Neu upgrades their motors yet agian!

i dunno if this is new but its new news to me. We just recived a motor back from service which has obviuos been completely replaced, and has quite a few notable changes.

-has a 16x5x4 front bearing, with the 13x5x4 rear bearing.
-has a removeable front endbell thats keyed in place with setscrew through both pieces
-has hex hardware holding the rear endbell on :yipi: no more phillips!
-has grommets on wires, which are also double insulated
-has both m3 and m4 holes on a standard 25mm pattern.
-case is machined to where the fins start further back on the motor (to allow for machanical brakes better i assume.....?

but the stupid thing doesnt have a flat spot on the shaft so i gotta tear it down and fix that, but i looks pretty good. only other squak i have about it is that the way the front endbell is layed out you cant use mikes front cover/plate......

yea the 16mm bearing in the front just looks STUPID big... maybe itll holdup better than these junk 13mm bearings theyve had in them... i should have another back very soon and im hoping it matched this type.

im uploading pics from my camera right now.

here are the pics.

1st pic shows the new removable front bell, spacing, m3 and m4 holes, and the massive bearing.

2nd shows the fin spacing and the set screw keying the front endbell

3rd shows the hex hardware, grommets, insulation, 13mm bearing, and according to my caliper a thick rear case aroung the endbell...

you guys are relentless couldnt even give me 25 mintues to find my camera and plug it in, snap some pics, up load them, resize them, and post them..... its gotten rough in here LOL

i always seem to get my hands on new stuff for some reason...

rootar 05.22.2009 12:37 AM

btw if this thing had solder tabs instead of wire i think i would have messed my pants :surprised:

q8-maxx 05.22.2009 12:38 AM

looks very good but why they dont cover all the holes with grommets :(

thanks for the pictures

lincpimp 05.22.2009 12:39 AM

More hand porn...

I will have to get a closer look at the 1521 1y I just got. It definitely has the 3 piece can, but looked to have just a m4 thread 25mm pattern on it...

I will take some pics of it tomorrow and throw them up here.

js058515 05.22.2009 12:43 AM

Thanks Rootar! I still like the Tekin or the Castle Nue but Tekin the most. Yayyyy Tekin.

nitrostarter 05.22.2009 01:00 AM

I like the 4mm bolt holes and bigger bearings, but dont like the 3 piece can design(cheaper)...

zeropointbug 05.22.2009 02:03 AM

That looks tough

Looks great to me, and I would agree that they need solder posts on them, I'm sure they are working on it.... and if they aren't they can go to #3LL

big greg 05.22.2009 02:18 AM

somtimes you get grommets and two different hole types with no flat spot, others you get a flat with no grommets, lol its like they mix it up to always keep you scratchin your head

B4maz 05.22.2009 10:07 AM

Neu is really stepping it up. I was hoping that they would use larger bearings. I have a 2215/3Y and a 1515/3d and it always seemed like they needed larger bearings.

T-Bro 05.22.2009 02:44 PM

Now I see why I bought a brand new NEU motor for about $60.00 off... They where getting rid of the older models to sell the newer versions. I had a feeling that's what it was. I really didn't mind. Hey it's still a NEU motor! I can't wait to test it out!!

e-mike 05.22.2009 03:13 PM

put some screw to hold the front case...ishhh not a good idea(except for the m4 hole)....i see a lot of motor that the front cap come loose and you know the rest of the story:whistle:i prefer the old design of the front bell but for the other mod ...wow bigger bearing,insulation...very good mod

florianz 05.22.2009 05:13 PM

reminds me of my losi xcelorin, 16mm front bearing and m3/m4 screw holes. sounds fantastic, but honestly, it just makes sense to build it solid. the losi has a 16x8x5mm bearing, which is a very common size, replacement is easy.

That explains alot to me as well  Just ordered a 1515/1y for the RC8 from Amain.... Was marked down to 159.99 and with my coupon code for $25 I got a brand new Neu 1515/1y motor for less then 150 shipped :yipi:

tommorows going to be a good day!

Heath

lincpimp 05.22.2009 08:09 PM

I just compared the 2 1521 1y motors I have. The newer model has a much larger front bearing, and has the 3 piece can. It is slightly longer like 1/8" or so. No real weight difference that I can feel.

himalaya 05.25.2009 03:31 AM

Bi-directional learning.

CC got Neu's design and improved it with 16mm bearing/3 piece can/ flex lead/ sealed/ Kevlar wrap rotor..... now Neu is taking some of these improvements back to their "original" products.

Any changes on the rotor? have a look inside, gentlemen !

SYLVERIS 05.25.2009 04:14 PM

Hum !!!! Just look at this post, it's my comment :

Here you will find too, some pictures of my new disassembly Neu :

rootar 05.25.2009 10:46 PM

yes but now replacing the front bearing does not involve removing both sides shims and the rotor..... just a set screw and unscrew the front bell replace bearing and screw back on, make for much less room for error when replacing the bearing....
