Losi 1/8 On Road - Brushless?

Why yes! With a few parts from the Losi L8 late model I got me an on-road. :yipi: The conversion is a Tekno V3 kit for the 8ight buggy. The motor is a Tekno Neu 1515 2.5D (1700kv) powered by 6S lipos. Body is a Kyosho Inferno GT Aston Martin DB9.

Very nice.

Looks great! What parts were required to switch the buggy over to the L8 model? How does it run so far?

riceman 12.24.2008 03:57 PM

Thanks guys - Here's a list of some of the parts:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...prodDetailTabs

I used the front and rear shock towers. Front bumper and foam. And the rear body mount.

I'm looking to pick up a set of front shocks as it uses the shorter front shocks all around. In the mean time I had a set of Jato shocks laying around so I bolted those on. Everything needs to be stiffened up for on road. I'll post up video of the maiden voyage shortly. So far so good. Needs a little dialing in but not bad so far...

brushlessboy16 12.24.2008 04:01 PM

I love those wheels and tires!

Very nicely done :)

That body looks sweet!!

I am a little dissapointed... You aren't dirt oval racing it.. But oh well it looks sweet anyway.

I saw those Losi tires at the LHS the other day but held off buying them. Anyone know how they hold up? My GTP tires are getting pretty worn and I'll soon be riding on the inner foams...

magman 12.24.2008 04:47 PM

Very nice....next spring I plan on doing what you did to a buggy as well

Are those Losi tires? They look like Ofna tires and wheels to me.

Could be I guess. I just assumed they were Losi tires/wheels since they are on a Losi vehicle. Plus, like I said, I saw some tires at the LHS that looked VERY close (if not exactly) like the ones in the pic.

riceman 12.24.2008 07:52 PM

Video is up!

Thanks for the responses guys. The tires in the pics are OFNA. In the video I'm running Twister tires which are very similar to the GRPs.

:surprised: Maybe it's the clutchbell....

marzac2 12.25.2008 12:49 AM

Yaa it's the clutch bell.

I had a chance to drive this and I had a blast (thanks Glen). It was needing some stiffer suspension set-up, but it was on rails anyway. I think we may have damaged the nice body during our rampage testing though.

Unsullied_Spy 12.25.2008 04:34 AM

Nice! Have you added a cap or TVS to the power leads on the MM to handle the power?

phatmonk 12.25.2008 08:23 AM

Very nice conversion.I have allways liked onroad cars. Its a visual thing. That is a buggy setup so its alot easier to drive at higher speeds.I was into nitro 1/8 GP cars and rally cars.So all I need now is a losi l8.:party:

No. Just added an external BEC and disabled the internal one.
Plus the fan.
