Chris i think you have the wrong pinions. The berg axels use metric gears. Also you have a 12t & 13t pinon . Why the different gears ?.

Arct1k 04.07.2009 05:38 PM

Balls they call it metric 48p but it is 0.6

I believe that this what I need Metric .6 Module Steel Alloy Pinions
1112 Metric Steel Alloy 48 Pitch Pinion 12 Teeth $3.50
1113 Metric Steel Alloy 48 Pitch Pinion 13 Teeth $3.50

The aim of the different pinions is to overdrive the front slightly which helps stop the rear pulling the front over...

Arct1k 04.07.2009 05:40 PM

Need some help with wheels - I'm torn:

- Proline Epic Rears $40
- Proline 8shooter $40
- Eritex $75
- Mayham comps $110

I'm kind of loathed at the moment to pitch up the extra $70 but don't want to waste $40 on wrong wheels either! LOL

HELP

I guess you got the right ones according to the robinson site . The part #'s you listed are the metric ones .

http://www.robinsonracing.com/catalo...on.html#metric

I went for the MAYHEM wheels because they offer a berg offset . so the truck is not to wide .

Arct1k 04.07.2009 09:28 PM

Update picked up the Tekin 35T's and DNA Stalkers berg offset

Those are good choices. Are the tekin's hand or machine wound ?. I went with the cheap integy 45t motors for now .

Arct1k 04.07.2009 09:37 PM

Looks like machine wound but the only 35t's in stock on the planet - an expensive day...

I see several guys running Epic's but the wheels can strip fairly easy if you are not careful. Or possibly plan to test alot of foams and/or tires.

The offset is a fairly attractive selling point for the 8-Shooters. They are pretty good wheels. They were the first set I bought.

I like my Eritex Comp Heavy's very much. I run Rover's white on them.

I had a set of Mayhem wheels that were very nice but not the offset I was looking for. I will own another set of Mayhem wheels sooner or later.

The 1" DNA wheels are nice wheels too. I run a set of Assassin's. I'm in the process of mounting up some Chizzy's to them as we speak.

Day late and a dollar short, huh?

You'll like the DNA wheels. The Berg offset is nice & narrow.

Arct1k 04.08.2009 08:33 PM

Thanks for input I was running around like crazy trying to get everything - motors was more difficult than i thought... That ended up driving the wheels decision.

Looks like FEDEX should driver most of it tomorrow / friday and I'll start a build thread.. :)

No word on the kamakasi / JPC bits

Arct1k 04.12.2009 06:14 PM

So far...

1. Axles clocked, greased and rebuilt...
2. Shocks rebuilt with end cap mod
3. Upper links mounted
4. Torsion and lower links are placeholders

Still waiting on
1) Myatomic order
2) KK links etc
3) JPC lockouts

That is going to be one sweet crawler when you are done Chris

rchippie 04.13.2009 12:53 AM

Chris your crawler is looking good . Im going to space my upper link like yours as well . Joe bruiser on RCC told me to space them about 5/8 for the FR & 1/4 for the RR . He runs the same chassis as i do A KK 4.0 .

Arct1k 04.16.2009 10:25 PM

Apologies for the crappy shots will get more when sunny!

Only missing the JPC rear locks but think I can comp with this...

I also picked up a KK ST chassis on sale so I can try torsion in rear to...

It certainly looks comp-worthy to me. That chassis is real nice.

And I'm still waiting on my lockouts too. I think they may ship the first of next week.

Definately let us know how you like the torsion set up too. I've always been curious how it performs.

Here's why I mention it.

Although I have also seen the uppers spaced fairly wide in both directions on some pretty capable Berg crawlers.

Which blows the theory that getting as much triangulation as possible from the uppers & lowers in most instances isnt always the way to go.

Im only going by what joe bruiser said to do .

I understand. His trucks really do almost crawl upsidedown.

I'm just splainin' myself. I'm a whole numbers, straight line, same length, & square type guy. Anything that is out of whack/ off kilter really get's my head spinnning.

It's a disease.

Arct1k 04.19.2009 08:41 PM

Bitch set of three courses today but nothing broke and I got equal 4th lowest score...

Can't complain...

Bust an axle on the super and have a lot more work to do on it...

I'll measure but i think that am centered perfectly... off center would bug me to...

rchippie 04.19.2009 09:44 PM

Chris i notice your using the FR hole on your FR knuckles . Did you trim you KK H/C link so you do not have any toe out ?. I tried mounting mine in the FR hole & ended up with toe out .

Arct1k 04.19.2009 10:11 PM

Yes I had to trim the end and drill further in

How much did you trim off, & was it from one end or both ends ?.

I tried mounting my link to the knuckle like you did. But it rubs on the screws for the wheel .

Arct1k 04.21.2009 11:27 PM

I had the same issue - AX10 knuckles cured it...

Did you cut your ax10 knuckles or leave them stock ?.

jnev 04.22.2009 12:32 AM

Crawler looks really good! How do you like it compared to your 2.2 crawler? Do you have a 1.9 as well to compare it to? I will begin building a crawler within the next couple weeks once a few items sell and I am trying to decide on a size to start with... probably 1.9 or 2.2. I don't want to take up your thread, I'll start a new one.

I've a 2.2 and super - Personally 2.2 is more fun... I'm not into scalers so doubt I'll get a 1.9 or a mini. Hippie and I both build SPV2 Ax10's before building the Bergs... i.e. Just build a berg straight off ;)
