Scale atv quad one off custom build
|
Looks nice! Are you making a body for it or buying something pre made like one of the proline ATV bodies?
|
looks amazing, any plans on making extras?????
|
so wheres the video!
|
It's got a Banshee look to it. Other than the single pipe.
Looks like a fun build. |
Hi Guy's, I didnt build it I just bought it from John Flannery owner of modifiedrc, John is a master craftsmen who spend almost 2 years on this thing and when I saw it I made him an offer and we finally settled on 3 grand. I got the thing and spent 2 days cleaning and detailing it and getting rid of some funky looking colored zip ties and all the blue hardware. I also adjustened the toe in and camber and made sure the shocks were topped of with fluid. It uses a proline razor back quad body, the green body that came with it was to ugly so I tossed it out and bought 3 more clear ones one of which is getting a red fourtrax honda paint scheme done to it. Anyway here is Johns build thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496832

I just skimmed through his build thread... It's just amazing the amount of time/effort he put into that creation. $3000 was a good deal! :oh:  Any plans for BL? Is it possible?

Still a killer build. I really like it! |
No brushless set up will work, there just isnt enough room for a battery. The atv is in mint shape and was never driven and I will never drive it, he did throw in a new proline stunt steve rider that I will paint to match the body.

Wow that thing is sweet! Reminds me of some of the old kyosho 4-wheelers. So much detail.

you know...at first...i that that was a 1:1 rc ATV...
C'mon, theres always room for brushless looks freaking sweet!...i dont understand not driving it so.....Pretty PLEASE:lol: i promise you'll like it lol |
Thanks guy's but Its just to nice and rare to toss in the dirt with all those little rocks. I may someday get a wild hair up my ass and putt it around on some grass but ya know...some things werent meant to be bashed..I have toys for that...One more thing, in order to get the guy to sell it to me I had to promise not to go run it...I dont think he wanted 2 years of his lifes work being tore up and destroyed at some gravel pit. And as far as converting it to brushless..well...I just about convert everything to brushless, I think I'll leave this alone besides this aint some POS thunder tiger engine here its an OS and they run!

I still have a brand new flm tranny forward savvy that I built about 1 yr ago. Everything is new on it... and I have never even powered it up... Maybe fire the quad up and do some runs on the street for a vid, if you can find a clean open lawn (baseball feild) it would be cool to see it run... But i would not bash it either. I would copy the design in welded tube to make a basher though... wsih you were closer as i would take some measurements... |
That's an awesome buy! I can understand not running it, something that rare and almost impossible to get replacement parts is best as a model. Very expensive for something that'll just sit on the shelf, but I can think of far worse ways to spend the money. Get it finished and get some pics up!
|
I too think it would be sweet to make it BL. If there's room for all the nitro stuff, there's room for the motor/ESC/battery. Might not be the "ideal" battery, but if you're not gonna drive it anyway (and I don't blame you one bit), that's not really an issue.
Still, really sweet nonetheless! |
Yes it is finished all it needs is a piant job done to the razor back body, the body is with a very good painter right now so I'm just waiting for it. It could be electrified but its just not needed for a shelf queen and the os max cv .18 looks pretty scale with the pipe sticking out the back. You know what would be killer though?...a custom made set of nerfs with the netting and footpegs!!!
|
Shelf-queens dont get used, they get looked at; this quad is a shelf queen.
Think of it as a static model, like those tamiya kits that are highly detailed models of real planes/tanks/cars etc- you wouldnt give them to your 5 year old to play with would you? No, you wouldnt, you'd give them that $5 diecast model to play with on the livingroom carpet. |
93firebird and coolrunnings - play nice or get off my playground. The child's play that got blown out of proportion is unwanted and unnecessary.
|
Very nice build. Are you going to convert it?
|
he said no, read a lil......lol
a lil bolt in conversion would be cool so he could run it around in the house chasing the cat or dog or kids:lol:, then put the os back in for shelf duty:yes: |
