Trev's Snowmobile

Thought it should be placed here.

So far,
Dtx intellispeed Forward only esc
Titan 12t (Tough motor, been in a pede, revo 3.3 and now a sled)
TQ Radio
7 Cell ni-mh
Cut windsheld

Getting repainted tomorrow

So far, its running flaw less, turning could be a little tighter, but i know what the problem is and i'll fix it tomorrow. For a total of 5 hours of gluing and such. Im happy with the turn out, because a revo with hole shots can't make it threw powder.

Where did you get that thing? I want one, as long as its cheap. Looks like it was easy to mod as well.

trev3813 01.19.2009 12:26 AM

I got mine at wal mart 2 yrs ago

jayjay283 01.19.2009 02:49 AM

Awsome thanks for posting. Thats a headlight man I need that im jealous, its a friggin walmart special, looks about as nice as mine. Im going to freak mine out .. I have to get the video cam from my neice so you see this thing on 4800kv losi on 3s its funny so fast its a joke, the lipo puffs huge in seconds. later plans are a 2750 1512 or 09 on 4s with a MM or maybe a boat controller as it doesnt seem to need brakes

trev3813 01.19.2009 01:54 PM

Ah, nicee, nah, really don't need brakes. In the real world, you don't use brakes alot on real sleds.

heres the progress ive made on mine so far.

just have to come up with a drive system

PedeBasher 01.25.2009 09:36 PM

WOW! I have that same yellow ski! I was pondering how to make it faster and more responsive. You pretty much solved my problems! Now I just need to open mine up.

Looks great though! Is the yellow ski the same as the red one, at least on the inside?

trev3813 01.25.2009 10:03 PM

Yup, both the same, just different colors.

PedeBasher 01.25.2009 10:13 PM

Sweet. I was scared to hack into mine but I pretty much can see how you did it. Maybe I will try mine later tonight and throw my SW in.

traxxasrevony 01.25.2009 10:30 PM

whatever you do try not to trash the stock gear case. thats the easiest way to get power to the track. i modded the track drivers tho so the track wouldnt skip anymore. so i new the stock gear drive would fail. now i have to come up with a custom drive setup witch is going to be hard to do.

PedeBasher 01.26.2009 09:19 PM

How did you get your tranny out? Ive been messing with mine and i cant get to some screws.

traxxasrevony 01.26.2009 10:40 PM

i dont remember lol. i took this apart a longgggg time ago. got any pics of the ones your having trouble with? or how far you got?

PedeBasher 01.26.2009 11:20 PM

Well to both trev and traxxas, i got everything but the gear cover off. Thats what I am stuck on. I will try to get pics but I really dont want to hi jack trev's thread.

Anyway, trev we will have to race. Mine is gana be lipo and brushless (yay).:intello:

traxxasrevony 01.27.2009 12:02 AM

im sure trev wouldnt mind. afterall this is the project x thread and how can you make a project x if you cant get it apart.

there should be three tabs around the gear case warm the tabs up with a blow dryer and carfully take it apart. i saw warm it so the tabs dont snap.

trev3813 01.28.2009 05:40 PM

Yeah, post up some pics, i'd be glad to help.

_paralyzed_ 01.29.2009 02:48 PM

Thanks for posting! Some questions:

What size pinion, and did 32 pitch work okay?

Is there any adjustment for gear mesh, or is it fixed?

Thanks!

trev3813 01.29.2009 03:49 PM

16 tooth, 32 is perfect, and mine is fixed, you could prolly mod it to be adjustable.

_paralyzed_ 01.29.2009 05:16 PM

sweet! Does the 12t 550 feel "adequate". The wal-mart electronics leave alot to be desired.

trev3813 01.29.2009 09:27 PM

Definably powerful enough for the sled, the suspension kept braking in one spot which kept screwing the cogs up. All you need to do is mod it so more of the cogs are contacting the track.

Well, I got where I need to be but I want to know if you took the gear cover off or kept it on and worked around it. Hard to tell from the pics.

trev3813 01.30.2009 01:55 AM

Ah, i left the gear cover on, it helps keep the gears inline.
