tmaxx VS emaxx
Hi All,
Just ordered or should I say preordered a Brushless setup for my E-maxx truck. I am sure the minute I drop it in all types of things are going to break. I'll upgrade the parts as they break. But the first thought I had is to start building something that will be controllable with the power. 1st step pick a chassis. I have found a chassis that I am thinking about but it is listed as a tmaxx chassis. What is the difference and how much effort/grief will it cause me if the bare chassis is a tmaxx and not a emaxx? Highflier |
Not a whole lot. You need to make battery hold down's(AE cup's) to hold down as much cell's as you want to run.
the t-maxx chassis is layed out differently, i don't know how differently but i do know it doesn't have a shifting servo slot, if you still use both speeds.
Where can I get AE cups? is it the two black things which you mount on the battery tray?
Keep in mind the transmission is different between the two chassis.
I am going to be using just 1 speed in the tranny so the servo is not a issue. (9xl and BK120 on 6s Mike has it on order for me.)
Since I will be using Lipo's the battery tray was going to have to be custom work anyways. So that is no big deal. I guess that leaves 1 real concern. The mounting of the Transmission/motor ect. Any idea on how big a deal that could be? Highflier |
Do you have a pic of this new chassis? Some are easier than others. Pic would be great help.
i've seen it done, you might want to ask at the traxxas e-maxx forms
If you will be using an emaxx tranny you can use the stock e-maxx motor mount plate.
Pretty darn expensive for a bare alum chassis. I'd even go for a flm emaxx chassis than that thing.
I wanted a 2-3" extended chassis. does FLM have one?
Highflier |
no, i there theres is 1 inch but you can also run a ue extension like papa did. also, the e tranny would drop right in as they use the same bolt pattern because they use the same chassis braces.
The e-maxx tranny has the same mount holes as the t-maxx tranny, so it will bolt anywhere the t-maxx tranny would.
Well, I don't here anybody saying it will be to big of an issue and I do think that the 3" will help control some of the power. I tihink I will get one and start with some basic stuff, TPM arms and stuff.

Highflier;
for stability, you need a low CG, the G-maxx offers this. How many cells would you like to run? |
You can run a gmaxx with the extension and get a ue extension this put you at 60 mm longer than the gmaxx. Which is 1/4 in longer than stock. You would need about a 130 mm dog bone for rear. If this may be what you want.
Or BPP's racebomb. 2 inch over stock.
For the lengths you guys are extending, why not just make a limo? :p
LOL. A stretch maxx limo!
I have an extended g-maxx with the setback arms and it is a little too long for my liking, actually. The steering was affected just a touch too much with the extra length of the setback arms(lost steering in this particular application, due to the length). |
Yeah, a g-maxx extension is enough, if the g-maxx and UE were able to go on the flm extended chassis you guys would officially be in the Stretch maxx limo division.
I like to see one though. It would look cool. A stretched limo maxx. Have to put the body together out of three of them. ;) 30 in maxx. I have noticed on mine to mike I lost some steering on it. But I want to go fast not hug corners. I can make a shorty for the corner hugging.

Hi All,
I know lower CG is better but let's not forget about ground clearence, It is going to be a basher and some of it's use will be requiring challenging terrain. BPP chassis, Where do I get info on that one? Got a link? I plan to run 5200 MAH by 6s (22.2 VOlts) My cells are a poor shape. Very wide and tall. No length. A Custom battery tray will be a must. LIMO... HMM could be a unique Idea. I find this whole building a truck confusing. It's hard to figure out what is needed, Best, and affordable. Turning radius is not my biggest concern as long as I get decent front tire control, I am sure that the 2-3 inches will not affect me to the point of my requirements. (I could see in a track/race condition this being a big issue but not bashing.) Highflier Highflier |
