Aluminum tranny gears

Just a curious question, but how many members here would be interested in some of the metal transmission gears for their e-maxxes(besides me!)?

toby 02.20.2005 10:41 PM

when i get my emaxx...i mean my brushless

MaxxFusion 02.20.2005 11:17 PM

Count me in.

HotnCold 02.21.2005 08:33 AM

whats an e-maxx? - lol - count me in

Juju 02.21.2005 12:06 PM

Me too :D

Serum 02.21.2005 01:36 PM

Let me be true to my origin.. (Dutch)

How much?

The only company that made them stopped producing them, so you would be the only one who could deliver them. (i'm pretty sure you already considered that)

ryanvm777 02.21.2005 01:59 PM

I'm with Serum : How much? ......cuz I'm Dutch.

HotnCold 02.21.2005 02:32 PM

dutch

LMAO - there is a guy at our local track - he happens to be a good friend of mine - he's dutch - and thats his first ? all the time -thats too funny -

ryanvm777 02.21.2005 02:58 PM

I'm an Americanized dutchman so most of the time I end up buying it. When dealing with mike my 2nd email always says "how much is that going to cost?"

MaxxFusion 02.21.2005 03:03 PM

LOL

HotnCold 02.21.2005 03:25 PM

My friend - the true dutch dutchman wants to start running a bl emaxx with us - he wants mike and i to put one together one ( fully loaded ) for 500 bucks or so - ROTFLMAO - once he wakes up from that dream we will try to get him to really buck up and maybe one day..... but i doubt it - he rarely spends a thousand for a car he can ride in - lol

Serum 02.21.2005 03:37 PM

Ryan...
serious? You're dutch too?

I didn't knew... Thought I was one of the two out here..

Hot'n Cold.. a WHOLE thousand on a 1:1 car?!?!?! Sure he's Dutch?!

HotnCold 02.21.2005 03:47 PM

yea - bit the car was full of other stuff he can transfer into his basement and attic for years of dust collecting - lol

ryanvm777 02.21.2005 03:52 PM

I'm dutch. I live in the US but my grandparents came from Holland, I dont speak it thow. My last name is Vander Meulen, My Dutch comes out when it comes to money, black licorice, siroopwafels and stuberness.

Serum 02.21.2005 04:31 PM

FYI.. That's stroopwafels.. ;)

van der Meulen is a tippical dutch name. Meulen is dialect for Mill (Meul'n)

There is a famous bakery here in Holland, also called van der Meulen

Was your grandfather founder of Zeeland and other dutch named places in Michigan?

But..

How much for those gears Mike? :D

7075 aluminum?

ryanvm777 02.21.2005 04:42 PM

wasnt sure how to spell stroopwafels so I just copied whatever was on the package. I dont think so about my grandfather or my great grandfather, not sure never met either one. I've been told that my last name means " of the wind mill" When my grandparents or great grandparents came from Holland I believe they put van and Der together when they came to the US......Mike how much did you say those tranny gears would be.

How much.?!?!...

NO way thats to much.!!!

.......

Well I'll have to think about it thats a lot of $$$

LOL:D :D :D

RC-Monster Mike 02.21.2005 05:46 PM

I don't know how much. Just figured I would determine the demand first! Seems as though people want them, as long as they are cheap!

Megazone23 02.22.2005 12:28 AM

So if you change the tranny gears to aluminum and install a metal idler gear, then pretty much the point of failure in the tranny moves to the spur gear or the slipper clutch, and that's it, right? Or are there plastic gears in the diff, too?

I suppose that if you want something to fail, those would be the top contenders, since they're fairly accessible, or am I missing something?

ryanvm777 02.22.2005 01:57 AM

In the diffs the gears are not plastic but there is a cup that is plastic with small screws. You can upgrade to Maximizer 7075 Aluminum diff cups with bigger screws. You can also get metal spur gear and a double splipper clutch.

Superemaxx89 02.22.2005 03:06 AM

i'd keep the spur plastic, i rather that strip than something in the tranny or diffs. Metal spurs eat up pinion gears as well. Slipper clutchs dont really break, they just wear out over time...this would not be from all metal gears.

rc4x4nut 02.22.2005 08:38 PM

You could count me in Mike. What would be cool also is if it were to be produced is offering options such as a 2nd gear only mod or even first gear and of course the entire set.

I had ultramaxxed gears and I sold them. I definitely regret selling them.

I thought of just doing the second gear with the G-maxx single speed tranny case (when it is finished, of course).

toby 02.22.2005 09:17 PM

tranny case? AWESOME

Awesome. My truck is going to be going though many changes. Right now I am looking for a hotter BL setup.

Megazone23 02.23.2005 12:31 AM

Not to change the subject or anything, but once you go brushless, is there any reason to stick with the 2 speed tranny?

Superemaxx89 02.23.2005 02:51 AM

not for me, but some people maybe.

lipomax 02.23.2005 03:13 AM

Yeah. For racing, probably not, but for bashing, you occasionally wanna go beyond 30's. Suppose you were bashing around at 35 mph and some hot shot comes around with a 40 mph gas MT. Just put it in second gear and you can shut that person up pretty quick.

HotnCold 02.23.2005 07:05 AM

Lipomaxx hit that one on the head - shut them up real quick - then go back to foolin around until the next unsuspecting victim......

Dafni 02.23.2005 02:55 PM

Count me in for a set of those gears!

Sylvester 02.28.2005 07:00 PM

me me me ! i want those gears!

Chase023 03.01.2005 02:25 AM

Anyone needing or wanting those aluminum E-Maxx transmission casings and what colors would be popular or wanted? Just a poll nothing more at this point!

Dafni 03.01.2005 04:21 AM

Ooh, a black or blue anodized gear box would be too cool!

Serum 03.01.2005 04:29 AM

I JUST found out a nice way to anodize aluminum yourself!!

The lighter spot is water that isn't damped yet. It looks perfect..

MaxxFusion 03.01.2005 08:16 AM

I may be interested. Depednds on price.

toby 03.01.2005 08:18 AM

sorry. i am not quite sure what you guys are talking about but wouldn't a little bit of some kind of acid work for anodizing?

Megazone23 03.01.2005 09:03 AM

Red would be nice

liborlad 03.03.2005 08:49 PM

Hi all, I'm a newbie to this RC monstertruck stuff but this and other forums has been a great help to me. So thanks everyone.
I bought my first Emaxx in January just passed and have already upgraded loads of stuff with UE, Great Assembly & Gmaxx parts. My next step is to go brushless with a 9L/9918 setup.

I looked into getting the fabled ultramaxxed tranny gears but was told they are out of production. Then lo and behold I received an email from Dan at Ultramaxx in the last couple of days offering me the chance to buy a full set of a new limited production run he is doing! Here is a transcript of the email I got:

"Only 15 more sets will be made at this time. I'm contacting the last people that sent me an email inquiry such as yourself. You will have first dibs on a set. The remaining sets will go on Ebay. The bad news it will be about a month to get them done. The price increase is due to the small production of
only 15 sets.
So if you can wait a bit, they will be back better than ever.
Regards,
Dan"

The price is now $200, there may only be 14 sets left as I've already booked mine!;)

RC-Monster Mike 03.03.2005 09:18 PM

Interesting!

toby 03.03.2005 09:19 PM

is tha a high price or good price?
