MMM v3 Update
Gentlemen,
It's been a long, difficult time for us here at Castle, but I'm happy to announce that the V3 is ready to roll into production -- as soon as the new cases arrive from our injection molding people. (The new case increases the case bottom clearance by 1.5mm, and the fan blade clearance by 1.5mm.) We must give a big THANK YOU! to all of the people who sent us their personal setups to do testing with. Several setups which caused failures in the MMM were supplied by end-users, and several of the setups were instrumental in our testing and reproducing the failures (AND developing the fixes!) in the MMM. SO, new software, new brain board hardware, and a new case comprise the V3. We will be doing a smaller run for the first production -- just to ensure that there aren't any snags with the new production cycles. We expect to begin shipping the MMM V3 by the first week of November. We thank you for your patience while we ironed out the issues with the MMM!!! |
Nice.

Thanks for the info Patrick.

Thanks. For those of us with "still operational" V1's and V2's, what process would you like us to follow for upgrade/replacement? I'd like to get mine upgraded BEFORE I end up with a smoking ball of plastic! But, I'd like to know how you prefer us to handle it.
|
Great news! Congrats on the deal with the Bl-Revo, btw.
Will you be handling support for that truck's power system directly, or will that all go through Traxxas? |
Thanks for the update Patrick :)
As always this comes with a question though (I'm sorry ;)). Any news on the exchange policy for V2 users? Only when broken or at any time (after the pre-orders have been filled) like with the V1s? Edit: oh well, seems many people had the same question but typed faster ;) |
That's great news! Thanks for the update Patrick!!

We assume we will be replacing a couple thousand MMMs -- so please be patient. |
Congrats on the Traxxas deal...

As long as my V2 continues working, I will keep it.
Thanks for the update Patrick and another congratulations on the Traxxas deal. Smart move for both companies for sure. |
Patrick,
This is great news for sure as my Monster is just sitting here. What about the heat sink, is it touching the plugs? Mine are pretty close if not touching the heat sink and I don't want to run it like that. Please keep us posted. Regards, Luciano. Edit: I'm also letting my Brasilian friends know about this good news in the rc forum in Brasil. |
That's fantastic news Patrick, and thanks for letting us know. I'll probably leave it a week or two at least after you start shipping V3's before I send in my V1 to be replaced, as you guys are going to be busy enough.
Out of interest, what's been changed in the new software (if you don't mind saying)? As with the others, nice one on the Traxxas deal! I don't think anyone saw that coming. |
Thanks Patrick thats great news even though I had 3 failures with the MMM V1 all 3 of my V2s have been working flawlessly. But I assume that if they ever do quit you will replace with the V3.You guys must have had a rough time dealing with this I congradulate you and your staff.I can relate to the never quit attitude for perfection allthough its hard on a guy.
|
Good news, I will keep running my V1 untill it dies.
Can't wait to see the pictures of the finished product. |
Great news, looking forward to recieving my V3...thanks for all the hard work.
Did I miss something, what is everyone referring to with Castle and Traxxas? |

eeeewww i like what i hear. I knew i waited to buy an E-revo for a reason. Now i can do it right from the start. Thanks patrick for the great news and congrats on the traxxas deal.
|
Thanks for the update Patrick. I will probably be sending back my esc in a few weeks. Still a month or so worth of driving here before winter really sets in.
|
Will the battery leads still be soldered to the board or are they going to remain bullets? Thanks for the update Patrick, you guys have one of my V2's and the other one is running great. Congrats on the Traxxas deal, I had a feeling that one was coming. I am a member on their forum and they don't mind when we talk about the MMM, but if someone mentions Novak or some other company they shut the thread down. Again thanks for everything and I will be buying many more MMM, to convert all my nitro's.
|
thanks pdelcast for your update!!!!!i love cc:yes:
|
I have yet to use my brand new MMM V2. Can I send it to CC and get a V3? And that mounting system on the E-Revo is trick! Is that Traxxas or CC? Don Whoops, I didn't see the earlier post! I'll be sending mine in. The heat sink is touching the output jacks.
|
Great to hear Patrick! Thanks for the update. I have three working MMM ESC's right now, so I'll just run them until something happens to them.
|
Sweet, thanks for the update Patrick. Maybe some people can sleep now
|
Good news.... Thank you Patrick
|
hello,
thanks for the info. can you please delete some of your private msgs because I want send you one. Thanks |
Awesome news. Thanks for the update. I can imagine running a company that large takes up much of your time and we greatly appreciate the time you take to fill us in. Many of the RCM member posts were mostly about our observations of the MMM and I'm glad all of the info helped.
If someone said I would own 10 traxxas trucks 10 years ago I would have laughed but their company has come a long way and in my opinion they are the most innovative RC company out there right now. With your brushless contributions and their RC know how, your companies make an incredible combination. I'm very excited what the future will bring. |
Please note, if you have a V1 or V2 that is still working we will be releasing a new firmware for all Monsters that will inoculate these earlier versions from most of the problems people have been having. With this update you can choose to keep the one you have or at lease wait before you send it in for a quicker turn around with assurance that your working unit will keep on working. Look for the release early next week. Check the downloads section on our website and look for a version higher that 3.11: http://www.castlecreations.com/downloads.html. Click on download know, scroll to the bottom of the next page and click the "I have read and understand this information, Download Now." Run the software and it will update the Castle Link software on your computer. Then plug your MMM in and update it by clicking on the 'Software' tab then clicking the 'Update Firmware' button.

Cool. Sounds good! Almost too good...Whats changed in the software that prevents hardware failures?
|
We have been told in the past that V1's were going to be replaced whether in warranty or out of warranty. So if this new software update fixes the failure issues with the V1 does it basically have a lifetime warranty?

3.11 is still the same version they released in August. There's nothing new to that version.
I already sent my V2 this morning for replacement. |
Although I am looking forward to new MMM, I will wait to make sure V3 is perfect enough.
|
Congrats and hopefully everything goes well.
Btw, is there any exclusivity clauses with the ERevo deal? Is there a possibility of ever seeing MMMs in other OEM BL vehicles down the road? |
Ryan ;-)
