cant use nesail webshop.

Sad.

bl-is-future 07.08.2008 03:30 PM

you order the neu form castle creations and it takes about 2-3 weeks max to get it. They build to order! the zippys i am not sure. You could always go trackpower but they are 119 for a 2s and you need 2 for 4s.

E-Revolution 07.08.2008 03:39 PM

Neu from Castle Creations ? But I dont think so they are giving motor like Neu 1515 1Y .

I need -> 2000Kv motor, so less than 2000 is not very good thing if we think good speed.

bl-is-future 07.08.2008 03:41 PM

http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...rs/nm1500.html
scroll down and click build it. Choose the KV you want but i would go at least a 1512 but 1515 is better.

bl-is-future 07.08.2008 03:47 PM

Better yet here you go not the 1y but still 2050kv and a 1515 and you can support mike

Okay. No matthew are they "Out Of Stock" in castle creations website too ? And, they will make that motor & ESC combo I want ?

----

answer to new message: Which one is better, 2.5D from rc-monster or 1Y from castle ?

----

One more questions, what post service do I use if I want to order those things to Finland ( EU-country ) ?

I have been send my messages to Mike with e-mail, but he haven't been reply for me... I dont know hy. I asked about MMM, but I will ask for Neu motors if he will give me an answer for my MMM problem.

Thanks very much, I am very glad because you guys help me :) .

Can't order it that fast, but I will buy one later :) . I can offcourse order it from castle too, or anywhere else but not for few days :S . Still, thanks for tips ;) .

Looks like MMM and Neu 2.5D or 1Y is my choises, I think. And I will buy Zippy Lipos or something, if I found them or if I see them on stock soon.

If MMM and Neu is out of stock or can't get them, I look something else. MGM would be good too, but so good motor than Neu is hard to find.

I will hear any choises still, help is welcome :P

HoBao Hyper ST question is still open, I don't know what car to buy yet, but I will think many choises.

MANY thanks to you guys, I am helpless without you all:lol:

Buy it from www.ultimatehobbies.com
They have it for $425

bl-is-future 07.08.2008 05:44 PM

the 2.5 is good for 5s but the 1y is ballistic on 5s. so if you run 4s i would get the 1y. If you run 5s i would still get the 1y but others will say 2.5 cause it will rev lower. Seriously how often are you at full throttle. And these motors max at 60k and the 1y with 5s is no where near that so i say 1y either way.

E-Revolution 07.09.2008 04:12 AM

Thank you. So, 2.5D would be good enough too with 4S LiPo packs ? If I can't get Neu 1515 1y I would buy 2.5D .

Waiting for answers, I hope Mike will reply to me.

- E-revolution.

bl-is-future 07.09.2008 08:26 AM

4s - 1y
5s - 2.5d (good), 1y (better)
6s - 2.5d

so that is the chart to follow depending on cell count you will use.

E-Revolution 07.09.2008 10:55 AM

I didn't find any Hobao products in ultimatehobbies webstore. Are you meaning "Ofna" ? Its allmost as HoBao, they make 90% same cars.

I would use 4S LiPos first, sometimes maybe 6S. So, 2.5D is maybe good for me. I will buy MMM for sure, if Mike reply to me.

Those stuffs in that Hyper ST car are not usefull, if I buy RTR-car, I will sell motor and some other worthless items.

- E-Revolution.

bl-is-future 07.09.2008 10:59 AM

if you plan on going to 6s just go with the 2.5d than.

Arct1k 07.09.2008 11:01 AM

My ST - I used a 2.5

E-Revolution 07.09.2008 11:06 AM

Oh, now I find that Hyper ST. Looks good, not bad price and cheap parts :) .

E-Revolution 07.09.2008 02:47 PM

No answers by Mike.. Where is he ? Just wondering.

droopy 07.09.2008 11:37 PM

As far as lipo power goes try true-rc out im running one its great has just as much quality as a maxamps at 1/2 the price. If you cant find a Neu motor check out Medusa v2 motors they are very close to a neu thay are just machine wound not hand wound but have tons of power, no problem standing up my X1-CRT on 5s (they would also make a great backup motor to a Neu)

E-Revolution 07.10.2008 12:45 AM

Yeah, I will watch out those things asap. Yeah, medusa v2 looks like powerfull too, but I am not sure what do I get, because everything good stuff is "out of stock" always:no: . But now I must to go back in a work, I will read new messages in few hours.

E-Revolution 07.11.2008 01:06 PM

Hello. What would be best voltage to truggy ? 4S, 5S, 6S ? I am thinking that 6S is too much, but what about 5S LiPo:s ? They are so cheap in china, so I can buy every kind of LiPo:s .

bl-is-future 07.11.2008 01:13 PM

depends on what style driving you want.

Racing - 4s
bashing - 5s
speed demon running - 6s

azjc 07.11.2008 01:19 PM

I just bought a Zippy 6s 4150 R pack for $130 shipped, I havnt run it yet but they use Korean cells in the R packs so I am hoping for close to FP performance. Are you looking at having more of an on road car, I transformed my Rustler into an on road car and you can get over 60mph, mine on 4s is around 70mph, they dont handle that well especially at that speed, I also have an 1/18 scale RC18 on 3s that is pretty fast I am thinking about a 4s upgrade......:-)

this is a link to the R pack I bought, they are also available in 2 and 3s

jhautz 07.11.2008 01:20 PM

I race my truggy with 5s and a Neu 1515/2.5D (1650kv) motor. Absolutly ove it. Runs coold and powerful. BTW: this is the same combo Monster Mike races in his truggy.

I vote for the 5s with an apropriately chosen kv motor.

if you buy a 1515/2.5d you will want to run it on 6s, anything less and you will be disappointed...especially since you think a Revo is too slow, I have a Revo that is good for over 50mph run it mostly in football and baseball fields

E-Revolution 07.11.2008 01:35 PM

Okay :D . But, why doesn't Mike give me an answers ? I am going crazy soon if he do not reply to me.. Btw. those hobbycity LiPo:s are maybe cheapest good LiPo packs ever :P . I am looking for charger, batterys and wires in hobbycity, they are all very low priced.

Thanks for very good answers, you guys are awesome :D .

I wouldnt buy a charger from Hobby City, I am ok with lipos but thats it from them, I would suggest a Hyperion charger

Mike is a very busy man. He can only do so much. He will not answer a thread unless it is titled for him or something that affects his business. I would rather it be this way. That way orders are getting sent out fast and customer is at top notch. Mike is a great guy that is always willing to help. But if he does not know his help is needed he cant answer you. Send him an email and wait. Also, there are plenty of guys here that are willing to help and have great knowledge of these setups. Ask and you shall receive.

E-Revolution 07.11.2008 01:55 PM

Okay. I sended 2 messages to him. Yes, I know that he's busy man, but I think that he is great guy :) . I will wait for his reply.

tc3_racer_001 07.11.2008 07:28 PM

the icharger 10s one is supposed to be great. and a little cheaper than the hyperion one. that said, i chose the hyperion one as i can update it and it will have better resell value if i ever want to sell it.
