I'm pissed!
I bought a MM5700 motor about 2 weeks ago, ran 2 8cell nimh 3300 packs, I was geared a little high so temps were 170* and this happens, I threw out the receipt by accident and now CC says that they wont warranty it!!!!!:grrrrrr::grrrrrr:
the only way that this could happen on an new motor is a manufacturing defect http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...c/IMGP4151.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...c/IMGP4150.jpg |
you ran it at 16 cells?
or 2 different runs with the 8 cells? i had the same problem with one of my mm motors... luckily castle replaces them pretty cheap.. |
2 diffrent runs on 8 cells, I just bought a NEW still sealed 4600 for $52(rctech), it cost $45+$5 shipping to send it to castle
|
So then I guess the lesson learned is to keep receipts at least until the warranty period expires?
|
Why can't you contact the place you bought it and have them reprint your invoice?

yeah buying off the i-net has its adv. but i still like to support my lhs when i can. castle should fix it for free
|
That's why I always say to wrap the rotor with Kevlar to prevent just that from happening.
|
or just buy a better motor.

Looks like a classic rotor failure which is rare for CC - It is worth $5 to put it in the post...

I already bought a new one, what is the medusa? were can I find some info on it? this is the first time I'v hered of that motor

That's it. It'll put out a great deal more power than a 4600 but if you already bought a new motor I wouldn't worry about it. |

Maybe you did, but that Medusa will outlast and outperform the CC cm-36 series motors. Not ripping on CC, they're a great company with great products. The Medusa is far more efficient and runs ALOT cooler.

I got my MM so cheap because I got a free "fried" one that I sent in. |
i believe you can use the RCM neu endbell covers with a little modding ( dont qoute me).
Medusa will rip a cm36.. i wonder if castle will replace the cm36 with a castle neu 1509? |
It's funny you are dropping your Jaw at a $115 Medusa.... Many of us in here run, or have, NEU 1515s at $250 a crack.
Not to get into a peein contest, but I have a Tekno NEU 1515 1.5D, just got my Tekno NEU 1515 1Y, and I have a Medusa 36-60-2000 V2. I can pretty much bank on that I won't have motor problems. It's one of those things that in many cases, you get what you pay for. Hobbies are never cheap and if you are going to play in BL which raises the bar for "ease of use" you gotta have extras of dang near everything if you want to run, break, fix, and run. otherwise it is Break, order, wait....... fix, run.. maybe a week later. |

I have been useing a very hi tech solution to keep the dirt out of my Medusa motor all summer. I works very well & keeps the inside of the motor very clean. It's called scotch tape over the holes.

You definitely get what you paid for, Neus are certainly worth the money. I haven't gotten my Medusa running (MM had some issues with it we couldn't work out over E-Mails so I sent it back to CC) but I have looked it over thoroughly and the initial quality is impressive. |

and dam right I'm complaining about the motor, it has a manufacuring defect and should be replaced |

step up to a medusa 50, or a 1509

ok, ok I get it, there awsome motors, but I just don't need something with that amount of power, yet..... |
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!
|
The medusa's holes haven't been a problem for me (running the 50mm 4800kv motor on 3s....). Brushed motors have open endbells, and vents in the cans. They hold up just fine offroad, and if anything, they have more potential to get screwed up because the windings are moving at high angular velocities, so any incoming debris can get smacked by the arm, and possibly sever a winding. Let's also not forget about the commutator and brushes...
The open endbell isn't a big deal unless you have a habit of running through iron filings. Of course, if it bothers you, cover up the holes like others are doing. Problem solved. |

its not a sob story, its just an explanation to why I'm not buying a $100 motor right now, an why I'm pissed that CC isn't going to fix my motor under warrenty.
|
Well, think of it from their point of view. If you have no documentation to prove you bought the item and that it's still under warranty, then they can't necessarily do a whole lot for ya. It's like going to court with no evidence... kinda pointless.
|
Can`t you get the motor repaired for under $50?CC does do non warranty repairs

Doh!
