Finally, race video of my Losi 8 2.0's

Hello guys,

I figured I'd start a new thread here, I finally remembered to bring the video camera to the track and got a friend to take some video of my new 8ight-Te 2.0 and 8ight-e 2.0. The video is clips from qual rounds and the A mains. All focusing on my vehicles. I trimmed it as much as I could. Have a look (watch it in HQ for the best view) and let me know what you think!

Nice! That thing looks great, performs great, and kicks ass. Nice driving!

Electric Dave 06.14.2009 10:38 PM

Thanks, I had some early kinks to work out but now the truggy is a real animal. I'm very pleased with the performance. I'm getting the hang of buggy too, this year is my first time on a buggy (lots of past experience in MT/Truggy...) I didn't expect them to be as different as they are but I actually think driving the buggy makes me faster in truggy.

E-Revonut 06.14.2009 10:40 PM

I like the turn on the wall, pretty tight track with lots of jumps from the looks of it. Looks like some nice driving though and some good passes in the air!

I'm waiting on my friend to put together a video from the pro series race last week and then you guys can see the sick track I get to race on.

Electric Dave 06.14.2009 10:43 PM

You race up in Rome? A crew of guys from our track went up...they had a blast. They all shaved a few seconds off their lap times by going.

You either love or hate the wall. There wasn't too many guys there this past weekend so there isn't much "dragrace" video when you are screaming down the straight trying to beat someone, that's when we get over the top.

E-Revonut 06.14.2009 10:49 PM

Yup I race in Rome @ CRC. I seen a bunch of Conn. license plates in the parking lots. I haven't gotten to race since the pro series cause of rain but in practice I seemed faster as well. It's amazing what just watching how some pros drive will help you to learn how to drive better. I watched how the top drivers handled each section and I was def doing it wrong!

Bondonutz 06.14.2009 11:51 PM

The Truggy really looked dialed ! Excellent job of wheeling around the track, you definitely showed some skills. Great Video.

BL domination! What do the nitro guys think?

I like the wall just because its different. Never raced on a track that used one. Oh and I will be back down to pinshop soon. Going to do the point series with wolcott on friday nights for the slash/sc10 race.
Dave, time for you to get down with some Corr truck racing. :gasp:
I will also be back for 8th scale but I dont know when since I usually work the weekend. Kinda sucks since I bought an 8th scale brushless and only raced it once. Still love the car though.

nitrostarter 06.15.2009 12:58 AM

I'm getting tired of saying this but damn that video just really shows the power of BL!! Those nitros couldn't touch either buggy or truggy out there. Nice driving too!! That really helps make the nitros looks bad...

A local track has a wall like that, its really fun to see the "dragrace" going on and how many people go over the top... quite funny! But its a definite challenge in the track especially when the "heat" is on you.

I wish I could have gone (had a wedding that day) but our local guys had a blast and all came back better racers.

They all hate me...actually several of them have jumped ship! When I started going to this track last year I was the only conversion. This year we have a good 7 or 8 guys plus half the MT class is running E-Revo's.

I'm happy the CORR trucks are brining so many people to the track but I just can't get into that class. I do hope you come back for the 1/8th soon. We need you there to put together a full A main of just electrics!

Hee hee....

e-mikey 06.15.2009 08:19 AM

Yeah Dave is fast.

The nitro guys at our track dont say anything out in the open, but I'm sure they talk about us behind our backs. ;) It's funny, I think a lot of them feel it's all car, no driver. It just so happens that most of the better drivers at our track drive e cars.

I can guarantee that Dave would place the same, nitro or e.

I'll be heading up Thursday unless it rains... I'm running the 8ights (buggy/truggy) this week :)

Here is the track layout... for anyone curious. Not the best video (9yr old) and it doesn't even stay on me the entire time but it gives you an idea.. not my best driving as my car was not tuned at all correctly, I tossed my truggy rear shocks on it by mistake so the ride height was off and the springs were wrong, basically a mess. After I swapped out and fixed the height she was handling MUCH better. I just squeezed into the a-main for electric buggy, stood next to Losi's Billy Fischer for that one.. heh he was 2 laps over me per main (3x 10min A's for electric 1/8)

What a great video - nice quality, nice music, and great content. One of the best clips I've seen in a while. Great job!

BL_RV0 06.15.2009 09:26 AM

That video was awesome.

Hee hee....

that would be nice. looking at my work schedule and family things it looks like I cant make a saturday till august(unless I skip the rchr trophy race on the 27th).

I would love to race 8th scale more (pinshop was my first 8th scale race) but need to find racing on a week night. Thats why I will be doing sc10 racing on fridays, also was doing 10th scale buggy at rchr on wednesday nights.

not the same but when your schedule is limited you will take what ever you can get. dont worry though. the hyper 9e will be ready for the first weekend I have off.

Awesome threads Dave!

I'm new to 1/8 & 4WD, so I'm looking forward to getting my 8T roller and applying your experiences to it and my sheltered 2WD experience...the learning curve is looking steep but fun

Keep the updates coming, especially how you overcome and upgrade...excellent stuff!!

Brian 06.17.2009 08:57 PM

i was just like you, theres not that much of a learning curve. 4wd is actually easier to drive, and with the 8t youll catch on quick ;)

PBO 06.18.2009 07:19 AM

Thanks Brian, a friend with an 8ight buggy finally convinced me (what was I thinking previously??) to step up & after having a few drives of his it was hard to argue the point

I'm trying to sponge up what I can...build thread is coming

You are going to be surprised, your 2WD experience will come through in helping you. Especially in truggy

nitrostarter 06.18.2009 11:00 AM

I will say, get a Losi or maybe a AE. They are just steps above the other brands in performance. I can contest to this. I had a Jammin CR and CRT, now I have a 8T and 8B (1.0) and the performance is much better than the Jammin, handling, weight, distribution, setup, everything....

The 8T 2.0 is great and much better than the Jammin. However I feel that the XT8 '09 is better than the 8T 2.0.

Sorry, maybe I shouldn't say that . . . just going to start the debate

Topas 07.08.2009 02:06 PM

2 me now BL is the way!! my track here has a little slash class going.. i run my BL slash in the monster trucks class for more time to test my skills..i just got a jammin X1 CRT. jr 8711 steering servo // mamba max 2200 motor and speed controller 5 cell 4000 mah 35c lipo battery zeilke racing body truck was clocked at 70 mph on a wheelie insane speed comes also with spectrum receiver 2.4 dsm 2.0 controller .. i am just getting used to the usb cable and stuff running from my computer.. just for a rc truck..never would have seen this coming along when i was 10 years old!

swiftneed 04.20.2010 08:45 AM

On the discussion with the servo and spring setup, Dave you just changed to a 1.0 setup and what other items I am going to pick up a 8t 2.0 what should I change out the box in your opinion? Should I just run it as is. I am not racing

Electric Dave 04.20.2010 09:11 AM

Truth is, if you are not racing, I'd only replace what brakes. Thinking back to my build, I replaced the steering spring and plastic with 1.0 items. I also replace a slew of the short screws with longer ones. From there I did the rear hubs with KHZ models to get the bigger bearings. That's all I did to start. Since then I've done all the bearings, fluids, I put the losi Aluminum front knuckles on (broke the stock plastic 3 times...) and over the winter I added a bunch of hop-ups like the lightened outdrives and aluminum diff inserts. Just drove it for the first time on Sunday, felt quite good. Whatever you do, enjoy it, it's a great truck.
