Help me upgrade my E-Maxx tired of braking parts!

I love my E-Maxx and i love to have the slipper clutch all the way in the truck will flip over backwards and is so much more fun!

I keep braking half shafts (i've broke 2 already) and i'm sure the extra stress will brake other parts in time so i would like to upgrade all the shafts to something stronger and any other parts that you guys think will brake sooner or later. The truck is all stock there is so many parts out there i don't know what will fit and what wont. Can you guys post some links to some half shaft upgrades that will fit the stock e-maxx it is the new e-maxx not the older one.

What about the diff and trans can they handle much power? I will probably get a better motor some time so i would like to go ahead and upgrade the stock parts to handle the extra power.

First of all, welcome on the forum's!

What your looking for are cv's from tranny to diff's. Unlimited engineering has them in titanium that won't break, Mike can hook you up with these.

I don't know what stuff you want to upgrade, what budget you have, intention to go brushless in the future and if you want to keep the truck as much stock as possible. So if you can be a bit more specific I can help you further.

this page has all the hopups u would need and if dont see a hopup you want mike could probably order it for u

Chris911 12.31.2005 01:34 PM

I would probably go brushless in the future and maybe a differant Chassis and suspension if i had trouble with the stock ones braking from the extra power.

Budget wise $500 for now. For right now i really just want to run it with the slipper clutch all the way tight without braking parts. I checked out Unlimited engineering and i don't really know what parts will fit the e-maxx i have there site says SuperMaxx whatever that is.

Can you post links to the things i need?

Thanks.

Welcom to the forums chris.
Center cvds
6mm cvds need 2
These are a little stronger
You may want to get these for you transmission. Make it a lot stronger.
You may want to consider the 1/8 buggy diffs later on. Make a really tough drive train.

Chris911 12.31.2005 04:35 PM

The Center cvds........ one looks longer than the other? On my truck they look to be the same.?

6mm cvds need 2 ........in the info it says "Stock width suspension CVDS are also available "?

Do you think if i installed all these things i could trun my slipper clutch all the way in without braking parts?

Chris911 12.31.2005 04:43 PM

Is this the diff your talking about?

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...zerdiff&cat=47

or this

coolhandcountry 12.31.2005 05:16 PM

If you run the 6mm cvds and metal idler gears with the titanium center shafts. The only part i would worry about would be the diffs. If you running the titans I wouldn't worry about them but so much. The pic for the center shafts is used in all of the choices. The bottom one is the one I was talking about. You can email mike and he can hook you up with all the stuff you need. You may want to look at running the flm hybird for the 1/8 buggy diffs if you bash alot. I run the 6 spyder gears with no problems yet.

The center cvds shown were the ones for extended chassis, are you gonna run stock length chassis? If so the MIP seem to look pretty good.

mip's work well for stock length just make sure u get the emaxx ones not the tmaxx ones they are different lengths

Chris911 12.31.2005 08:52 PM

What about a diff that will work with the MIP's or will i be ok with the stock one. Later i will go brushless.

boss 302 12.31.2005 08:53 PM

the mips work with stock diffs

Chris911 12.31.2005 08:56 PM

But will the stock diffs breake with the slipper clutch tight?

boss 302 12.31.2005 08:59 PM

mine havent yet and i have the slipper tight

Sylvester 12.31.2005 09:06 PM

They shouldnt break too fast if you dont put too much power through them, how many cells are u gonna run?

coolhandcountry 12.31.2005 09:11 PM

I ran my truck with no slipper. :) I know it was wrong but it worked. I rd logics in the truck. I broke them. My brother ran mip cvds with a slipper and broke them. To me there is only one set of cvds to get. UE I run the center titanium ones over the mip center set for the pin came out on mine and my brothers. I don't have to worry about that on ue. It may cost a little more but It would have saved me in the long run. Good luck on your build up.

Sylvester 12.31.2005 09:18 PM

Yeah, good luck on your build.

Chris911 12.31.2005 09:31 PM

14 cells but like i said i plan on going brushless sometime.

got a link to UE?

Sylvester 12.31.2005 09:59 PM

www.Unlimitedengineering.com , You should be fine on 14 cells.

Chris911 12.31.2005 10:24 PM

a dumb question what is supermaxx?

squeeforever 12.31.2005 10:55 PM

that is just the line of parts they make for the maxx trucks.

jdtmaxx 06.18.2007 08:55 AM

i keep braking them all the with my tmaxx, but get some mip or tsias cvd's.

GorillaMaxx360 06.18.2007 03:18 PM

i would just upgrade to aluminum or 3.3 diff cases for the diffs, and only on stock motors i would not worry about breaking the diffs. also the bulks are ususally the first thing to break so you might want to pick up some gray 3.3 bulkheads and those are cheap.

mkrusedc 06.20.2007 02:18 AM

Just finished replacing my black bulks with gray ones. They are definately reinforced. Should be stronger.

my 2 cents: I used 3.3 shafts to the wheels w/ RPM arms and knuckles. I puchased dogbone centers from RC-monster. A brushless setup may spin the pins out of the CVDs then you have more repairs again.

nazspeed 08.26.2007 02:59 AM

3.3 drivetrain and alloy bulks and make sure u bring extra packs lot more flipping than breaking......... if your jumping you might want to uprade your shocks i love my bigbores i also went with rc raven springs to perfect combo ( heavier spring)

mkrusedc 08.26.2007 04:56 PM

I used BigBores with RCRaven dual rate springs and 40 wt oil front 50 wt rear. They were great for jumping. I just upgraded to PowerStroke shocks. IMO even better!

wallot 08.26.2007 05:26 PM

tight slipper = stress on other parts -> you will break something eventually no matter how strong your truck will be.

truck like this needs to have at least minimal slip. get better slippet like strobe that will allow you to to crazy stuf while allowing some slip

Nobody has Strobes! Do you know where we can get one?

E-Maxx King 08.27.2007 02:57 PM

RC-Monster Store

BrianG 08.27.2007 03:26 PM

RCM is out of stock as well...

mkrusedc 08.27.2007 03:27 PM

Talked to Mike. He has been waiting....

BrianG 08.27.2007 03:41 PM

In the meantime, how about trying the stock setup using ball bearings instead of those pegs? There was a recent thread about them; you have to get the right size ones obviously and tighten the plates down quite well, but should make it last longer. IIRC, the plates get grooves worn on them after a while, but this should last long enough until the Strobe is in stock again...

nazspeed 08.28.2007 03:48 AM

actually here's a simpler solution add more pegs use 12 pegs instead of 6 plus its a heck of alot cheaper and last longer! ive never had to replace my pegs yet!!!

mkrusedc 08.28.2007 08:16 AM

Thanks. I have been using 12 pegs since I melted my first spur 2 days after I first ran my E-Maxx.
