Gold plugs/pinions

Which gold plugs do it get for a 8xl/9920 setup? The "High Amp. Gold plug 5.5 mm, 150 Amp" or the "3.5mm Gold plugs"?? Is one type better than the other?

Im going to be using 16 ib3800 cells if that makes any difference.

And what type of pinion should i get? im using a 64 tooth traxxas spur and stock slipper for now. Should i get Mod1? what size bore should i get? How many teeth should i get? I want it to reach around 45-50 in second gear.

Thanks for the help

You need the 5.5 mm plugs, for both the motor/esc and the batteries/esc. (the 8XL allready comes with 5.5 plugs soldered to the motor, but you only can get pairs of them..)

Yeah, a mod 1 pinion/spur would be wise to do.. you need a strobe slipper to make it work then.

It takes a 51t spur and a 14t pinion. (45 mph)

Basketti 12.11.2005 05:15 AM

oh ok cool 5.5mm it is. I'm gonna use deans connectors for the batteries to the esc cause all my packs have deans on them already.

i was going to get the strobe slipper but funds wont allow it at the moment :( That will be my next and hopefully last hopup(Yeah right! lol)

So i get the "5mm bore 32 pitch pinion gears"? might try an 18 tooth, is that ok with the 64tooth spur? How do you work out the gear ratio and how fast it will go? I also have the supermaxx 8 spider diffs, does that effect the speed?

Serum 12.11.2005 05:23 AM

no, i based calculations on the ue diffs. (those are 43/13 stockers are 37/13)

64/18 would do about the same as the 51/12

Basketti 12.11.2005 05:32 AM

How do you work it out serum? Or is that a Serum Secret?:p

Sorry mate, i wanted to share this document with you.. somehow i forgot in my earlier post.

It's just a simple calculator i made for a centerdiff powered maxx, with 43/13 diffs, i changed the gearing ratio for 2nd speed. (it is the gearing ratio of the gearbox and the diffs, it excludes the pinion and the spur, you can change those in the left two columns

cool thanks, what programme do i need to open it up? cant open it at the moment

Serum 12.11.2005 05:56 AM

Basketti 12.11.2005 05:58 AM

Serum I just saw on the BK website that the plugs on wanderer serie 20 are 3.5mm..I also thought the plugs were 5.5mm.. Typo maybe?

Serum 12.11.2005 06:28 AM

there is an excel viewer available for download. i don't think you can edit the file with it though..

Serum 12.11.2005 06:30 AM

yeah, i thought they are 3.5's too, because of this.. But Batfish/Joe and Mike say they are 5.5's...

mothman 12.11.2005 06:35 AM

I saw that thread too, then I checked on the BK website. They are 3.5mm.. Maybe Mike can tell us something.

Serum 12.11.2005 06:37 AM

Yeah, i didn't quite understand it either.. Somehow i can't imagine they are 5.5's, even the 2250 motor uses the 3.5 plugs..

$w!ft 12.11.2005 08:21 AM

Ok just wanted to make a test with my 1930/7 motor, ue diffs and 17/72 gearing.

17 / 72 / 5.79 / 145mm / 1875(kv motor-what do i put this to?) / 19.6 V for 16 cells 14.4V for 12 / est speed 41mph for 16 cell.

Im unsure about what to put in KV motor and gearing ratio

coolhandcountry 12.11.2005 09:16 AM

Hey swift if that is the same motor from the other thread. It is a1930 12t at this moment. Just to let you know.

$w!ft 12.11.2005 09:17 AM

oh, so what does the 7 at the back mean?

nbcaznmaster 12.11.2005 09:32 AM

when u done, tell me wut runtimes u getting, cuz i might get that to race with.

The wanderer motors have 5.5mm plugs. Not sure hwere it is posted that they have 3.5mm plugs(lehner motors have the 3.5mm plugs), but the wanderer motors all have female 5.5mm plugs attched already.

The 22 have 3.5 plugs? Weird. The 19 hi-amp version comes with no plugs at all.

rchippie 12.11.2005 02:34 PM

Does mike sell the 5.5mm plugs ?.Serum did you get my pm ?.

Serum 12.11.2005 02:54 PM

Yeah, Mike sells those plugs..

Got your PM hippie, but i still haven't finished it, i am working on a nice way to mount the batteries..

danhfvcsd 12.13.2005 02:43 AM

yeah - the 2230 i have here uses 3.5mm plugs - is that a bad thing?? The 5.5 plugs i would have thought would be needed on a larger motor such as this?

Assuming it isn't the case anyways - since the mtoor already has the female 3.5mm plugs on the end of the motor....right? -lol-
