How about a RC-Monster Lipo for the Mini E-revo?

Mike, Can you get your lipo in a smaller size than 2600mah? I'm thinking if they could keep the performance and make it smaller, you could corner the market on quality batteries for the mini crowd.

shaunjohnson 05.12.2009 04:57 PM

exactly, you'll need to get in there quick before max-crap gets there:no:
maxamps have a good feature though...waterproof (aka, plasti-dipped) lipo's.

cant be too adventagous to dip the end of the packs in plasti-dip before skrinking them?

So nobody but two of us would be interested in a small monster pack for mini's?

billdapart 06.16.2009 09:16 PM

yep

i'd definitely be interested as well. Mine is set to be here on friday and so far all I have that will fit is a couple 1450mah packs.. looking for something good for it.
Gonna have to sell my big neu powered e-revo soon or the wife is gonna flip out when she sees this.

sikeston34m 06.16.2009 09:22 PM

How big are the battery compartments on the new Mini E Revo?

Anyone know?

magman 06.16.2009 09:27 PM

Sike..I found this...hope it helps!

I have been to doing a lot of research on batteries for these new trucks.
The battery box is
101.9 x 35.5 x 20.3 MM (I got this from Traxxas)

Maxamps has batteries that will work, but I can't bring myself to spend 4 times the price, when I can get it for less.
Maxamps wants $74.99 for a 3s 1550 (25c) Mah battery.
Hobby City sells a similar battery (20c) for $15.95!
I can get 4 batteries for the price of one Maxamps. Even if 2 batteries go bad I still way ahead!.
All e rc has some 2s 2200 Mah that will fit.
Has anyone else found any Lipo batteries that will fit?
Its really hard to trust most websites information on battery size is correct.
Most batteries I have found are 20mm and the battery box is 20.3 mm, so it should fit if the dimensions are correct.
Any input would be great.

I just measured mine with my calipers and got 102.6mm x 34.3mm x 20.6mm. It is not an exact science to measure the opening though as the plastic flexes a bit if you apply much pressure. Also, the bumpout on the battery door isn't the easiest to figure out where to measure the depth on it.

I found the info on the Tra***s site. I am not surprised that the actual specs. are a bit different.

MaxAmps prices have went through the roof!!! I have a 2s 1550mah for my RC18T also run in a Losi mini late-model, but when I bought it about a year ago it cost me about $32. I will say that this MA pack hasn't given me any problems. I won't buy another one with there new prices though!:diablo:

Arct1k 06.16.2009 10:39 PM

i think enerland.com has some packs that fit

skellyo 06.16.2009 10:43 PM

As long as the specs are correct, this Hyperion pack should fit nicely:
http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=4649

Specs say it's 84.7mm x 27.8mm x 17.9mm
It's 1800mAh, 35C and for $30.95 looks like a pretty good deal (when they're in stock, that is).

I'm commited because I'm getting mine through my work, getting it at their cost. I'm happy that I'm saving a good chunk of money but Horizon dissapoints me a little,I figured since the HS does so much business with them that getting one pretty quick would be a cake walk.:no:

That's part of the problem of being through a distributor. CPH gets their stuff in pretty quick from Traxxas since they're direct. I got it from them quicker than Tower even though Tower had them in stock and processed my order last Thurs. It took Tower until Monday to ship it out, then it's 3 more days for UPS ground to get here.

Bondonutz 06.17.2009 12:37 PM

Still way better than my situation; I placed my order with HH on 5/9 and was told via "QuickServe" that they'd be in 6/15. I checked again yesterday and it's pushed back to 7/6. Needless to say I'm not thrilled.

Yuck.

I just talked to CPH and they've got another case of VXL E-Revos on the way from Traxxas now.

Another option for batteries:
http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store...0C_Lipoly_Pack

doo540 06.17.2009 03:28 PM

I'm in favor of Mike getting some smaller lipos to fit the mini e-revo. Maxamps are super expensive and I cant seem to find a lipo from Hobby King in the 3s size with a decent milamp that will fit in the revo. I cant go back to nimh batteries, so Mike please offer us something in the 3s and 2s sizes.

skellyo 06.17.2009 06:49 PM

Here's some 2S Lipos that Mike should be able to get that will definitely fit...

Another option:
http://www.b-p-p.com/product.php?pro...6&cat=7&page=1
And there is a code on the home page for 30% off all Hyperion packs.

Are you going to tell us who makes that pack skellyo?  Looks like a Hyperion pack (based on shrink wrap color)... but not sure.

I also vote for Mike selling some packs for the 1/16 trucks...

crazyjr 06.18.2009 08:19 AM

All are great products and i have never had trouble with maxamps myself, but i can't talk myself into cheap lipo's, no matter how they seem to run. My 8000mah maxamps eventually puffed and are useless, but the 5000's are still good. After MA started to jack the prices up i went to flightpower and hyperion, I have not been disappointed at all. The reason i looked at Mikes packs at all, was 1. its Mike after all, he knows what we do here and would not put his name on junk packs. and 2. his have pulled over 170 amps and held 3.0v per cell at 2600mah (i think it was 1P config.) that's all i need to know, to trust that his will be the packs to have. That's why i asked for a smaller mini sized for the 1/16 to 1/18 crowd

Those packs you linked are a bit too long. I have the same 1500mAh pack by PolyRC and it won't fit.

The pack I have in my pics is a Hyperion G3 VX 35C 2S 1800mAh. It fits just about perfect IMO. I may try out their G3 CX 3S 1600mAh pack to see if it'll fit, but it's gonna be real close on the height.

jnev 06.18.2009 01:36 PM

Thanks for the info that the pack won't fit. Looks like B-P-P just didn't measure close enough... I am hoping two 2s packs in parallel will be enough power so I don't have to go with two 3s packs in parallel....

From what I've read, 3S in one these isn't good for anything other than straight line runs on relatively smooth ground. All that extra power doesn't get you anywhere when your wheels are in the air or you're on your lid.

jnev 06.18.2009 01:43 PM

2s it is then. Thanks! Let us know how your trucks perform for you!

That all depends on the motor, the traxxas is 4000kv. I hope to get one late this or next year, I plan to setup a 5s setup in it. The setup will be a 1500 to 1700kv medusa motor with a quark 33, I might go 1100kv and gear up a bit

E-Revonut 06.19.2009 02:55 AM

I drove one today and it was just 2x 6s traxxas nimh packs in series and that was insane! I def think 3s will be pretty damn crazy too. If SC cells could fit 2 4s packs in series would prolly be perfect. I may wind up with one of these things but I doubt I'll get to crazy with it. There talking about racing them at the lhs, if they do I'll def get one as it would be cheaper than setting up a 1/12 pan car.
