house got broken into yesterday
hey guys so yesterday was one weird day... i went up to phoenix with one of my freinds to check out the college at around 1030 AM.. around 1pm my brother calls me telling me that our house got broken into and the effed my room up... i was not too happy about this but after an hour or so i calmed down and had fun while i was in phoenix... didnt seem real
well when i got home it turned real... my room was trashed. everything was gone. its weird to think that i worked hard for all these things and then a person comes in and they have it all in less than 30 minutes. heres a list so far of the things that are missing.. 50' plasma ps3 (they didnt take games, controllers or the rock band 2 set:oh:) brand new hp special edition laptop... this is what im most upset about couple hundred cash in my safe brand new miluakee drill set crafstman tool set digital camera i got for graduation those really sweet bose big headphones my brand new custom made jordan shoes (this made me pretty pissed off too) bunch of random things that arent worth a whole lot but still... its a weird feeling... coming into my room now and not seeing anything.. to look on the bright side... noone got hurt, they didnt go to my grandmas house (we have a second house in the back for her), and they really didnt trash the house except my room. we think it might be one of me and my brothers old friend... i called up all my shady freinds and told them to talk to everyone they know and see if they hear anything about it... other than that i really dont know what to do. we filed a police report yesterday and everything like that.. all my freinds know this kid who we think it is but the problem is is that he is one effed up kid now... hes always strapped and down for whatever.. kinda scared to go over to his house i guess. my life isnt worth all the stuff stolen. anyways i feel better now that i vented a little. im surprisingly OK with everything that happened.... noone got hurt so i cant be too upset. all in all it was probably 6-7 thousand taken from me:no: everyone have a good day! |
I know what you are feeling, I recently moved to Statesboro Ga and had to leave my house in Warner Robins Ga unattended for a period of time. I lost a lot of my RC stuff, My SRT's, a few touring cars and all my Nitro stuff, They left all the broken or unassembled stuff, makes me think it was kids. I also lost a computer, PS2, a laptop, two tv's (nothing fancy), My PSP and a few other things. I did manage to save a few things, but it hurt for a while. I was always was raised, If you can't afford it, you don't need it, I guess some people are not right in their thinking. I do believe Karma is a bitc* and they will get theirs eventually
|
man that sucks. i got $70 stolen from me the other day. they grabbed my wallet, took the money, LEFT THE CREDIT CARDS! and i had probably about $200 worth of gift cards and they didnt take a single one of those.
|
That is terrible news. It sure does sound like they knew right where to go for the good stuff.
Question: Was your safe unlocked, or were they able to crack it? Also, are you able to cash in on some insurance for any of it? Good luck. I hope it works out for you. I had the rims stolen off my car once, and I was less than pleased about it. I know the guy that did it too, but I would never have been able to prove it. Bleh. |
That is not cool! What is this world coming to??? You might want to check pawn shops and see if anything is there. They might have information about the person that brought it in. Good luck with everything!
|
That sucks, but as you said life is more important than things. It does sound like an inside job. Down here the big crime is roofers ripping you off. There are alot of out of town companies still doing hurricane repairs. The cops tell me that they sit on the roof all day watching the surrounding houses. Watching what your schedule is and hit you when the house is empty the day they leave.
|
On the bright side, at least you don't have to keep that plasma maintained!!
Seriously though, that sucks. Good to hear nobody was hurt and you filed a P report. Got insurance? |
This type of thing gets me so mad. Not that "stuff" is important in the grand scheme of things, but you do work hard to get what you have just to have some douche come in and take it. I wish a harsher stance would be taken on thieves, especially to this scale; something like cutting off hands and/or shot in the face with birdshot would be sufficient.
|
Sorry to hear about your break in. these things are becoming far more common these days, the world really is in sorry shape right now. You seem to have handled it well, better that I would have.
I'm with Brian on the hand cutting off, providing you can prove guilt. Bird shot to the face might me a bit extreme. But the hand thing, YEAH! They have done it to thieves in the middle east fora few thousand years, let update our laws to allow it! |

Wow. I'm really sorry for you. Fortunately your Grandmother's place is OK. I can't even think of what I would feel like if that happened.
Cutting off the hand is cruel, but I agree that it would work. Screw birdshot, buckshot is more effective. My shotgun has a barrel just barely legal (18.5") and I keep that and my AR-15 handy just in case. |
I only say birdshot because it should hurt a LOT, but not kill, and be totally obvious to anyone who looks at them what they did and should not be trusted. Sort of like a badge of shame. While we're at it, let's castrate them to keep that flawed DNA isolated.
Yeah, I have very little tolerance for criminals. |

I'm the same way, no tolerance for criminals. Violate my rights and you give up yours. |
"Violate my rights and you give up yours."
Now there's a quote worth remembering. After reading your description of what happened Tmaxxracer, I would DEFINATELY say that the person that did this was close to you, at least at some point. This was carefully planned. They knew the approximate time that you were leaving. I would go so far as to say, they even knew where you were going. They knew you wouldn't be back for quite some time. I would imagine you were being watched as you left. My best advice would be, to work closely with the Police. Tell them everything you know and everything you suspect. Your "Evidence" will be to locate the stolen stuff. Figuring out where it went will be the challenge. I give a VERY good chance that you know this person or it is someone that you're acquanted with. |
That the sucks. I've had my car broken into a few times, but nothing like a house. The worst part about it is that someone was inside your place touching/taking your shit.
No one just randomly just wanders into a house, finds one room and just takes all the good stuff and leaves the rest of the place untouched. Someone had to know what they were going for (assuming this isn't a one BR or studio apt...) Hopefully the cops will get off their A's and help you out on this, esp if you have a good idea who's done it. Unfortunately cops seem generally useless when it comes to this. They don't want to do anything about it, and even seem annoyed you've come to them (been my experience w/ my cars, and dealing with several diff police dpts, so it doesn't seem isolated.) |
Surprised no one said this yet. You didn't mention anything about your RC stuff getting stolen, be thankful for that! Neus, LiPos, and MMMs add up quick to. I keep all my stuff in some tool crates on wheels. If someone got into my place they could roll out a couple grand with almost no effort!
|
Hey t-maxxracer32, I am an insurance agent that specializes in homeowners insurance and if I can help with any kind of advice at all, please feel free to let me know. I hate it when this kind of stuff happens to good people. Seriously, if there is anything I can do or help with from an advice standpoint, please let me know. My services are at your disposal. Take care.

Hope ya had something like this on your laptop: http://www.lojackforlaptops.com/products/premium.asp
With that software, and a little "persuasive tipping" to the vendor that tracks the stolen laptop, you could get the name and address of the low-life scum bag that snatched your gear...then you could go have a little "go to Jesus meeting" with him/her.:diablo::grrrrrr::bad::slap::whip: |
I know how you feel! That really sucks! I would be very mad... But it's good to hear that they didn't go to your grandma's house. I hope the Police in the US is a little bit better than here in the Netherlands...
A few years ago, my fathers motorbike was stolen, he knew exactly which guy did it, and he still knows, but the police does NOTHING :whip: I hope you'll find that guy! |
i have a password on my computer so if they ever close it it will lock up and they shouldnt be able to crack it. my password is wack...
i know there are ways around the password but they are tweakers.. they dont know shit. we do have insurance and we totalled everything up to be around 20k in loss... (my parents safe got stolen.. lots of cash) so im almost positive we are going to file a claim. if they would have even went to my grammas house... man... i woudlnt even think twice about going to their home and effing it up so bad.. im protective with my family... anyways theres actually a cop here right now talking with us and he seems that he wants to help. im going to try the pawn shops in about a week (they have to hold all items before 10 days before putting out to the public) thanks for the support and funny clips guys!! chachi im going to be pming you in a sec |
Ive never been burgaled but have has my house catch fire twice. Lost about $10k of rc stuff, my beloved '63 lincoln continental project car, and everything that means anything to me. Ryan, I am very sorry to hear for your losses and know kind of what you have been through.+
|
wow...
i guess i really cant complain too much then.. it could have been A LOT worse.. |
Bummer man, that bites.
On the up side, I got a new plasma tv, power tools, PS3 (no games), new laptop and a digital camera from my mate 'Baz' down the pub... |
haha my freinds said the same thing when i told them.
thanks for the laugh neil |
Sorry to hear about that dude. As someone who's been burglarized before I definitely know how crappy that feels. I totally agree with extremely harsh punishment for crimes like that. The reality is that burglaries are rarely solved but hopefully you get lucky. It's a good chance it's someone you know or who lives around you.
|
so the cops went to the kids house that we all thought it was. he ended up being clean. well... his house is clean. if he was smart he woulda taken the stuff to someone elses house... now to find out where he took it...
ive seen too many detective shows so it makes me think i have a chance at finding the stuff. lol. ill keep you all updated |

Not that it compares in scale to what you experienced, but I had my car CD player ripped out of my dash a few years ago. I went to work @ 12pm, went out to my car for my break @ 3pm and it was gone... I was in a front corner spot in the lot, too and noone saw anything. :surprised: The security guy where I was working (who I was good friends with) suggested what would've happened if they had caught him in the act... I responded with: WHAT IF I HAD CAUGHT HIM IN THE ACT!!!!! :grrrrrr: I tell you what, they would've been picking up pieces- and I don't own any weapons..... |
Yeah, that sucks. I've had my house burglarized too. Not a fun experience... especially when my neighborhood has a private security guard who sleeps on duty all the time. My brother (who was home at the time) was really shaken up by it. Luckily he only got away with a box of silverware since my brother caught him in the act, but it could have been MUCH worse (especially if this guy turned out to be violent).
I feel your pain man. I hope everything works out for you. |
thats sucks, I had my back pack stolen once while we were skateboarding in town (it had my video camera, digtal camera, tripod, mp3 player, some skateboard trucks and tools, and my wallet and house keys (about 900 worth of stuff) well as soon as me and my buddies realized it was gone we all spilt looking for it and guess what the little dumbass kid that look my bag was at a gas station only 2 blocks away buying bunch of candy and a coke with my money wearing my bag on his back, i chased this kid around the inside this conveince store for about 3 mins before i caught the little chit (btw clerk had called the cops while this was going on) and i got arrested because i was choking the kid and punching him in the face as the cops pulled up. after about 2 hours at the police station and getting the same story from all my friends about my bag getting stolen they let me go with my bag, only neded up losing the $10 the kid blew on candy and crap......... guess i shouldnt have let my temper get the better of me becasue later this kids older siblings slashed my tires on my truck at school, so i let that one go and jsut collected the insurance and got new rims and tires, there really isnt no beating the damn lowlifes because if you do, do something they will prolly come screw with you or your stuff agian, it really sucks.
on a funny note one of my younger brother's so called "friends" skipped school one day to come to our house and try and steal about $800 worth of cooper wire my brother had been bruning the insulation off of to take to the scrap yard. Well homeboy didnt know my grandma was home and she pulled her 20 guage on them and told him and another boy with him to never come by there agian or she would "blow their candy asses away"..... it was the funniest thing id ever heard in my life. these two kids would not walk down the same hallway as me in school.....too funny! |

ok... ....this jumped out at me. get new card numbers and cancel those. This type of theft is becoming more common...the numbers of your cards along with the security codes, expiration dates, etc could have been written down...and returned to you ON PURPOSE so that you dont cancel them. get new ones, it wont cost you a thing... ALSO, another thing that is going on is this... people steal cards and go to the mall, they dont put a charge on the cards, but they use them as reference to get new ones. Almost every major clothing store asks at the register if you'd like to sign up and get their card for future discounts or some sort of promotion...most will expedite the process if you have another card they can use for a reference. So they use your card to get a new card in your name that you dont even know about. Get in touch with some credit reporting agency and make sure there arent any new credit cards in your name that you dont know about. just a suggestion |
Nobody noticed someone(s) carting out a 50" plasma outta your house? That does suck, I'm fortunate to not have experienced a robbery yet. Although I've had our bedroom thoroughly trashed and everything in it needing replacement. Car ran straight into our bedroom at like 3 in the morning. Ol lady was in bed! Car kinda scooped up the mattress and flipped her over. THANK GOD she didn't suffer any major injuries or death. But boy did it make a mess. The only thing that stopped the car was the closet wall, which btw was opposite the computer and had I been in bed (car side) or at the computer, I woulda been no more. The computer chair was mangled to hell and pinned between the car and the corner of the closet wall that stopped the car. The @#*$%@%s tried like hell to back out, smoking the tires and what not, and they jumped out and ran off. No sign of anyone by the time I ran outside. The bedroom door was blocked with crap so I couldn't get in, meanwhile I know shes in there and was in bed. The few hours worth of that crap I went through took probably 8 or 9 months off my heart's life and added a few thousand gray hairs. That was a year and a half ago, and to this day, my heart jumps everytime I hear a car outside when Im in bed. The car was stuck inside the bedroom still running, we had this huge ass bush residing inside the bedroom. And to top it all off, it took them 5, count it, 5 months to get the room fixed and able to use again! That was almost as bad as having it happen, I think sleeping on an air mattress in the living room for that long had worse effects on her back, than a god damn car running into her. Sorry just my rant, I really hate these trashy losers that do what they please and make decent folks suffer without any guilt or punishment.

you got it right rootar. even though i am almost positive i know who it is what can i really do to them if i see them on the streets? they are meth heads.. so if me and some of my freinds go and eff them up. you know they will come back with something 100x worse.
a little update... we got our insurance papers in and hopefully by the end of next week if we dont find out anything dramatic we will file for everything that got lost... my hope is that in 3 months i will be back to where i was. doesnt that suck? imagine if nothing had happened... in 3 months i could use all the money to SAVE AND PUT IT IN THE BANK!!! but o well. thats life for you!!! from now on i will make sure my house has good security, plus i will put that tracking software on my laptop. 1maxdude i could not even imagine that happening to me... ima have to say that that story tops mine... noone here got physically or mentally hurt so its not really that bad.. i hope one day you will be fine with everything and look past it all. i know it can be hard. |
Sorry to hear.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune Tmaxx. I know exactly how you feel. I had a Halloween party at my house one year and after everyone had gone home I was on the phone chatting with some chick out of state about 0400 in the morning, when I heard a noise. I had forgotten to close the garage door, and two guys were cleaning out all of my tools. They took off in a junk car and we never did find them or the stuff they stole $6K worth. Then to top it off my insurance would not accept the claim because I left the garage door open even though I was in the house, and I had no proof to show that I actually bought all of the stuff. They wanted receipts and photos of the tools to show that I actually had what I listed. I lost it all and never got a thing from the insurance. So for the rest of you, you might want to record what you have somehow. Photos, video, reciepts, inventory with serial numbers.
The other thing is that I agree that this was someone you know, and they know you very well. They were obviously only after what you had in your room, and from the sounds of it they knew exactly what to go after(kids). I was laghing when I read your first post, which say a 50' plasma. That is one huge TV... Good luck with your recovery. It does sound like you are taking it well. Like was mentioned it is just stuff. No one was hurt or killed over stuff. Stuff can be replaced, life cannot. I would be real leary though, because if these guys get away with this too easy they will do it again. Trust me stupid theives return to the scene of the crime again when they see that nothing was done. |
it sounds like to me more than 1 kid was involved. When I was a kid me and my parents went out for a Easter brunch and came back to our house being broken into all they stole was my Dads supply of booze and beer in the garage( boy was my dad pissed), you do get a feeling of being violated.I have a house alarm that was free and we just pay a service of $35 a month to service. I know how angry it makes you feel, but if you are home and someone breaks into your home be careful about being Clint Eastwood and shhotting them you could get into lots of trouble for that. If you do shhot them make sure they dont survive and none of the exit wounds are in thier back

Watch the show It takes a thief on discovery. It is amaizing how someone can empty a house in broad daylight and not be noticed. My brother had the windows of his car smashed, all his stereo equipment taken, ripping the back seat out to get a close to 100lb speaker box and amps all 3' from the house with 2 dogs inside. It must have taken some time and huge balls to pull it off, but they got it all out. Damage to the car was close to $2000. Tore the inside to shreads.

also there had to be at least 3 people... 2 people to get the tv and a driver. idk |
Never had my home broken into but my vehicle has been. It def makes you feel violated. They smashed the window on my Dodge Ram and took my in-dash dvd player. They ripped the dash apart, destroyed the interior door panel with the broken glass, the outside of the door had to be re-painted as well as the door jam cause they tried prying the door open first. Insurance covered it all except my deductible, I made up for that by getting a lower level radio. Best part was that the joke was on them, the dvd player had an extra brain box in the dash that they never took, making it useless to them. This all happened at a shop where my truck was getting lifted and mine wasn't the only vehicle vandalized. They also took the radio out of a Super-Duty and took a whole Jeep Wrangler renegade! Sorry for hijacking the thread but seems everyone has been posting their stories as well.

Wouldn't something like that be on the shop and not your insurance? I know how insurance companies can be weasels when it comes to paying out money and they give you the run around saying, we wont pay for it, they should, then they say, we aren't gonna and it seems like a never ending loop. When the car ran into our place, my renter's insurance didn't technically cover her stuff or even her injuries because her name wasn't on the policy. But she is on our car insurance policy, which we ended up using for her injuries filing as uninsured motorist causing her personal injuries and messin up her stuff. It gets pretty technical when dealing with insurance companies. I was lucky that they were cool about it and told us to go about that way of claiming. So we had two different claims. They didn't want any receipts until I gave them a list calling out how much my computer cost me to build. Then the deal was, if what they gave me wasn't enough to cover, I could show new receipts of stuff I bought to replace what got lost, and they'd reimburse me the difference.
|
The shop had signs all over saying that they weren't responsible for items left in vehicles. It def sucked, but the shop only has so much indoor storage, they had parked my truck right next to the enterance with a light shinning on it. I still give the shop my business, now if my vehicle is there over night they make sure it's one that gets put inside.
