Project CR-01 JEEP Crawler

Now I know this isnt the typical place to post suck work because honestly I am not sure if you guys appreciate this stuff.
this is a little project I am working on that I got from a customer of mine in trade. Hopefully as this progresses it will be one hell of a scale crawler when I am done.

WOW, nice detail, very nice

Gee 12.25.2008 01:39 AM

Really nice work. I am curious if this a part of the crawling experiece? I'm not real experienced with the crawlers and in my mind I know what I am askng but putting it down isn't working.

Is the detail put into building a crawler one of the things that is looked at or say noticed, appreciated by other crawlers? Is detail the bling for a crawler? Is so that's some serious bling you got going there.

What's_nitro? 12.25.2008 03:06 AM

I hope that by "suck work" you mean "absolutely amazing work".

I used to build plastic models when I was a kid (haha, only 10 years ago) but I would never get into such detail. Very nice job so far.

FastXR 12.25.2008 11:32 AM

Oh man leather seats and leather wrapped steering wheel, carpeted floors, talk about attention to detail. Very cool keep up the good work.

lincpimp 12.25.2008 12:10 PM

Yep, that is really nice, scale crawlers are a blast to drive and watch. The detail definately makes a crawler. It is just cool watching the suspension work and going slow is actually fun. I have done crawlers on and off for a few years now, and I am just getting into the scale portion. It is alot of work, but worth it for the final product.

team3six 12.26.2008 02:29 AM

Thanks guys, That makes me feel better about the time and seffort Im putting into this.

lincpimp 12.26.2008 02:32 AM

Oh yeah, I saw one of your rcs in the readers rides in a mag, good looking truck!

Gee 12.26.2008 04:37 AM

I've looked those pictures over a few times and it is really an excellent job. Must of take some time and patience to do.

_paralyzed_ 12.26.2008 07:40 PM

sweet build, we do appreciate this kind of stuff.

TexasSP 12.27.2008 12:42 PM

Looking nice, I will keep a watch on this thread. I am in the beginning stages of a MRC Unimog Scaler myself.

team3six 01.10.2009 06:33 PM

Almost done with all the seats. I decided to add some seatbelts to the front ones for now

TDC57 01.12.2009 03:37 AM

What a great job, you’ve got some attention to detail only a few have  (I’m not one of them):lol:

 Did you hand stitch the fabric on the seats and custom build the steering wheel wrap? If so DUDE you need a girl.. hahahhaaaa sorry..

team3six 01.12.2009 01:03 PM

I married man, No I didnt stitch the seats, but the wrap is wraped on the steering wheel. But hey this is why they call it SCALE!

jayjay283 01.12.2009 05:25 PM

That is really nice man, reminds me of the old days when Id make tamiya models spending hours painting a shift knob or when I used to paint pewter gobblins and such. Dont have the patience for that anymore, glad you do. Thats true artwork well done sir

team3six 01.15.2009 11:45 PM

So what is a Scale crawler with out a scale RC truck and Transmitter. Complete with a team3six paintjob

BL_RV0 01.15.2009 11:57 PM

Too cool man.

MTBikerTim 01.16.2009 01:27 AM

That's sweet. can't wait to see it finished.

T600 02.04.2009 06:25 PM

that would be hard!!!!!!!!!! to do all the small stuff

team3six 02.04.2009 07:33 PM

Ohh, it gets so much better, lol. I just fished up doing the smaller detail of the already small details that nick Rummy did for me on a Racing Fuel cell. Ill have pics of that soon. I finished the rear seats earlier today.

team3six 02.04.2009 09:21 PM

Worked on more of my project while waitng for other parts.

Finished up the back seat and added the seatbelts and Nick Rummy made this Racing Fuel cell for me and I painted it and put it together today. And yup, Those are scale bolts in the top. Not sure where Nick found them but they look pretty sweet.

You know they actually sell a CR-01 Jeep edition, right? They have them here in Japan.

team3six 02.04.2009 11:05 PM

But they dont sell what I am doing.

MTBikerTim 02.04.2009 11:12 PM

No they don't. That is looking sweet.

team3six 02.06.2009 01:51 AM

Did some more building to my CR-01 today.

Did the mock up of the front and rear bumpers and they are off to Nick Rummy to get all done up. also finished off the roll bar with some padding. Just wainting now for the shell which was done by Todd kerby of TKcustoms.

A little bit more on the detailed update of the crawler.
Turns out the chassis I purchased for this isnt going to work. so that will be on another project. I was going to have Nick make the bumpers for me, But money is a bit tight so I decided to keep it a bit more scale and true to me doing the work. So I added a stinger, put on the winch, made a couple of magazines (one you may recognize), made a first aid kit for them rough encounters, Jumper cables just in case, Night sac for them cold crawler nights, Detailed the ole micro RC truck, Couple of tow ropes, and a map of colorado, Got rid of them ugly proline covers and decided to go with my own. And of course I cant for get the beer! So hope you all enjoy.

Ryu James 02.16.2009 03:17 AM

i'm absolutely blown away! nice job

TexasSP 02.16.2009 10:20 AM

You should make these parts and sell them. The guys on rccrawler.com would pay you a fortune for the scale stuff.

Very nice work.........as usual.

BL_RV0 02.16.2009 02:54 PM

Incredible! VERY NICE JOB!!!

redshift 02.17.2009 12:43 AM

Wow those are some big hooks on the bungees lol I can see those taking a musclehead to put on- he don't look much like a Lite beer drinker, more like wine cooler.... must have the beer for his women........

Incredible work! The jumper cables--- how the fvck?

Stunning- you have the knack man!

team3six 02.20.2009 02:17 AM

OK, a little more on the update. Still working on the jiffs with the chassis but I am getting it narrowed down. Got my shackles and hook from scaleoffroad today. Looks very scale! Found an excellent way to make mounts for the shackles which worked out perfect. the bumpers had circled areas where lights would normaly go. I tapped out the centers and drilled them out with a reamer and an exacto blade. and I had these body posts from back in the day that were for a T Maxx. They basically would sit on the top of the original posts and when the body would seat down, there would only be a small nipple sticking up. lol, yeah I said nipple! anyways they woulded out great and I was able to place a cotter pin through them on the other side to secure them and then added some super glue. Popped the shacles on and screwed in the secure pin.
