Tsk tsk Traxxas!

I just got an email from Traxxas about the $50 rebate on the Slayer. At the bottom of the email (under the picture), there is text that reads:

Maybe I'm just a wee bit anal, but when I get emails or any correspondence from larger companies, I would expect the message to be spelled correctly, especially since there are spell-checkers that can be used.

Their marketing department fails largely!

if there the same fools that run the forum.... well ya know....

t-maxxracer32 11.17.2008 02:20 PM

i wouldn't even notice something like that.

i had to read it a couple times to even see what you were talking about (bold letters helped a bit)

BrianG 11.17.2008 02:43 PM

Hmm. It's glaringly obvious to me and caught it despite the fact that I didn't even read the bottom - it just sorta jumped out at me.

well im only 18 and i definitely do not spell everything correct.

luckily for me Firefox has a built in spell check!

Tempted 11.17.2008 04:00 PM

Traxxas would never screw up like that.....

DRIFT_BUGGY 11.17.2008 04:21 PM

That is a 20% warning on their forum

There is a difference between someone posting arbitrary comments on a forum, and a marketing email from a reputable company...

true ^^

Uhmm you think.Just because you start a thread about a misspeeled word.Thats not anal, but perhaps obsessive compulsive about perfection :) Have you ever thought of becoming quality control for ........

DickyT 11.17.2008 05:32 PM

so what exactly is regsistered anyway?

Who's Reg? Is his sister hot?

Linc should know, he seems to know all things sister'ish.

Chachi_RC 11.17.2008 06:13 PM

The problem these days is that not many people care about spelling anymore. You know....lol and other texting verbiage is what so many know these days. I am a professional (licensed as such) and I try really hard to spell correctly in letters (and even emails) and the like. But we have all read posts from "kids" that you can barely understand. No punctuation, bad spelling, etc. That is funny though! I like the post above about who is Reg, and his sister!

Not sure about that. I can tolerate spelling issues in forums because it's just a bunch of guys chatting, but written text is limiting enough as it is without introducing other ambiguities through poor spelling and grammar. Especially true for a business.

Even here, I try to observe proper spelling and grammar, and I hardly ever use a spell check feature. To me, words which are spelled wrong simply look wrong. Of course I do make mistakes (yes, it's true! lol), but neither am I representing a company and sending out a mass email to potential customers! I feel a company that takes little time in something as simple as written text may have the same ethic when it comes to their product line. Of course, this is probably not true for Traxxas, but it's the point dammit!

And yes, I know it's spelled "damn it"...

I wouldn't do well in a QC role as I would not allow the vast majority of the products out the door and the company would fire me.

And I think Chachi is correct; today's IM and texting shortcuts are just dumbing down society ("lol" isn't a word??).

I just got the email. in the latest version that text is white, and can only be seen by highlighting it ;)

BL_RV0 11.17.2008 07:57 PM
