very nice man....looks real good

magman 11.03.2008 08:15 PM

She goes pretty well on 2s, but I will upgrade to 3s soon! I was a little skeptical of dying the rims, but I am glad I did.

david lamontagn 11.03.2008 11:16 PM

Hey Magman, it was white rims before?:gasp:

I've a set of white rims here for my revo and i was hesitant to dye it in black, i was fear to see it gray to the place of black, but..WOW!!!!!!!! realy good result, i'll dyed mine for sure.

Your crt.5 is very beautiful:yes:

David, Thanks! I was a little nervous to dye them, but after some good advice from the forum members, I decided to try it. I left them in the dye for 1 hr. I used almost a whole bottle of dye..probably a lot of waste, but, for a $4- bottle of dye, it was worth the end results.

Don't forget to put a little white vinegar into the water before heating the water. The vinegar opens the pores of the plastic. A tip from another member. ( I used a total of 4-5oz. total )

nitro_joe 11.04.2008 10:15 AM

got a great deal on a battery for ya.....

Which kind of dye have you use?? Liquid or powder one??

lincpimp 11.04.2008 10:27 AM

Nice looking crt.5 there! The wheels look great. I have the same tires on my .5 but used the boring looking traxxas wheels... Those laced spoke wheels look soooo much better. Must be reasonably light with your setup, probably handles well!

sweetride4me 11.04.2008 10:37 AM

How's the run time on the 2s???

That Crt .5 is sick... hoping to start my build in the next 6 weeks or so.

Thanks! Not sure on run time...haven't had it out long enough for the lvc to kick in

GO-RIDE.com 11.04.2008 07:23 PM

Magman,

Your CRT.5 looks awesome. I'm in the process of upgrading my e-crt.5 to a MM, Medusa 3300, 3S Lipo. I'll let you know how it drives.

How's the new RCM chassis? Is it longer than the last version?

magman 11.04.2008 07:45 PM

The chassis is the current 40mm ext. chassis. Once Mike comes out w/the newest one,...it will be on my x-mass list!

The only down side is having to repaint a new body...I HATE painting bodies!

magman 11.04.2008 07:49 PM

I really want a 1509 in it, but, $ is tight right now.

I would love to charge a Neu motor...but I made a promise to myself last year and if I can't pay cash or use a money order, I wouldn't buy it and so far, I have not broken my own promise.

Unsullied_Spy 11.05.2008 12:47 AM

Good looking CRT you have there, those gladiators look awesome on a CRT.

Looks like you've got a pretty big pinion on there, what size is that? That's the exact motor I plan to use (got the motor but no CRT :slap:).

BlackedOutREVO 11.05.2008 01:18 AM

Have a link to that batt? Looks sick, never seen a hard case true rc pack!

Nice lookin .5! There sure fun arent they?

I hope the look of my truck comes out half as nice as yours. Tight work!

If I had the money at the time, I would have bought a Neu 1509. I have had everything ready to go into the buggy for a while...just no time to put it together.

hoovhartid 11.05.2008 07:34 PM

thats funny...if I had the money, I'd have bought the medusa 50-3300.

its never enough for us.

both of our trucks will probably run great....yet we both want the next step up in motors..

bustitup 11.05.2008 07:55 PM

well I got lucky and used up my 50% off at Nue.......I used to order a 1512 1.5d to tun in my crt.5 on 3s and 4s....was going to get the 1509 2d but figured the 1512 would be more flexable to use in other bigger trucks......with 3s and 46 spur and a 14 pinion should run good

A 1512 in a crt.5...:gasp: You will have a hard time keeping that for being mistaken for a bullet !:mdr:

A 50% off coupon from Neu...where can I pick one up...

Shock Options

I'm thinking about building a CRT.5 brushless and was wondering if anyone has tried b44 shocks on it? or would the tamiya ones like in the RCCA article be good? if not which 1/8 front shocks & springs for the rear and which springs for the revo shocks?
any input would be appreciated,
Thanks, Jordan

magman 12.02.2008 10:27 PM

Jordan...This thread is great for the front shocks, IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING you need...http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...t=crt.5+shocks

For rear shocks, I use 1/8 buggy fronts..http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/4359

magman 12.02.2008 10:29 PM

Jordan, I almost forgot...welcome to the forums!:yes::mdr:

Bad Karma 12.02.2008 10:36 PM

Thanks, looking forward to finding good info and building a durable fast car.
What do you think about the MMM CM2650 combo, I know it's overkill and that fine but I was looking at a NEU 1512 1Y or 2D and after you buy the ESC the combo would be cheaper.

magman 12.02.2008 10:52 PM

The 1512 is way over kill in a crt.5 IMO...although some members run it. I am running a 50 series Medusa on 2& 3s and it goes pretty well.. A mm esc w/ a 3s 3300 Medussa will push the truck to 43 mph. The Medusa motors are v/good motors and half the price of the Neu's

Bad Karma 12.02.2008 10:58 PM

I thought about that but if it does turn out to be too much overkill I'll put it in another conversion but would it fit? and do you think 5S or 6S (1P) A123 would be enough?

magman 12.02.2008 11:08 PM

I believe it would fit...like I said someone here is running a 1512 in a crt.5. Gearing will be limited though...Mounting the batt and esc will be tricky, but, it could be done. Your set up probably wouldn't fit in a stock chassis...Mike's chassis is 40mm longer. And his new one, when it's avail., is a tad longer than that.

Bad Karma 12.02.2008 11:15 PM

Well I was planning on building one based on the ext chassis, if i can't get a hold of an older one ill just get the new one.
Thanks for the input, Jordan
