The new thing in Lipo? (30C@3700mAh)

Abnormal power/weight ratio, i contacted them, very fast respons and very impressive numbers on their cells! they claim a 3.2V on a 30C peak load..

http://www.flightpower.co.uk/proddet...p?prod=4200016

http://www.flightpower.co.uk/proddet...p?prod=4200020

they have also got a discharge balancer.

coolhandcountry 11.18.2005 11:51 AM

What about a continous draw?

edit: I found it out after wards. 20c on continous.

Serum 11.18.2005 01:49 PM

They just replied another email;

There has been a lot of interest in these packs for this application and we are already looking into making dedicated packs for Cars/trucks with injection moulded cases etc, as we realise you guys put your packs through some pretty harsh conditions!!

Yeah, they know our needs!!!

:p

Dafni 11.18.2005 03:19 PM

Sounds very promising. Let's see how long it takes them to come up with those "injection moulded cases".

Sounds good! Lipo is taking over! Apparently the competition in the industry eventually brings us pretty price tags, too.

Gustav 11.18.2005 03:21 PM

i spoke on the phone with them today too and told them about us at RC-Monster.He seemed very interested in what we got going on here and told me about the cases in the works and also they've been looking at fast charging.Maybe Mike would consider importing the evo20 packs and balancers.

Did you see the vid of the mini jet on their home page, fast little thing!

coolhandcountry 11.18.2005 03:28 PM

That would be nice for mike to do that. Is some one going to try these packs out? Or does someone have some of them?

Gustav 11.18.2005 03:39 PM

I'm getting a pair of 4s1p to run in series.waiting on BK for the motor and esc too so likely be a few weeks yet.Waiting for build materials and new toys for my workshop too(mill and saw).I've no point of reference though when it comes to Lipos, never used them before.Sure it'll be a blast though.Better be anyway.

nbcaznmaster 11.18.2005 04:17 PM

WOW! so thethis 3700mah pack can run on brushless rc? and it only 70 bux?!??!!? Some1 test them out!! if they work p;erfectly! ima buy 4 of them and worry about the charger later!

Gustav 11.18.2005 04:21 PM

Nbcazn,that's £ not $ unfortunately.So more like $140,still good value though.

Serum 11.18.2005 04:54 PM

a very good value if you ask me...

Ncabz.. We won't get you one for free mate... :p

nbcaznmaster 11.18.2005 07:04 PM

I know! thats false advertiesment! they should say "ERUO" on it! haha j/p. 140 is still kinda steep fo rme, but maybe i could run them in parrelel or something.

maxxdude1234 11.18.2005 07:12 PM

£70 = $120.....so your in even more luck....

MetalMan 11.18.2005 09:57 PM

That price is rather high (IMO). I could get loose cells from Maxamps to build a 4s 4200mah (15C) pack for that much money. The weight might not be the same, nor the average discsharge rate, but a higher capacity and MUCH cheaper.

Injection molded cases are not a good idea IMO. They will prevent the battery from properly being cooled, and could prevent the ability to monitor the temperature of them (depending on case design). They would also add to the weight and size of the pack, while adding a few dollars too. IMO, simple foam around a pack is a good solution, along with sturdy battery mounts.

Serum 11.19.2005 09:34 AM

When cells are good for this high discharge, they have got a very low internal ressistance, and that's why they wont get as hot as the usual cells. and it depends on the material they use for molding. every pack has got an unbalance in temperature, in the different cells. It will add weight, that's for sure, but they are safer too. small price to pay.
The price IS low, and they are simple superior to the maxamps...

they are 180 dollars and the maxamps is 150....., true, the maxamps are 4200 mah, vs 3700.. but for the amount of energy they can deliver, i would take those over the maxamps' any day...

the maxamps weight 477 and these babies 376...... that is quite some difference there too.. So their energy/mass ratio is also superb compared to the maxamps.. (19C peak vs 30C peak, and remember, those cells stay at 3.2V on 30C discharge, i think those maxamps will drop to the 3.0V at those loads)

all and all together made me descide that those cells are the bomb, being cheap, lightweigt AND powerfull..

And my guess is that those maxamps packs will drop below the 3.2V at a 15C discharge allready, and those 3700's drop to these volages at 30C!!!!

i personally compared them to the FMA's, (which are more at their level) and then the price difference is even better.

Gustav 11.19.2005 09:51 AM

The evo20 3300 would be comparable to the FMA/kokam 3200 and seem to be more compact, lighter, more powerful(?) and way cheaper.Fair enough i don't really know much about it but from the specs i'd say they're 'the bomb'.(not literally hopefully:p ).

Papa 11.19.2005 09:55 AM

So how would you handle, charging, cell ballancing and LVC?

I like the soundof a couple of these wired in parallell.

FlightPower Evolution20 3700mAh 4s1p 14.8V. 20C constant discharge(74A) 30C Bursts(111A). Fully compatible with FlightPower Balancers. Perfect for IC conversions and high current applications. Dimensions - 30mm x 44mm x 150mm Weight - 376g

Gustav 11.19.2005 10:03 AM

The packs have a seperate balance connector already so you just use one balancer for each pack.I'm going to charge 2 packs in series each with a balancer.I'm going to use a single Li-saver for LVC.Other good thing compared to the FMAs is it's easy and convenient for Lipo newbies like me to balance charge both my packs on one charger above 6s.I'd need a pair of FMA chargers for my 8s and they can't do other things/types of cells.

Anybody have opinions on schulze chargers BTW,i was considering the 330d.Linky to 330d

Oh i thought it was 16 cells Nimh but it's only 6.I might look at the Graupner then,or the bigger schulze chargers.

Serum 11.19.2005 10:09 AM

great charger. I use that too, only from graupner.. (duo pro 30 it's called)

A good balancer available is from ThunderPower (TP-210), here is it

nbcaznmaster 11.19.2005 10:27 AM

i saw 2 of them schulze chargers on ebay. Just type up SCHULZE! ideal for bl people

Serum 11.19.2005 10:41 AM

my computer just went up in smoke. thanks ncabz..

nbcaznmaster 11.19.2005 03:29 PM

LOL! their escs aint that great, but what about thier cahrgers?

squeeforever 11.19.2005 04:11 PM

i thought the 330d could do 30 nimh and 11s lipo?

Gustav 11.19.2005 04:21 PM

Oh yeah, you're quite right,so it can.

What does it mean by battery output then?

Edit:Ah,i see it says battery output2 1-6 cells.oops.

squeeforever 11.19.2005 04:50 PM

if mike cant get it i have found it for 169 usd. quite cheap if you ask me. also, can you use a balancer with this charger?

MetalMan 11.20.2005 11:55 AM

As long as it is CC/CV, you can. I might have read somewhere that this charger will charge to a pretty high voltage, so a balancer would pretty much be required to keep the cells from going too high.

nbcaznmaster 11.20.2005 07:05 PM

u need powersupply?

squeeforever 11.20.2005 08:20 PM

yes or a car battery

danhfvcsd 11.21.2005 02:23 AM

i just got one of those in the mail today..............with the rest of my LST parts :devil

Serum 11.21.2005 02:35 PM

Powersupply can be made from an ATX powersupply from a computer. those things normally make an easy 15-20A on 12V

MetalMan 11.21.2005 08:04 PM

I use PS power supplies for my stuff. I have gone through 2 of them that can't hold their voltage very well, but another that is rated at 20amps on the +12v line will hold MUCH better. Or, just buy this:
http://www.emtel.com/search/product_...t_id=EMV15012V

squeeforever 11.21.2005 09:23 PM

i cant believe i could have bought a computer power supply for 40 to use instead of the 120 i spent on the novak n-power.

nbcaznmaster 11.21.2005 09:29 PM

WOW! 20 bux! are u serious? dang, i gotta gem me them!

MetalMan 11.21.2005 11:25 PM

It sure is a great deal! I haven't read anything bad about. I have read that it will hold its voltage well to its rating. But, it is cheaper to mod a computer PS if you happen to have a spare case laying around (like I did).

stampy 12.08.2005 01:14 AM

is any body else having a problem getting a answer from these guys about shipping to the us?
