Might be leaving for awhile... :(

Well Ive decided to sell a good amount of my r/c here on rcm "the best forums on the net" and I got a good amount of money out of what has already sold. I am $150 short of my goal and that is $650. Why $650 you ask, Im hopping onto the 1/5 bandwagon here very soon and probably will not come back for brushless/conversions for a good amount of time. I am purchasing a Hpi Baja 5b hopefully within a week and in a few weeks Ill be putting a bigger 27cc engine along with a DDM tuned pipe in it to please me. :yipi:

Ill let you guys know when I get the 5b and Ill post numerous pics along with when I egt upgrades. I hope you support my decision... Ill let you guys know.

to be honest i want 1/5 scale to but i do not want to switch just want to add to my collection. My priority is getting a racer for the winter though.

Ya I'd like to stay 1/8 but the urge to get a 1/5 for me is greater than ever and it wont stop bugging me till I buy one.

But ya once I sell the E-maxx Im set to buy the 5b so once that sells Ill let you guys know aswell.

Are you getting the SS kit or the RTR? I assume the SS. They are a lot of fun to put together and heaps of fun to play with too. You will enjoy it. I'd recomend keeping some thing smaller scale though as well.

Im getting the RTR for kicks... I just want to open it up and go. I dont like building r/c because after I get done with something I end up finding left over screws and parts which then leads to disasters in the future.

MTBikerTim 08.07.2008 07:51 PM

Get the SS, the RTR will cost you so much upgrading rear shocks and things. Also you won't have left over bits cause the HPI Manuals are awesome. You would also have a better radio as well wouldn't you? And the SS is cheaper then the RTR isn't it.

I dont know what Im gonna do yet. I heard its a 10hour build. If thats true im going for the RTR.

BL_RV0 08.07.2008 08:37 PM

You don't have to leave just becase you're not into brushless. If you were into nitro only that would be a different story. :rules:

The build does take a long time but it's easy. You will love building it but if you don't what can you do .

Ya I really wish I'd enjoy builds but I just dont... The RTR is more suited to what I want.

bl-is-future 08.07.2008 09:05 PM

DONT GET THE RTR. it is a piece compared to the ss. the ss comes with so much better things that are key to the RTR upgrade process. for one it has a 26cc instead of the doggy 23cc

I already have alloy diff housings and a zen 26 on hold for me along with a ddm tgn pipe.

bl-is-future 08.07.2008 09:08 PM

what about rear axle extenders so things dont rub and the alloy shocks and a servo you will have to change anyway. If you really want the RTR that is fine but not a good idea imo.

Oh ya forgot, I also have a Hitec 5745 put on hold for me. I will be using a Futaba 3pm fm radio 3ch with a failsafe.

Get the SS Kit.. it runs great.. but it's more than a 10 hours build time... take your time, do it well.. it's worth it... even the stock 26cc engine with a high speed/stall clutch runs great.. add a DDM pipe and it's awesome...

here's one of my firehammer with stock DTX 23cc CY Engine and only upgrade was the Jet Pro Pipe...

just because you're going to run Petrol, doesn't mean to you have to leave the forums.. LOL

I was planning on converting to Brushless 1/5th but I keep changing my mind to stay with Petrol... 30+ minutes of run time... cheap.. fast.. fun..

Takedown 08.07.2008 11:46 PM

Ya I am definately going to buy another 1/8 just to convert once I get the 5b. I am looking into a Cen GST, Savage X, Losi LST2.
