Nice...I just bought a crt.5 myself and am waiting to pick it up tomorrow...With those paddle tires you will kick up some serious rooster tails.......From your pics, is that the 40mm ext. chassis Mike sells?
I like the body.....:yipi:....and the keg in the background...even the brand!

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

Yes, its the 40mm ext chassis from RCM, very good quality chassis, I frikin love it. The paddles are for the sand bar at the river, I plan to do some brushless slash smoking with this thing. I all so have some bowties and road tires for this thing. About the keg, I am on a Coors kick for some reason.

lincpimp 09.07.2008 08:21 PM

Looks good Chip, I like the paddle tires and the bug body, definately unique! Only thing I would suggest is a Rcm heatsinl/clamp for the 9l. Helps knock a few deg off the motor and will keep it together after a few hard landings. Can't wait to see this in person!

The novak 25mm fans work well for the MM, just use an 1/4 spacer on each screw to give the fan some room to mave air.

Did you do ok in the storm?

Yep, it will need an all over paint job. I need to get a roll pan and some Caddy door handles before you start on it.

If it needs a fair amount of body work we could start while you scare up the parts...

On a side note I just came home from a late night crawling session. My buddy has a buch of big rocks on his back patio, and we were using Erik's crawler and my cr-01 on it! Fun stuff.

It only has four dents, all can be fixed with metal glaze. Noting big just lot of deep scratches from the roof shingles.

Scratches do suck, sounds like most of the truck needs to be sanded and primed before paint. No big deal, Erik works for me now, so he can do the bitch work!!!!!

You know I went to school for 2 years to do paint and body work ? I worked in a body shop for 2 1/2 years and got tired of not making any money, then I went offshore.

You did tell me that, i just remembered! It is hit or miss, I have to work hard somedays just to make ends meet. But it is not too bad. At least I know what I am doing (most of the time)!!!

MTBikerTim 09.08.2008 01:12 AM

That looks sweet. Just make sure you get another 2 sand paddles though . Should look really good with body painted.

Waiting on LHS to get the paddles.

DRIFT_BUGGY 09.08.2008 01:52 AM

Nice work, that RS4 body looks like it was made for it

Thanks man, I was having a hard time finding a body that I like. I use the Hpi bug bodies on my rc rock crawler, I had a few stock piled so I guess that's what I am gonna run. I think it looks sweet, kinda like an old Tamiya beetle.

BL_RV0 09.08.2008 10:16 PM

You only have TWO paddles?

Don't just look at the pretty pictures.

BL_RV0 09.08.2008 11:31 PM

I read... It seems a bit dumb to only buy 2 paddles though. Even if my LHS only had 2, I'd wait until they got another 2 in stock.

The paddles were for my brushless slash, which is only 2wd so at the time I didn't need 4 paddle tires. Now that I have done the CRT.5, which is 4wd I do need 2 more paddle tires. I ordered them from my LHS which doesn't stock anything but Traxxas stuff. I could have mail ordered them, but I can get them in the same time thru the LHS for cheaper than mail order. If that makes sense to you.

BL_RV0 09.09.2008 09:32 AM

Understood.

All in good fun guys, that does look like a happy goat, must have had a good meal of someone's laundry...

BL_RV0 09.09.2008 11:05 PM

I have never had any success with arguing with laundry... Kind of like pushing water up a wall!

BL_RV0 09.09.2008 11:24 PM

I think you're missing the point. Or should I say the hole?

Looks sharp Chip, I dig those sand paddles...

Krawlin 09.14.2008 01:57 AM

Wow, very unique but very awesome looking! Great conversion! And I have to ask, but about how tall is the rooster tail that that thing kicks up? :mdr:

jnev 09.14.2008 01:59 AM

Looks great! The thing I love about your set up is that it is different. It is not very usual to see paddles and a bug body on a CRT.5... Let us know how it runs!
