Eff Three Fiddy
Just got my order in from RPP Hobby. Going to try out the scale thing.
My plans are Slash electronics for now until I get something better. I wanna go fast. R2D Tranny turned around backwards. RC4WD Scale lights Eventually build a tube/flat bed deal. Today I got the SCX Kit F-350 body, bumpers, lights, tailgate, mirrors, the whole shebang. Traxxas Summit front bumper Got some rock rings from 62PYRO Here are some build pics so far. Got some more done tonight. Got the mirrors all glued up. Getting closer and closer.

Where Im going with flat black and going to use textured black on the lower portion of the body and in the bed for a scale spray on bedliner look like I painted the wheel. |

Tried putting the slash motor on the r2d and the hole in the r2d wasnt big enough. Figure it was time to break out the dremel and go to town. Took it all apart dremeled it out went outside and washed all the shaving out with some soapy water and blew it off with the air hose. Put it all back together and see if it wokred by just hooking a battery straight to the motor and one of the pins for the gears came clean out the side. Got to looking on one of the little brass bushing that holds the pin in fell out. OHHH MAN. That sucks. Hey nice job! I love the lights. Only problem I see is the lack of ground clearance. It seems to get stuck a lot in the vid.

Here is the lights and receiver. There going to stay attached to the bodt and i just pull the 3 servo wires loose and it all comes off with the body. I took the light box apart and smeared it all with some dielectric grease and stuck it in a ballon. Also did the same for the Spektrum receiver. Just need to put some silicone aroudn the lip of the ballons and it will be ready for some submarine action. Wrapped all the light wires in electrical tape to clean it up a little bit and make it look a little better.

I probably got between $350 and 400 in it. Not nearly as much as some people spend on these things.

Got a couple 3 cell lipos coming now. Now the fun begins. Im thinking about getting the Sidewinder 4600 setup.
Im having trouble keep driveshafts in it now. Now I know im going to have problems. Geuss I better get some MIP ones. |
Well I stole the sidewinder out of my other crawler to put on here to get it ready for the 3 cells. I put it in the radio box. It doesnt fit unless you take the heat sick off but I didnt want to do that so I just trimmed them all down just a tad. Doesnt take much at all. I took maybe a 1/8" off all of them and it fits great now. Also cut off the switch so I just use the deans for the switch now also.

Welp I got 2 3 cells today and it awesome with those. It will wheelie on command. Need a little bit bigger pinion though. Still need some more speed for my liking.
Did run into a problem though. Ever since I put on the Sidewinder ESC its been loosing power. So now Im going to pick up a CC Bec tomorrow and that should fix it up. Might even throw on my buddies 4600kv motor tomorrow to see what she does. Might ave a video tomorrow. |
The SW have been known to have BEC heat problems when run on the full 3s voltage. Especially being in a sealed case and powering a high-torque servo. I'm sure a UBEC will fix that right up. Do you still have problems with the truck getting stuck on things?

I had issue with mt SW trying to run a jr 9000t servo on 3s. I just threw in a ccbec and all probs were gone, plus I can run 6.5v to pep that servo up! This is in a 2.2 rig, so the tires are bigger and weighted more.
