**My FLM CCNeu Maxx Nearly Completed**

Here she is in her current state:
http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0726.jpg

Here is the middle part of the trucks life CLICK HERE
Right now the only thing really stoping me is the drive shafts. I've had MIP CVDs, I've had the Revo Spec plastic, I'm just ready for some good 'ole stand by dog bones!! Where can the right size be had? I need a front center lengh for a FLM 3906 chassis (stock 3906 length) and four outside for a regular WideMaxx NOT 3.3. I would be fine buying a premade set or would I need to go through a company like RCAlloys or do you think Mike would make me some? IDK? FLM maybe? Any suggestions? Oh and I'm working with MIP dog bone cups. I come to RCM because well lets face it the wealth of knowledge here far surpasses that at TRX. I'm finding myself there much less often.

Thanx,
Zack

mkrusedc 04.02.2009 09:15 PM

Zack,
Glad you are here. There is plenty of help/knowledge here about brushless conversions. I would email Mike and ask him first. If he can do it he will.

You know can you measure the size you need? I might have an extra one lying around.

Mark

Thanx Paralyzed! But me and Mark worked something out.

BTW hows that brushless wheelchair going?

BL_RV0 04.04.2009 05:31 PM

Hey Kcaz, nice truck. That must have been one hell of a crash to tear your entire rear end off though!

:mdr: I'm waiting on a spool (only for the rear) and a few other items to arrive. I should be ready to rock next weekend!

I'm thinking about putting one of these on my truck with heavy grease inside... any thoughts?

Do I need the 5mm or 6mm stand offs? :smile:http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/81035.html

Thanx,
Zack

George16 04.06.2009 08:01 AM

For traxxas big bore shocks, you'll need 5mm standoffs. For Ofna/UE shocks, 6mm is required.

Kcaz25 04.06.2009 10:20 AM

Thanks man, quick answer!

Kcaz25 04.07.2009 04:20 PM

Does anyone know what comes with the UE KnuckleHead hardware package? CLICK HERE I need 4 of those long screws that go all the way through the towers and possibly some 5mm offsets. I can get the off sets seperatly but I think I'm gonna need those screws.

Thanx,
Zack

suicideneil 04.07.2009 08:09 PM

I think the hardware package includes everything you need to mount the shocks, so the extra long screws should be included- email UE directly though, Dan does reply quickly if you have a question.

I've found some screw that are just right. So I just ordered 8 5mm stand offs.

WAHOO :yipi: now my truck has two UE parts! (idler & stands offs)

Edit: When should I expect my order? I used the only avaible shipping option: $10 "Flat Rate".

George16 04.08.2009 03:16 AM

3-4 days. You can email Sam and ask him.

Anyway, the UE shock tower package comes with 2 different length screws. The long screws are used for a 8-shock setup, 4 shorter screws for 4-shock setup, 8 5mm shock standoffs, and post holders.

Kcaz25 04.12.2009 09:34 AM

Can I use the Spektrum DX3.0(comes with 3R3000) with my MMM without the fear of this:

"Depending on the manufacturer of the ESC, there can be issues with the BEC (battery elimination circuitry) not having a high enough voltage output. The issues tend to be isolated with Tekin and LRP ESC’s when used with SR3000 or SR3001 receivers. There are several steps that can be taken to prevent issues from cropping up. First is to make sure you install a power capacitor on the speed control itself, as this seems to prevent high-current drains from causing issues on the ESC’s end. Additionally, installing the SPM1600 Voltage Protector into an open channel on your receiver can further prevent low-voltage issues."

I've heard that it melts stuff! I also though I read that this even happened to Joe Ford!
Any thoughts?

Thanx,
Zack

mkrusedc 04.12.2009 03:31 PM

If you have not purchasexd the Spektrum yet. Get the Futaba. It has worked seemlessly for me with my MMM combo.

Kcaz25 04.12.2009 04:07 PM

I would love to have a 3PM, but I just found out that I might could get a sweet deal on a Airtronics MX-3 2-FHSS. Has anybody used this with a MMM or simply used it at all? (the Spektrum is out the window)

My Traxxas radio works okay(with a ferrite ring and careful planning and braided wires), but I just feel foolish  when I hit the track or when I'm bashing with other R/C car owners when they all have aftermarket radio's. LOL

Thanx,
Zack

mkrusedc 04.12.2009 04:55 PM

Somebody on the Traxxas forum uses an Airtronics and has said no problems.

Kcaz25 04.17.2009 10:53 AM

:slap::grrrrrr::cry: Read from the bottom up. What this boils down to is that if my order doesn't come in Monday, they've lost my order and I will have to go through a long(er) proccess of trying to get my money back/ trying to get my truck going. Who's happy?:intello: (BTW) This sounds, judging by the format of the letter, that this is an automatic response, like these happens ALL the time and they got tired of writing up a detailed response everytime so now all they have to do is click a button.

Hi, I'm Zack Smith this is my Customer Number: ******* You can see that I ordered several parts 4-Apr-2009 they went out on 8-Apr-2009 I was told automatically from Tower that the estimated delivery time was the 9th-13th. I can hardly believe it but the stuff finally showed up not 10mins after I got done complaning! Still, it took forever to get here. I'll have huge updates before 2nite...:yipi::party::lol:

mkrusedc 04.17.2009 11:52 AM

Glad things are working out Zack.

Kcaz25 04.18.2009 01:30 AM

Here are some pictures taken of where the build stands now, but not before a heavy bash session, leaving the truck dirty . I'm thrilled with the way it is turning out, its really durable and is a blast to drive. I'm still waiting on a rear spool and an Airtronics MX-3FG FHSS-2 and later some UE Setbacks and the kit that goes with that.(Hopefully UE will hear our pleas to reproduce the whole kit). And I just know that as soon as Mike gets back he will have that FLM style center diff and motor mount ready to go... LOL!!!

These shiney goodies are from Mark(mkrusedc) He also sent me a dog bone. Along just having a big impact on this build in general over at TRX(linked in the first post) I cannot thank you enough Mark for what all you have done. My thanx and love also goes out to Emaxxter better known on TRX he has been crucial to this build as he and his website have allowed me to get great deals on some of the options that you see on this truck.

Looking good so far.

Kcaz25 04.18.2009 03:03 PM

Thanx Neil! Does anyone know where I can get some beefy 3.3 rod-ends for my turnbuckles ? I just broke one.

Kcaz25 04.19.2009 07:01 PM

I broke ANOTHER rod end on a jump!! Some would tell me to learn how to control my flight better and that may be true... lol but I would really love to hear some imput on what may be a better solution to regular Traxxas rod ends.

Kcaz25 04.19.2009 09:57 PM

These metal rod ends look pretty tasty any idea if they would fit?CLICK HERE

Thanx,
Zack

Here ya go

Thanks BL_RVO

ANGRY-ALIEN 05.03.2009 02:31 PM

Nice...:yipi: How did you like the fit? Is that a hex screw sticking out of the drive cup... Do you have too much play/movement with the shaft?

Alien

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0752.jpg

Yeah on both ends. There are other options for solving this problem, but I think this will work nicely.

ANGRY-ALIEN 05.03.2009 03:51 PM

Interesting... looks like a nice and simple fix. Thanks for the info man.

squeeforever 05.03.2009 06:55 PM

Umm...I wouldn't do that. Just use some o-rings in the drive cup...

those screws might cause a ton of friction which will heat up your drivetrain some, o-rings would be the best solution.

I was thinking about the excess vibration it may cause too... would simple rubber/foam inserts work by having them push out on to the shaft?

Rubber and or foam would work, i personally used gas tubing in between the output shaft and driveshaft and never had a problem.
