Fastlane Pede Extended arms

Are ther any cvd's that will fit fastlane extended arms for the stampede.

crazyjr 10.17.2005 06:47 AM

The electric stampede CVD's should work. the word extended only refers to the nitro model. according to fastlane themselves

coolhandcountry 10.17.2005 08:23 AM

Don't the stampede and rustler have the same parts pretty much? I thinking about a rustler myself. I may have same deliema.

MetalMan 10.17.2005 09:48 AM

The electric stampede and electric rustler do share a bunch of parts. The entire front and rear ends match up (except for the skidplates on the stampede and the upper deck on the rustler).

crazyjr 10.17.2005 02:23 PM

I may be wrong on that statement and i take it back.

I remember reading that somewhere, but i can't remember where.
So untill i find out for sure please ignore my previous post on this thread.

coolhandcountry 10.17.2005 02:29 PM

Okay. But what if you right crazy. I remeber a thread about that. What it about the all aluminum pede. It may have been in there.

EDIT
I found the answer.

Fastlane makes the extended arms and standard length arms for the stampede. I have mip cvd's which I had on my stampede until I purchased the extended arm conversion and found that the cvd's are too short.
I e-mailed fastlane and they said they were working on finding cvd's that would fit their extended arm's but they have not provided any updates so I'm still running with the stock sliders for now.
Thanks for your replies, I guess I'll check with them again and just stock up on the stock sliders for now.

coolhandcountry 10.17.2005 08:18 PM

Welcome to the forum rkman. Is there a way to make ones to fit. It may be a little more money. but if it fits and works it saves money over the stock liders that you keep buying. I don't know much about the stampede so I can't be much help.

measure from the knuckle to the center of the pin that you need. may be someone can tell you what will work. also if the mips are female or male coupler joints.

Does some one tell me how much wider the extended arms make the pede?

The stock pede mip cvd is 90.7 mm long dog bone. If you add the extra length of the extended arm you get the length dog bone to swap in.

RC-Monster Mike 10.17.2005 10:01 PM

FLM actually makes 3 sets of arms for the pede/rustlers. The nitro arms(shortest of the bunch), the electric arms(same actual arms as the extended nitro arms, but different turnbuckles) and the electric extended arms(widest of the bunch and no cvds to fit). I use the standard electric arms, which include wider front arms to use the same wheels on the front and rear.

RC-Monster Mike 10.17.2005 10:02 PM

Oh, and welcome to the forums!

crazyjr 10.18.2005 07:37 AM

Thanks, i thought there was a difference between nitro and electric

coolhandcountry 10.18.2005 07:55 AM

Hey mike. Can you swap the dog bones out with another mip dogbone to give you the right length? I just don't know what to look for.

RC-Monster Mike 10.18.2005 09:00 PM

probably could, Leroy, but I don't know which on to swap it with.

coolhandcountry 10.19.2005 05:55 PM

Could you give me some length mike. It would help. I look for it. I can then post the parts needed. I can even email you the parts and maybe you can get them and market them. The stock mip dog bone mip posted was 90.7 long. I just don't have a clue how much longer it needs to be.

joostin420 10.20.2005 11:54 AM

i have 4 sets of the FLM Stampede extended aluminum arms.

i purchased 2x sets labeled "Electric stampede extended aluminum arms." received 1x set in trade, which is identical.

now i received a full FLM electric rustler. the rear arms on this one are different, they are much wider, have braces at the end where the hub carriers are, and "fastlane machine" is engraved on them. so which version are these rear arms??? i will take some pics a little later. the front of the rustler is converted over to Nitro Rustler front c-hubs and knuckles.

i run the traxxas plastic slider shafts and steel output yokes on all. i have not twisted any of them as of yet (knock on wood), and i run some pretty hot setups:

1. SS5800 on 7cells.
2. hacker master comp. w/ lehner 5300 on 7cells.
3. schulze u-force 75 w/ lehner 5300 on 7cells.
4. Schulze 18.97 KWF w/ Nemisis 12s on 12cells (not completed yet - i do all of my own Carbon Fiber work) here is a preview of that one:

Hey Justin, this is a really nice Rustler!

Good job on the CF.

I bet it will rip! 12 cells in a rusty...wow.

OMG Justin, these are some of the best lookin' pede/rustlers that I have ever seen in the net!
I like this FLM chassis, but your CF is pure sweetness!
Niiiice RCs!

Serum 10.20.2005 05:03 PM

Where did you get that CF plates from? and yeah pede's! thats the best looking pede's i've seen too!!
Those rear knuckles, what brand are those? I'm interested in the speed? and what basic did you use? the 4200? looks like a REALLY small motor with those wide arms on..

joostin420 10.20.2005 06:23 PM

thanx guys, i cut all the CF myself with my designs.

lehner 5300 on 7cells is darn fast; i cant imagine what the Nemisis 12s on 12cells is going to be like - i dont think that 60mph will be too out of my reach.

here i will give you a rundown:

Stampede # 1 (novak SS5800 on 7 cells, 4" Integy Piggyback shocks now)
http://home.comcast.net/~joostin420/...4/site1229.JPG

Stampede # 2 (pictured already, lehner 5300 on 7 cells)

Rustler #1 (pictured already, Nemisis 12s on 12cells - not finished)

Rustler #2 (pictured already, lehner 5300 on 7 cells)

Some pics are missing Justin?

I meant ; where did you get the CF plate from?

Dafni 10.21.2005 01:46 AM

I can still see all pics, some are in the previous posts.

rkman 10.21.2005 07:55 AM

I've got an SS5800 as well and just broke my first slider at the connection to the stub axle (the connection at the wheel end, not the tranny yoke).

Iv'e got and 8s on the way and was hedging my bet on trying to get a set of cvd's that would fit. Plus I like the look of the cvd's better than the stock sliders since I've invested in the FLM aluminum.

By the way, nice rides!

joostin420 10.21.2005 08:55 AM

i get my CF from: www.dragonplate.com

what most people are talking about i think is twisting the slider driveshafts, but i too have broken the connection to the stub axle twice with my lehner 5300 stampede.

the reason i do not use the CVD's is because they limit suspension travel.

the lehner basic 4200/5300 motors look really small, but they pack quite a punch. check out Candyman's website, he has a bunch of good videos with lehner motors. i think he used 2x lehner 4200's in a juggernaut 2, and it scooted along quickly.

Thanks for that link Justin! How do you machine the CF? routing at 20000 rpm+? or with a jigsaw? i wanted to use cf for my next project as well.

Perhaps a mill with some water comes in handy with this material.. (or a dust mask.. :p )

At those high speeds, do you need the travel that bad?

joostin420 10.21.2005 04:25 PM

i use a scroll saw, and lots of blades.

http://www.scrollsawer.com/images/Sc...ollStation.jpg

you would be surprised at the suspension travel used when driving very fast over rough terrain :D it is definately noticeable.

Serum 10.21.2005 04:28 PM

I've got one of those as well.. You knew i made my 10mm thick aluminum motorplate with it? :p

Dafni 10.21.2005 04:32 PM

Now THIS is a dremel!
Wouldn't mind having one of those either.

Serum 10.21.2005 04:41 PM

They are sooooo handy Daniel! you need one.. :)

I used it with building speakers (mine is a bit deeper, i can work on 23" long frames if needed.. :p )

crazyjr 10.21.2005 05:03 PM

I have the older model.

MetalMan 10.21.2005 06:03 PM

I have cut many things with my scroll saw. Yes, they are very handy!

RC-Monster Mike 10.22.2005 09:34 AM

I have the dremel scroll saw myself. I haven't used it in a bit(it tends to eat blades), but it is a handy device for the curvy stuff.
