Am I about to become a member of Serum's expensive club???

mmdooley 01.12.2006 06:48 PM

Looks like all you need is a cooling fan or you might be a member soon.

poconoblmaxx 01.12.2006 09:43 PM

Its dead Jim. Mine looked like that just before it went poof.

squeeforever 01.12.2006 09:53 PM

looks like you fried some of the fets.... what motor are you running with that?

cabking 01.13.2006 01:09 PM

A 7XL squee, Its never felt too hot after a run, and it always has a 40mm fan on top and on 18 cells it sure does shift the air.

any ideas as to whats caused it , as it still works at the moment maybe its not too late.

Nick 01.13.2006 01:13 PM

It's a Schulze, thats the problem, lol.

Probably a loose connection according to Schulze.(seems to happen spontaneously)

You gonna get it repaired?

Sneeck 01.13.2006 02:54 PM

Loose connection's rofl that's a good one.

You useing the internal bec?

Gustav 01.13.2006 02:58 PM

They don't have one,it can't be that, they just have this smoking habit.

cabking 01.13.2006 03:02 PM

yup I've got one, you can see it in the second pic.
I use 4mm tubes and replace the cages every other month !!

Not sure about how to get it repaired, its probly a better idea than putting it back in the emaxx though

Sneeck 01.13.2006 03:02 PM

Should have gotten a real bl esc then....

j/k, that wasn't very nice when you break a expensive esc.

Gustav 01.13.2006 03:09 PM

You might be one of the rare lucky ones that get it fixed under warranty but they seem to cover themselves pretty well against that and normally charge for repair.

I'd e-mail them, but might be time to cut your losses.

Take one of those little fire extinguishers with you if you decide to run it to death.

I was waiting for that one :L:

In fact I'm still waiting for the 'Grim Reaper' himself to post here asking for the photos  :L:

Promod 01.13.2006 09:04 PM

A 7XL is way to HOT for 18 cells. Try a 9 or 10XL. With the right gearing the slower turn motors will be just as fast(if not faster),have longer run time, and not beat your speed control to death.
Schulze speed controls are good but there customer service is horrible!! If they fix it under warranty it will be a shock to me!

Thank you,
Promod

Yeah, I would fall of my chair of pure unbelieve..

I am having doubts if i should add this one to my wall of shame...

Time will tell.... Becoming a member takes some serious money, unfortunetely...

The 7XL is quite a hot motor indeed.. Rhylsader burned his 18.97 on 16 cells with this motor.. though a few members on this board use the 7XL on a 9918/9920 who are doing okay..

well, here is the wall of shame for those that can't wait.. (hint with the scrollbar you can scroll to the right to see more horror.... i doubt if the scrollbar stays this short)

You got something for this wall of shame too Promod?

Well theres hope then :D

I do have a new 9920 that I was going to use on the Revo, with a 9XL.
maybe the better option is to put the Shultze in the Revo & the BK in the Maxx??

As it still works ok at the moment, would there be any point in putting another heat sink on the other side??

Serum 01.15.2006 05:54 AM

I would use the schulze in the lightest application..

RC-Monster Mike 01.15.2006 11:33 AM

It looks like something burned slightly on that controller. If there is any chance of a warranty repair, it will be before the whole thing is unrecognizable for sure. If it is burned beyond recognition, it will for sure be blamed on "loose contacts" or something similar.

maxxdude1234 01.15.2006 01:08 PM

Maybe I'm being silly. But I doubt the plastic case you've got it in allows much cooling. Perhaps taking it out the case might help controller temps. Other than that just get a 9920 would be my reccomendation.

Not as silly as I would have been........if I had:p
the UBEC and RX live in the box. Were you living Maxxdude??

Having read the MANY post on shultze customer service, being similar to that of a second hand car salesman, I can't see me geting round to sending to them.

I think I'll just go easy on it and watch it carefully.
It has done about 18 months in my Maxx now so its not that bad.

maxxdude1234 01.16.2006 01:17 PM

I live down in Kent, what about you?

Serum 01.16.2006 01:32 PM

Just directly contac Matthias of schulze. He replies the email very fast, even on sunday, i got to give him that.

He is willing to help (on a distance) he will probably suggest to sent him the entire setup, so he can find a reason other than his speedo for this partial meltdown..

It wouldn't hurt sending it back though. just solder a few fresh beefy plugs on, just in case..

squeeforever 01.16.2006 01:54 PM

:L: :L: :L: good one serum. whats the likelyhood that he will warrant it?

Serum 01.16.2006 02:15 PM

based on my wall of shame and the ones that died on Mike, i'd say 20 to 1
