FLM CVD's broken? sort of
well, thay kind of broke, but not in the way you'd expect. the pin came out couseing some damage. pics:

And when i looked at the ring that holds the pin in, i noticed that it was mostly a blue color unlike it used to be. Could this be from it getting hot from friction? pic:

Did you grease them. Looks blued from over heating.

The hobby shop I go to told me not to buy them because the clips weren't stay in. I tried the hot racing cvd's and they broke first time off road,so now I just use the stock stuff and haven't broke since. I have there trans case and shock towers front and rear, like them a lot.

I'm suprised you let them talk you out of the FLM cvds. Escpecially if you got some of their other products. The LHS sometimes can be pretty convincing on something your new to. I've run the CVD's on my pede and rustler every since I installed the MIPs wrong. I use to think MIP sucked because I didn't follow the directions correctly. I would geuss a year and a half now and no problems with the clips or pins comming out. Maybe you LHS just installed them wrong like I did with my first set of MIPS or maybe they had some cvds in stock they wanted you to buy instead. I have no doubts about the FLMs warrenty. In my experiece they have stood behind thier product and made good on the warrenty each time I taked to them. Even though both times it was my fault. I had back to back stub axles bend (back to back speed run cartwheels, lots of cartwheels) and they sent me out new ones. Send them and e-mail or give them a call. Tell them which part it is and see if they could ship a replacement out to you. Depending on the part they may ask for the original to be returned first.

After trying the hot racing cvd's I will stick with the stock. The flm would probably be fine, but I have not broke the stock ones, I'm tried of braking parts that don't really help performance. The lhs is where I bought the flm parts.

I use to have problem with the yokes on them. Not really the shafts themselves. Traxxas did make some impovements with the VLX yokes. Once I went brushless in the XL5's I got tires of breaking them all time. I even tried the steel 20.00 yokes traxxas sales for them. The pins kept coming out of them.
On the other side of the fence I went and bought the steel cvd for the e revo mainly cuz had some money burning a hole in my pocket. I like the looks of them also. Didn't take long before I bent a shaft. It was something like 10.00 for the steel shaft. Shortly after that I snapped the stub axle on one. Then another. I haven't replaced them yet been running steel cvds on the left side and stockers on the right. Eventually I'll pay the 15 for the two stubs, but the stock 3.3 shaft are strong and cheap to replace on ebay. What happended to the Hot Racing ones. Where'd they break on you? |
Stub axles. First jump on the track I go to. They also don't allow as much travel as the stock do,probably a design flaw.

This thread is boring...

Now I know why your post count is so high. It's the quick one liners.
Well maybe they aren't that quick, but sometimes they are fast. |

I had to go over the RCCrawler to see some scale stuff, now I have purchased enough stuff to build at least 2 1.9 scale trucks and 1 2.2 scale truck... I will post the builds here, as I only know a few people over there... |
I was only kidding you. I'm sure at least a 1/4 of that count has actually contributed to the good. JK again. Can't help it. It was a dry spell when you went on vacation, missed the one line come backs I see from you that crack me up. Keeping spirits up is a thankless job. Drinking the spirits is different.
My builds to post have be piling up. Like my email at work. I got a few I will contribute. Unfortunatly they are one's that have also been done my others. I'll try and add a little flair to the thread or something . I do have a Kyosho DST that is on the way that I don't think anyone has started a build thread on yet. Now that should get you in the mood. |
