Should I get a .5?

I was thinking about getting a CRT .5, how do you guys like yours? Are they just as good for bashing as racing?

I have seen a lot of nice conversions out there and I would like to do one myself. What motor would you guys recommend? I have a mm so I don't need a new spedo. How long on average would a 8000mah lipo last just bashin around?

I was gonna dump all my money into my E-maxx but I found a great deal on a .5. How much money does it take to make a .5 electric?

Sorry for all the questions, I just need some opinions. Thanks!

Semi Pro 12.10.2008 02:20 AM

its a great, run time will depend on what you use, alot of us are useing packs smaller than 4000mah

i have a spair crt.5 with a motor mount for sale pm me if you are interested

traxxasbasher13 12.10.2008 11:04 AM

How well will a vxl motor work in a .5?

bubble27 12.10.2008 11:15 AM

did you take a look at the hyper mini st?

Its kinda new so thats why its not on the forums.

traxxasbasher13 12.10.2008 11:21 AM

No I don't like 1/18 scale.

traxxasbasher13 12.10.2008 11:23 AM

Oh my bad its not a 1/18. I don't like its lay out.

bustitup 12.10.2008 11:50 AM

I love the crt.5 as you can see mine in my avatar.....it is an amazing car on the track....mine uses an mm with 9l feigao geared 46/14 geared for about 40 mph it will go much faster if needed....I usually run mine on 3s maxamps 5000mah and it seems to run forever....as I stated it always amazes the other guys at the track with its maneuverability and acceleration....don't hesitate... its an awesome little car IMHO

Its pretty much based on the crt .5 but with afew upgrades.

People were saying the exhaust was always prone to dmg so they covered it. Gotta bigger shocks, PBS and something else i forgot.

Hey! im not selling you the thing....its just the latest.

all good in the hood tho! xD

traxxasbasher13 12.10.2008 07:28 PM

traxxasbasher13 12.11.2008 12:48 AM

traxxasbasher13 12.11.2008 12:57 AM

You don't really need any... I switched to alloy rear hubs, front knuckles, and alloy braces. Not that this truck needs any of it, but I like the bling. I've only managed to break one turnbuckle and one front arm in over a year of owning this truck. I'd say the only upgrade that you'd really want is a longer chassis (rcm, bce, or ofna). The ext chassis isn't really needed, but its nice to have a full size servo in there.

As for the turnigy motor, I have no experience with them, but I hear they are not very good. Your VXL should be better.

traxxasbasher13 12.11.2008 07:32 PM

Ok I'll stick with the vxl.

traxxasbasher13 12.12.2008 09:55 AM

Ok I have a problem. I have no clue what to use for a battery tray. Can anybody help me. How well would a rcm battery tray work? How could I mount it? I will be using Rhino 4900 3s lipos. Here is a link:http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...0C_Lipoly_Pack

mine is made out of plexi....I didnt build it but it looks very easy....check out my thread maybe get some ideas

theres not much room in a crt.5 to lay the battery flat...so most bats have to go on there side

maxxjedi 12.12.2008 12:17 PM

I used a axial battery mount from my ax-10. It has holes in it that you can use to mount it to the chassis. The back hole fits in the motor screw slot. The front hole has to be drilled. Then the battery stays in place using the velcro straps. I can snap a pic of it tonight when I get home from work.

traxxasbasher13 12.12.2008 01:40 PM

Thanks.

traxxasbasher13 12.12.2008 08:28 PM

traxxasbasher13 12.14.2008 01:00 AM

bubble27 12.14.2008 09:44 AM

traxxasbasher13 12.14.2008 01:58 PM

traxxasbasher13 12.19.2008 12:44 PM
