Why I don't post in here any more....
Several people have asked why I stopped posting in RC-Monster.
When people are actually interested in hearing what we are doing to investigate and fix problems on the MMM, then I will resume posting here -- but as long as RC-Monster is just a forum to bash, name-call, and rumor monger, then I won't post here. Patrick (I AM reading this forum, even though I am not posting...) |
Sorry to hear that Patrick. I think the majority of the people here do sincerely appreciate and value your (and other CC employees') input. Most of us realize that there are bound to be issues with any new release, but some lose sight that this is a hobby and not to get so worked up about it. I find it humorous that the same people who bitch the most about their stuff not working are the ones that buy more of it.
I more than once thought about deleting/editing the more aggressive posts, but didn't want to give the impression that the site is full of fanboys, and that they can post the good and the bad. However, there should be no name-calling, or outright bashing something. It's one thing to express experiences (good or bad), but another to rant on and on. If something like this comes up, I would suggest PM'ing a mod so we can edit/delete as necessary. |
I agree.
Huray for BrainG |
Thanx BrianG,
I'll keep that in mind. At this point, there just is so much bashing, and too little information here to be really worth continuing to post. I will try to keep everyone updated as we learn more. Just to let everyone know: It seems that the issues are setup related, because certain people go through MMM after MMM, and others don't have problems. We have received several setups from users so that we can try to reproduce the issues where MMM controllers are failing. Thanx! Patrick |
You may want to email/PM Mike about this. He may not be as hesitant to delete posts as I am (it is his forum after all!). I think he values your presence much more than the chronic whiners.

That is truely unfortunate you feel that way. I have not been on this forum all that long but it seems to me that most of the members are willing to work with you and give time to get your MMM right. There are members that have voiced frustration, unfairly at times to be sure, over failed product but this should be expected given the history of the MMM (V1) to date. Many members have bought several MMM's and still continue to do so in light of the fact that there are at least some issues to be worked out. I count as one of those members and I can't think of many things I would buy knowing ahead of time that it may not work because of documented failures. Just because we are aware of some issues doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to vent or share our concern. On the flip side I share your opinion that name-calling and rumor starting shouldn't be tolerated. It seems to me that this is limited to a handful of members not the group as a whole. I don't think that it is fair to the forum community, again as a whole, to put out a blanket statement such as the one you made above, I for one actually get turned off by it. So, this is just my .02 cents worth and I hope you can see that punishing the whole of us with limited information for the action of a few members isn't going to help. Good day to ya, Patrick (Also my first name) |
I would like to know what is going on with the MMMs. I have refrained from any negative posts even though I am more than a bit dissapointed in the MMM having died on me for the 3rd time. I fully understand the infant mortality rates can be high on new electronics, I work with industrial electronics daily, and see this quite often. I certainly would like to hear if the problem has been found and remedied. Patrick, your input here is much appreciated (by me at least), as you have insight that can help with other things besides just the MMM. In the mean time I will enjoy running my rigs with MMs or MGM and not get too bent out of shape about it.
|
Patrick,
I'm just sitting here waiting for everything to be perfect before I make my purchase. I will definately be getting a Monster Max and also the HV versions as well when they are done. Castle has done a lot for this hobby and I know you and your team of great workers are doing everything to fix the issue with the Monster Max. I don't know many manufacturers that has the owner/president come into a forum to give info and help to everyone. This forum is the best and I like to thank Mike again for having it. I like to thank Patrick for the awesome work he has done for the hobby. Regards, Luciano. |
Patrick,
I for one appreciate you and your teams input on the technical aspects of the hobby (emphasis hobby). I'm anti whining, bashing and name-calling but do love a good gossip about new products and hypothesis on issues etc. Sometimes creative thinking can bring new solutions. All the best |
Yeah, so true Patrick. I think alot of new members joined this site because they knew you posted on here and were hoping that you can solve all their problems. At least 80% of posts on here are now in the Castle Section of people overworking/powering their electronics and having a good old bitch
|
How are we supposed to form our opinions in to words that are OK for you? I don't want to sound like a complainer, but when people have something rightfully to complain about, maybe you should just listen.
I have a new MMM that I put in my Losi truggy, replacing a tried and tested Mamba Max/Castle BEC. Well of corse it failed in just a few moments and took my $100 JR servo with it. (the MMM also failed in all of my team mates vehicles running DIFFERENT set-ups, ie:cell count, transmitter brands, motors, etc... 5 in all this week) Now how can I help you Patrick so you don't feel bad anymore? What is someone like me supposed to think about a topic as you have posted? |
Can someone start a thread with acceptible setup paramiters.I run 4s Neu 15151.5d in a 8t and 3s Neu 15121.5d in a Matrix Buggy. These setups have given great results on both my MMM V2s.Gossip and bashing arent fare when a guy cant look ya straight in the eye.Sorry Patrick if I ever made you feel this way.I have Spectum servos no problems there also.
Regards |
MARZAC.... then stop buying castle products...your post is exactly what patrick is talking about....how about posting your setup on the thread started by thomas porfert to help with the solution instead of being sarcastically ( i don't know if this is a word)apologetic to patrick...sorry b ut i don't mean to single you out b/c there are others but we should all be helping castle...not bashing.... "step, step, step.....now i'm off my soapbox"

I hope my post is taken with some understanding that the customers are also having heart break/anger over purchasing a product that should be ready to go. It is hard for everybody to post just "information" when so much hope is on the table that the product you buy works like it's supposed to. Sorry for having feeling too. But I am only human. |
no prob....now go post your setup !!!!!!...and tell your friends to do the same...patrick is a very valuable asset to this forum, lets not lose him:)
|
I can't say I blame you, Patrick. Like BrianG and the others have said, the majority of members here are all for you guys, and the last thing we want to do is put you under any more stress from having to put up with petty whining...but there are some who have to stick their oars in.
I do hope you feel you can post again soon, as I for one enjoy reading your updates on the situation with the MMM...even if it's not good news or inconclusive. You guys must be working flat-out, and be under some strain right now to sort out the whole MMM issue, so reading some stupid critical post isn't going to help. I hope you start posting again soon, and all the best with bug-hunting on the MMM. |
I think 99% of the people appreciate your posts and honesty. I have always and will continue to recommend your products on this and other forums as they have always proved themselves to be a great value and great quality. I have already posted my setup and will gladly help in any way. I would suggest opening a new thread with setups that work so that others can follow. I think there is also a lot of experimentation going on with the 6S possibilities which could be causing some of the issues.
|
I for one can say I don't want to see you stop posting in the RC-Monster Forum's as well Patrick.
Also please don't take the thread the wrong way I started about your return policy about shipping stuff back to Canada as me whining,I was not mad at you because everytime I have had a PM for you you always helped me out alot ad for that I'm grateful,it just get's me Mad when people who don't live in canada start the stop whining crap and saying stuff like I would'nt be Mad if it took 3 weeks to get my MMM back when I know they would if tey were in my shoe's.I just want you to know that I have always felt you were and are still a First class guy and would hate to see you stop posting here,I would not let the other's that are bashing you make you stop posting I would just shoot down there threads with your replies. Also if you read my joke about the MMM that was not ment as an attack or a Bash I was just trying to have a little fun and was not trying to hurt anyone or your feelings and if I did all I can hope for is that you accept my apology. I was wondering if you would mind letting us know what you have so far about what is causing the MMM'S to fail as far as setup's go,I have heard that some Battery's are the problem from what a friend told me that was talking to Joe Ford on the phone. |
I'll still be your friend Patrick...
|
Hi Patrick
I would hate to see you leave also. I have learnt a lot from reading your posts. Your posts are one of the things that keep me coming back to this forum. With you posting on this forum it gives me confidence in your products and your company has fantastic customer service. Please hang around even if it is just to give updates on the progress of your MMM and other products. |
Dear Patrick,
I think that you need to be a little more honest about the problems that exist with the MMM and that would eliminate alot of the speculation and negativity. You don't have to reveal specific information to satisfy most customers, and there is clearly plenty of people here who keep buying your products and want desperately for the MMM to do what its supposed to. The failure rate here is about 50% and provided you are using higher cell counts and no external BEC then you are almost certain for it not to last long. But the last official word has been that its an isolated problem and its hard to replicate. This doesn't gel with what we are experiencing here and if thats truly the case then the air must be different in your building! So what is really going on? Fess up and let the fanboys sing your praises :mdr: |
I can understand where Patrick is coming from! I know and understand that this is just a hobby and have tried to get that through some others heads on here that have been bashing CC because of the problems with the MMM. My v1 died and I patientlly waited for my replacement. My failure wasn't the BEC either as the servos still worked. I honestly beleive it was the Feigao motor that took it out. I ordered a Tekno Neu 1515 2.5d to run when I received my replacement. So far after a few hours of running on 4s with this motor I've had no problems and the MMM hasn't reached 130*F yet. I will continue to use my MM and MMM and supprort CC and let others know that I feel this way. I really hope that this doesn't lead to CC leaving the forum as MaxAmps did. I honestly wish they where still on here. Although they get bashed all the time on here I still use my (4) 2s 6000mah packs with success, yes they get warm in the E-REVO, but I'm sure if they had better airflow over them they'd do better. I have enjoyed the posts Patrick has made, esspecially when he went through the manufacturing process step by step telling us exactly what machines where used.
Patrick - I will continue to use and support your products with or without you here, however losing you would be a huge loss to the majority of the forum that appreciates what you have done!!! |
Yeah I don't want patrick to go!
I was wary about the MMM but after my bro just got 2 and another friend got one, and they all run internal bec and maximum voltage and hours on end and cant manage to replicate any of this nonsense I read about (one of them is even running in big super heavy savage xl - starting to move away from 8th scale lol). Until I hear about BrianG inexplicably killing one then I'll continue to believe its setup related (as I always have...). |

My setup is; Erevo tekno neu 1515/1y 2 3s 4300 20-30c batteries in series for 6s I appreciate the info you have given here in the past. I'd hate to have you quit posting because of the negative few here. Hope you change you mind. |
I can certainly say I appreciate your info here. I have been quite frustrated at my experience thus far.. I have gone through a few MMM's.
You want my set up, I'll gladly send it to you. Since the 2 MMM's I purchased are dead, I won't be running my truck for the near future. If it will help... Let me know. |

The one thing that Partick has always done is tell the truth and be honest. I cannot fault him for that. He is obviously not stupid, he has a very successful company and produces cutting edge products for very good prices. His company seems to focus on the hobbist more than most. I cannot say the same for Maxamps... I only started my thread to input info on his employees actions. I could honestly care less if I have a working MMM. I must own 12-14 CC escs and at least 6-10 support items from them. I will always buy from them, as they are US based and I believe in keeping our money here, where it belongs. I would rather pay an inventive designer from our country than a copy-cat overseas. I understand that I cannot always stick to that policy, but I do try. I can also see Patrick's side of all this. If a whole bunch of guys on a forum started bashing one of my builds it would cause me some emotion. I am sure that Patrick is taking a decent monetary hit for all of these problems, and there is also the personal feelings that go along with a problem such as this. I have but one hypothesis for the MMM failures. It must be one or more outsourced items that have issues. Maybe some poor manufacturing techniques or raw material issues? I have a V1 that works perfectly, and has since the beginning. I also have a V2 that had a bec failure, but works fine since I performed the "BG" mod. I doubt it is a design issue, maybe there are a few comonents that are running close to spec, and any deviation in that spec will cause a failure? I can imagine that I am just repeating what the CC brains have already though. Please look past the BS Patrick! The few people that are having problems will most likely run the MMM when the bugs are worked out. On a side note, do the MMM and the latest batch of CCBECs share any components? Seems like more of them are failing too, maybe a connection? Recent supplier change or component change? |
Myself I don't think anyone should feel like they need to stop posting in the forum's because of bashing.
I really think this forum really need's a code of conduct and there should be strict rule's in place to protect people like Patrick who are olny coming on to help people make the Hobby better for us.I also think there should be a warning system in place where if you post hateful stuff and bash in a thread or post the person should get a warning if the person does it again they get banned for a week or 2 if they still don't smarten up ban them for a month and if they still continue ban them for life and there IP address so they can not start up another account under a different name and start bashing all over again.I don't think it's fair when a few Pecker Heads are allowed to start crap and the rest are made to suffer,I really don't want to see anyone get banned but I think there needs to be a strong message sent that if you can not conduct yourself in a manner that is not negative toward others than your not welcome here. I also feel that people my not have gotten so angry about there MMM'S when they failed if we were kept up to date on what Patrick thought the problem may have been, but then again we don't know why Patrick did not say to much and it's not fair to judge him for not saying anything,he may have had good reason's not maybe he did not want to tip his hand and have another competitor's use it against him to hurt his sale's and his company.Anyway you look at it I don't think anyone including myself have stopped to think that Patrick never ment for this to happen,Patrick is doing this to make money not lose it and there is olny so much money that can be lost before his company is really going to suffer and it's good name, there is no way anyone is going to start a company with the intent of loosing money on every new product release, and I think if there is something wrong with the MMM it was an over sight or something unforseen.Anyway you look at it your an idiot if you think Patrick used us as Beta tester's as some have suggested all that is going to do is hurt his company money wise and it's name. |
i think if i was trying to figure out an isolated problem like this i would buy/borrow/rent the very ones that are going through 3 and 4 mmm's. hook up every test probe you have and go bashing.
my 808 and xt8 v2 and v1 on 5s have never even givin a hick up and i use them at least 3 or 4 times a week. mike test drove them also.( chasing cars on the highway at 50 mph:surprised:) fan on fan off they work and work smooth. |
wade: In an ideal world, that level of moderation would work perfectly. However, different people have different ideas about what is acceptable and what is not. Unless Mike makes up a huge post written in "legal-ese", it is difficult to maintain consistency in moderation. And who wants to read, not to mention understand, all that! When that happens, you get what you see in certain other unnamed forums.
|
I personally don't own a castle product, however...I think the bashing should end, against castle, they will get the bugs worked out...it just takes time, it takes awhile to get all the bugs worked out of a product.....at least they have good customer service....unlike a certain german company, we all know of......just bear with them guys......

Unfortunately, every village has it's idiots. The rest of us appreciate your efforts to keep us informed and understand why you don't bother responding to the aforementioned. |
All I'm trying to say is that a few guildlines of what will be tolerated and what won't would be nice to help protect the people like Patrick from being driven out of a board and not wanting to answer any Question's.

ok here is my point of view i just spent 180 dollars on a speed control for my race buggy. it lasted 1 pack then it goes out. im in a points series so my buggy running is a big thing to me. (thanks to jhautz it is running).
i send in my mmm on monday you get it wednesday. its now monday the following week i have not been contacted about any issues like i was told i have not been contacted about the condition of my item. Now i come on a forum where castle has there own section about there products and the one person says theyre not posting because of product bashing Im losing faith in castle as i read through this thread you released a product that has failed on a lot of people step up to the plate and fix the problem and i bet the product bashing would stop |
+1 For supporting Patrick!!!!
I for one think this forum is the best RC forum on the net. To have Patrick come on here and update us with what is happening is awesome and totally above and beyond his call of duty. Don't listen to the haters Patrick  . |
Quote:
Hold on, whats this thread about? I thought it was about patrick leaving the forum, not about people who lost points because their car wasn't running. Do you want castle to stay or go? I couldn't figure it out from your post... having castle leave certainly won't fix your buggy, it will just keep you in the dark on how long itll be till its fixed. |
MIght not be the right thread to post this in but here it goes!
Anyone that has purchased a MMM since they where released, not pre-ordered and received, but has actually ordered one since the first reports of failures.....This goes out to you. You knew you where purchasing a new product that hasn't been proven yet, a product that you knew had failures....Yet you purchased it anyways. You are the people that really have no right to be putting Castle down! You knew that it could happen, that it could die on you and you took the chance. Don't whine that your down and out!!! I purchased a MMM from a member on here about a month after they where released, I knew that it could die on me, and it did. I'm not whining about it, I sent it in and Castle replaced it, if my new one dies I'll send that in and wait again, I knew what I was getting into and so don't YOU!!! |
Quote:
and its about the fact that they want to give up on a forum because of product bashing if they would fix the problem i bet the bashign would stop |

Actually, there are at least 4 CC employees registered here. And they HAVE stepped up to the plate and addressed the problems they found - hence MMM V2. Hindsight is always 20/20, so everything looks so simple once you know the answer. I'm sure CC is taking a huge hit replacing the V1s that failed; they're basically going in the garbage. Manufacturers with Castle's level of customer focus are VERY few and far between.
I could understand the bashing if they weren't doing anything. But they are. Patrick even said that there are a bunch out there with no problems, and then there are those with multiple problems in a row. So, to them it looks like a setup issue for those. Kinda hard to fix something when you don't know the problem. I said it once and I'll say it again; instead of whining about how much CC sucks or whatever, don't buy their products. Simple as that. Go out and get another brand ESC. Have fun finding something even near comparable for the price and CS that Castle has. They'll discover the problems eventually. |
******Reality CheckTime******
We are all palying with tiny cars! This is a HOBBY! If you are not having fun in this hobby, it is time to quit and move on to something else, like quilting! ******End of Reality Check Time****** I will say that I always work with the idea that I should be having a good time with r/c. If I start getting pissed (or pissy like some people) it is time to go find something else to do. Playing with tiny cars is not everything in life. If your MMM craps out, send it back, and enjoy some time with a family member, or friend. Go see a movie, have dinner, or drive around in the red light district. Or take a quiet evening to memorize the kv values for all of the 15 series neu motors, or get a tattoo of series and parallel wiring for future reference. Just do something! |
