IS THIS...(1)will two 5s (hi-end lipo)batts have too many volts for my set-up?...(2)Can anyone help with setting of the dip switches on the back of the SCHULZE esc?...THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Arct1k 08.23.2008 09:12 PM

Who's motor mount is that? Is it the trinity one stripped?

plettenbergs 08.23.2008 09:28 PM

C-5Quad 08.23.2008 09:30 PM

George16 08.23.2008 09:31 PM

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/DSC01330.jpg.....i picked up 2 New esc's and one of the pics shows the way they were set!...i ran them with two Bigmaxximums and 24cells(nickel)...they ran good, but i think they might run better if the DIP switches were set properly!...i have been into NITRO,this is my first electric...i am learning as i go!:eyes:

suicideneil 08.24.2008 05:10 PM

Candyman has the same esc on his MaxxBling truck- shoot him an email:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ryan.coombes/index.htm (click on the little envelope).

I would move the esc down lower though, into the 2nd motor posistion for more protection in a roll or flip. Looks awesome

magman 08.24.2008 05:13 PM

Wow...that truck has some serious bling..I agree w/ suicideneil,...move the esc lower to prevent a possible disaster.

gimpygolden 08.24.2008 05:23 PM

Somehow I don't think this truck is rolled or flipped

rhylsadar 08.24.2008 05:25 PM

hi

"usual" dip setting with a plettenberg: 101001

you may change the third to 0 if you don't want reverse.
the 6th dip is also not soo clear. you may check both settings 0 and 1.

bye

True...it looks like a show truck, which is ok too!

gimpygolden 08.24.2008 05:28 PM

I've had my share of shelf queens!

plettenbergs 08.24.2008 05:55 PM

thanks for the info

i have run the truck about 6-7 times in my giant sodded yard with dual Bigmaxximums installed on 24 cells nickel metal....broke two input shafts and sheared off two output shafts(all have been upgraded to hardened steel)....ran great between break downs...the last time i ran it the sealed bearing for the input shaft disentegrated...since then i sold all my batts and chargers and will be getting lipo batts to decrease poundage!...that should help the drive train!!!!my ULTRAMAXXED trani gears are holding up beautifully!.....i will try the 101001....i am going with two flighpower 5s batts,is this too much for the Schulze esc?

gimpygolden 08.24.2008 05:57 PM

Good to hear your running it.
What are you doing with the other motor?

suicideneil 08.24.2008 05:59 PM

You only need 5s total, so you could run those batts in parallel to get doubled runtimes. Cant run them in series, as the esc will go pop.

What are the specs on your flightpowers- mah & C rating?

lincpimp 08.24.2008 06:08 PM

Big maxx on 5s sounds like a great combo. I run the reg maxx w/fan on 4s in my mostly stock new emaxx and it is great. Are you looking to sell the other big maxx...asking hopefully:wink:

plettenbergs 08.24.2008 07:41 PM

no, not selling the other motor/esc for now...i have another UE VBS and a one of a kind custom emaxx chassis i might build!!!!...i will let YOU know first lincpimp if i do!...you have helped me in the past with my other ?'s...so one 5s is the biggest batt i can run?....have not purchased the lipo yet,i will be getting the best money can buy!!...need charger also:whistle:

suicideneil 08.24.2008 07:46 PM

I believe you could run a 6s lipo on that esc (18nimhs is about the same voltage), but it might be too much power with that Pletty for the esc to take- only rated for 98amps afterall.

plettenbergs 08.24.2008 08:37 PM

only 98 amps...you dont get much for $375 these days!...I emailed the guys at I-Care to see if they can tell me for sure! what batt is too big!:diablo:

plettenbergs 08.24.2008 08:40 PM

the last time i ran the dual setup on 24nimh the motors were cold after a full run!.....the dip switches were set totally wrong!...i think they were set for a glider airplaneor something, not dual BL aluminum beast from hell!...it was fast before,i want it to fly!!!!!!

rhylsadar 08.25.2008 03:23 AM

hi

i would strongly recommend to use a fan on the esc and start with a small pinion. check the temps on the esc. the 18.97kw is not such a powerful esc. its expensive and five years ago it was one of the few options available. by now things have changed and technology moved on. no one talked bout castle, mgm, quark or others those times. it was more or less hacker, schulze or bk back then. from a today's point of view the 18.97kw is much too expensive for what it can do imo.

bye
rhylsadar

suicideneil 08.25.2008 07:43 AM

Amen to that. Even their newest stuff is still double the price of its american equivelents, with questionable after sales service sometimes.

plettenbergs 08.25.2008 03:04 PM

my buddy wants to sell me ... 2-FlightPower EVO25 2170mah 11.1v 3S1P...can i run these two batts at the same time with my single motor setup?

Arct1k 08.25.2008 03:08 PM

That is only going to get you just under 4400mah 3s (too low capacity) or 2170 at 6s (too much volatge and not enough capacity).

I think you are better off looking at something else.

plettenbergs 08.25.2008 04:00 PM

thats what i was thinking...but i wanted to ask the PRO's...i will keep looking for 5s 5000-6000mah 18.5 volt battery at decent price!!:gasp:

Arct1k 08.25.2008 04:12 PM

I would looks for 2x3000mah 5s

plettenbergs 08.25.2008 04:25 PM

how about this...Polyquest 3200mAh 5S 30-50C Lipoly @$199...can i run two of these with my current set-up?

suicideneil 08.25.2008 04:27 PM

Certainly could- wire them in parallel to get fantastic run time and cool battery temps.

Arct1k 08.25.2008 04:31 PM

These should work to:

ZIPPY-H 3300mAh 5S1P 20-30C Lipoly Pack $77 x2

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6428

ZIPPY-H 4000mAh 5S1P 20-30C Lipoly Pack $98 x2

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6414

Better still:

ZIPPY-R 4800mAh 25C 5S1P $99
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7238

Huge run time - but a bit heavier...

plettenbergs 08.25.2008 04:37 PM

if they were in stock would i wire them in parallel??...3300 or 4000 only?....why not 5k or 6K?

Arct1k 08.25.2008 04:42 PM

You'd wire all of these in parallel to get 6600, 8000 and 9600mah packs respectively...

Too bigger packs = too much weight = bad handling and breakages...

Or you could get 3 x 3s 6000 and wire in series for 6s 6000

plettenbergs 08.25.2008 05:10 PM

if all these batts are 5s..why would i choose LESS mah over MORE run time?

Arct1k 08.25.2008 05:24 PM

Just weight = too bigger packs = too much weight = bad handling and breakages

plettenbergs 08.25.2008 05:37 PM

CEE senyor!....i did not realize that more mah meant more poundage!!...i got it mow!
