Indycar style RC
Anyone know of any indycar style electric RC's? F1 would be fine, too. I love openwheel racing, and would like to find an electric RC to play around with in that style.
I found this one http://www.tamiya.com/english/produc...iams/index.htm at Tamiya, but the info on it is pretty limited... any others out there? Or anyone have any experience with this one? (So far I only have experience with Traxxas, Losi, HPI, and Axial....) Thanks for any tips! - Tony |
I think Duratrax used to have one.

That HPI looks awesome!

HPI Europe put out more info on the Formula Ten. Sounds like it'll be available over there this summer. Hopefully they don't neglect us here in the states! Lots of detail w/ pics, too.
http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.php?partNo=102870 This will almost definitely be my next RC. (Unless another impulse buy comes along... like those new Traxxas minis, or an HPI sprint 2 flux) - Tony |
Hopefully the HPI version will be a little better when it gets here. I suppose it's ok, but much less polished than the Serpent version. Probably a lot cheaper though, and easier to build since it is made for electric from the start.

Oh, there's no doubt that Serpent is extremely sweet. Doing a conversion on one of those would be great.
Unfortunately the old pocket book isn't up for it! The HPI is only 17" long (not sure what scale that is), while the Serpent's a 1/10th. I like the looks of the HPI because it appears that a crash isn't going to disintegrate it like the real ones do. Parts availability should also be a lot better for me. (I do all the buying I can through my LHS, they've been great to me, and I want to support the local business whenever I can). Their mention of other front wings / bodies & that they showed it at the IRL race in Longbeach makes me think they'll probably have Indycar styling available at some point. (Yes, I know, the IRL cars have been called "hideous crapwagons" by quite a few people, but it's the series I watch most, regardless. And the F1 styling HPI did choose is really one of the better looking openwheel designs they could have chosen). I suppose if HPI puts too high of a price on this one, that will bring something like the Serpent back into play. - Tony |
What is the price of that Serpent anyway?

i had the the tamiya F103, there's alot you can do with them as far as hopups and they are monsters with a brushless system in them
|
WOW I HAVE to get one!!! It's just sick looking and I'm sure (it had better be for a kit) it will be a reasonable price. I just changed my mind about never getting another "street" car. :intello:

These where slick and made by tamiya about 7 years ago. 4WD, true formula one cantilever suspension, very nice. Can be found like this used but you will pay for it.

Dragging this thread back up because this just made my jaw drop:
http://www.fg-modellsport-gmbh.de/FG...ormula1_e.html WOW. In related news, I'm hearing 6/30 on the HPI, price around $130. |

Got pricing on the FG - $1700 for the RTR, $1492 for the roller + motor. Way outta my price range!
|
Here in Europe you get those Tamiya F103 and F201 VERY cheap. 30 euro for a roller sometimes. And those FG's, 1:5 are DAMN expensive, even if bought used. Before I started at my LST I thought about the FG but they're so damn expensive used...
But $130 would be a good price for the HPI IMO |
