Rootar's crt.5
4 Attachment(s)
Got my crt.5 in the mail today from evan, so i figured id post some pictures of the setup, Ill be running a feagio 9l i just built from parts of other 9Ls (can and windings from one, endbells from another, rotor from a 10L, brand new bearings and new leads i made all the way from inside the can out to the 4mm plugs). so itll be the
-rcm mount -part of rcm tray -9L w/ rcm clamp -MM w/ccbec -Flightpower 3s 3200 30c lipo -spectrum rx -airtronics 94360 all aluminum servo with gear upgrade -traxxas old school dishes -Panther komodo soft truck tires -proline body it came with for now -later a Jconcepts illuzion body ill finish making my esc and rx tray/ center diff brace tomorrow. itll step donw on either side of the center diff so theyll be mounted lower... btw these .5s are smaller than i thought... |
Looks good Ross, that lipo sure does look familiar!!!
|
yea it fits in there nicely.

The crt.5 is small...of course you could always stretch it even more like I did....

That little CRT.5 makes that RX look huge in the first pic in post#5.

i actually got the crt.5 instead of another ls10 because it was smaller... ill race it with the 1/10th 4wd buggies for chits and giggles but i got it to play.... i wonder how its gonna like 35 foot doubles and 20 foot stepups???
they are a good base for project trucks also.... |
I have actually launched mine off of a 20' high pile of sand and landed square on the chassis w/ no broken parts!

yay im finished! haha i gotta glue the tires now and take it for a spin. but here is the finished product with the correct servo and all. it turned out very balanced and i got the lipo right up againist the spur, well onto the chassis. I think the wiring turned out nice too.

more pics. you can see i have alot of clearance between the body and electronics (unlike other style conversion where the esc and rx is mount on a flat plate atop the CD) which will give me a good feeling when this little dude takes a hard one to the roof that my electronics wont get hit....
|
Well done! On my 2 crt.5 there is so much room for the esc it is nice for a change. On my mbx-5 it is a tight fit.
Nice clean set up No dye on the wheels? |
Looks real nice!
|
nah no dye on the wheels for me, i love the old school dishes they are actaully "dished" in instead of the new style dish wheels that are almost flat faced... plus you can find these traxxas dishes for cheap cheap nowdays i think two packs of these cost me $4... and they are tough wheels.
its raining and wet outside (has been for the last 5 days) so i cant drive it out side but i had fun drifting around our big tile living room for about 15 minutes and still had over half a pack left. (dog was going nuts trying to attack it) so hopefully the weather will clear up like its supposed to tuesday or wednesday and ill get it out on my track and see how good it really is... whats everyone running in the diffs and shocks, i dunno whats in the truck but the shocks dont feel bad at all, maybe a tad soft but nothing like what everyone makes it out to be to need an upgrade, this may have soming to do with me running a small battery, ill weigh it tomorrow and let yall know but i can tell ya its pretty light..... |
Diffs....7 10 3
Shocks: 35 front w/ Jato 1.4 springs ..........Traxxas GTR Revo shocks 50 rear w/ Ofna orange springs and blue springs on my Daughter's w/ 40 wt. ........Ofna 1/8 buggy front shocks |
im running stock ofna shocks... i did get to run it outside today and i dunno what is has in the center diff but it aint good enough this thing doesnt take off worth a crap...center unloads before the front can even bounce up a little, i usually shoot for being able to barely lift the front wheels an inch or so before the diff unloads (this usually gives the truck a excellent jump or lurch forward and really accelerates fast without being to much power to the rear.)
so i guess its time to tear the front and center diff out, other than those two nothing popped out as something odvious that needed changing. right away. |
Looks clean.
Glad to see the little guy found a good home! I'm just going to stick with 8th scale.
|
hey fill me in evan, whats in the shocks? diffs? id like to know so i have something to base my changes off of.
|
haha found the problem why it was seemingly so slow the first couple runs.....the center diff was dry it had a tiny bit of grease but definetly no oil....so i filled it with 7k and WOW its a little beast now, but i already broke something....
well i guess it doesnt count againist the truck's durability in my opinion but i hit a tree dead on about 6 feet up doing about 30 off a jump.....the front bumper braces broke, it took a few serious tumbles, besides the tree, hit a cinder block and sent the truck into a 540 spin on the ground, hit a pallet in the air, best one was when i hit the same tre agian off my big jump but instead of going straight into it i was mid blackflip and chassis slapped the tree,it did a flip off and actaully drove away........ tough little truck, im impressed so far, now i need to clean up around my little track (quit hitting crap) and i needed to gear it back down to a 14 or 15 tooth instead of the 17 be 40+ on a 40 foot long track is STUPID FAST. |
This thread makes me wanna get back on my CRT.5 project. Looks like a great build.
