What are you guys running in your truggies.

I just converted the Kyosho inferno truggy. I was curious about others truggies setups and if your happy with it.

I am running 4s on a MM/BEC - 1515 1y /s 48/19 right now.

The Axial .28 engine that I took out had lots of power. It's a big truggy so is it going to need more lipo to make me go WOW? I have the same setup on my G3R except it has the single speed tranny and spur/pinion of 56/26 right now. It makes me go WOW and we've been together for almost a year now.

What are you others using in your truggies? Are you happy with the power you have? Any recommendation (besides counseling) for me to put the spark back in my relationship with the truggy?

I'm running a MGM controller, Neu 1515 1y F and i'm using 46/18 in my XT8 and runs great, stays supper cool on 4 & 5s.

Highly recommend this setup, that a pair of High heels always seems to get the spark back in the relationship http://www.pierresilber.com/highheels14.html :lol:

I've got a Medusa 36-60-1600 on 5s in my ST-rr. My MMM smoked during configuration so I don't yet know how she runs. Hope to have replacement soon.
Gearing is 18/50.

stum 09.29.2008 09:34 PM

Ill swap you my 1.5d for your 1y it will make you go wow on a 4s lipo config.. in fact I can't use it in my 8ight conversion as it will be with teh smallest gear set for 60mph which is retarded. It is perfect in my erevo due to more gearing options.. 50mph is not an issue, but on the track 40-42mph is the best speed.

Gee 10.01.2008 12:32 AM

Thanks for the offer stum. I think I will stick with the 1y.

Thanks for the replies. I will keep messing with it. I really haven't put a whole lot of time on it since the conversoin. Been busy and got the 8ight roller right after hte buils. The speed calc give it around 50mph with that setup but it doesn't seem like it. It might just be me comparing it to the Axial .28 I had in it. That had a lot of power. If I was looking for a reason to go past he 4s line and get an esc that can handle it. It looks like the truggy will be the reason.

big greg 10.01.2008 09:41 AM

yup 4s with the 1y is all you need, super cool temps, and amazing speed, i love when nitro guys drive mine, the first word is "wow"

cornolio 10.01.2008 04:18 PM

im running a 1515 1y on 4s too.im very happy with the speed.anything faster could not be driveable.check your gearing if you find it slow for you

jhautz 10.01.2008 06:29 PM

I love the 1515/2.5D on 5s in my truggy. Flat out powerfull runs very cool.

Same setup Monster Mike runs in his truggy too.

Id love to run 5s on this exact setup, on my 4s flightpower 5000's the 2.5 runs a little hot, what esc are you using?

MMM right now. 3rd one, but this one seems to be holding up for the moment.

cheesecake 10.01.2008 08:19 PM

im running a nue 1515/2.5d opn 5s with my 2nd mamba monster

Arct1k 10.01.2008 09:19 PM

I had a 1515 2.5D on 5s now running a 1515 1Y on 4s...

Semi Pro 10.01.2008 11:39 PM

Hot Bodies LSP pro with novak HV6.5 on 3cell

sounds underpowered but its perfect for the tight track we race on. runs cool with no fans and is soft on power

im actualy very happy with it,and its still faster than my revo conversion

stum 10.01.2008 11:42 PM

I'm running a 2.5d/f on 4s in my e-revo racing truggies and took 3rd in the last a-main (geared for just over 40), but I don't think I want to pull it out and I don't want to run 5s setups.. my 1.5d should work great on 4s considering a 4.3 ratio, with a 50t spur and 13t bell I'll be at about 43mph. Should run great.

Matthew_Armeni 10.02.2008 04:02 PM

In my Losi 8T always run 6s, MM, and either my Medusa 60mm 1300kv or a Neu 1515 1.5Y.

A4DTM 10.02.2008 05:46 PM

1515 2.5d/f on 5s on quark 125b :)

gtxracer 10.03.2008 12:46 AM

I'll be running a Neu, probably a 1515 2.5d or a similar motor with a Tekin R1 Pro on 5s Elite 5300 30C on my CRT

Unsullied_Spy 10.03.2008 01:15 AM

My Losi Muggy:
MGM 16018
Tekno RC Neu 1515 1.5D
2x 2s 8k Maxamps and 1x 5s Zippy-H 5k lipos
13 tooth pinion on stock 46T spur
Stock-sized tires for now, going to Badlands when they wear out (probably be able to gear up when I lose these heavy suckers).

gtxracer 10.03.2008 05:22 AM

How do you like the Tekno Neu? Have you had a OG Neu to compare?

I don't have an original to compare it to, but it is an incredible motor! I'm hooked on them after owning just 1, I've got a Feigao XL motor just sitting on the floor which I'm probably going to just give to a friend of mine because I don't want that filth in my RCs  The KV rating of the 1.5D is too high for the Muggy IMO but it still runs great. On 4s lipo it wheelies back onto the wing nicely with the front tires ballooned like crazy and has the power to tackle anything I've managed to throw at it. On 5s it's even more insane. I run a 13T pinion and it runs perfectly, but when I had my 20T pinion on it I only got it to ~155 before my MGM thermalled.

I plan to buy a Tekno 2.5D and drop it in my Muggy and move the 1.5D to my Hyper, IMO it's better suited to Buggies because they're lighter and have much smaller and lighter tires. Overall the quality and power is simply amazing, I will not go back to cheap motors again. You get what you paid for, and in the case of a Neu motor that is no exception. It's worth saving your $$$ another paycheck or two to step up to a Neu (unless you are looking at a Medusa, they are supposed to be fairly close in performance for half the cost). Neu motors are a 10/10 in my book, I absolutely love this motor.

brushlessboy16 10.18.2008 05:06 PM

I have got a MMM and the castle 1515 1y (basically the combo)
running on 5s zippy lipo in a Cen Matrix Tr Fre

runs a tad warm geared for 50ish

masense 10.19.2008 06:13 PM

hi! TDC57
my xt8 16018 a123 7s
1515 1y(2200kv)
13/48
It is still maximum 210A present value 150A.
The kind of mgm?
Is ESC all right in 18T?

FG101C 11.17.2008 02:57 AM

This thread would be great if gearing was listed along with motor kv. I'm currently running 5s MMM NEU 1515/1/y/f. Losi, 50 spur 10 pinion, 43/10 drive. It's too much.

Would I be better off running a 1515/2/y with a 16 tooth pinion? I only want to hit about 28 mph.

The 1515/1/Y/F TEKNO geared 48/10 on 4s was perfect, but was not getting enough run time to finish mains, so I went with a 5s 50/10, but it's too fast for the track.

Or should I go 1515/2.5/D 48/10?

E-Revonut 11.17.2008 03:29 AM

I don't have a truggy but this is a thread you guys should be looking at and posting your setups in! http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6423 It's a sticky, easy for everyone to find and tons of info in it already!

I run a 1515/2y on 10s in a converted Revo and I love the motor with my setup runs very cool and with 5s should have you in a speed range you want you should get great run times
