Hyperion 720i... confusing..

Hey guys, just got my 720i in the mail finally... K, when I go to start a charge, is it balancing as well? I would think so, it's just that I can't access each cells voltage when charging...

Or is the 720i taking good care of me? thanks.

As long as you have the balancing connector connected you should be good to go. You do need to be in balancing charge mode, but the instructions should point you in the right direction.

The mode button should allow you to swap into the balancing screen when you are charging and the up and down keys should allow you to view each cell individually and all of them as a whole.

This info is based on the hope that the 720i works like the 610i...

hit the menu buttom to show balancing and then up down to cycle screen through display - one of them shows all cells at once...

Failing that I'll buy the charger from you...

zeropointbug 06.25.2009 10:57 PM

Oh yah, I got it now... catching on pretty quick.

You would think they could make the menu's more straight forward, with a few extra buttons?

thanks

Once you get used to using a hyperion it gets pretty easy. I still screw up the lipo setup screen, but I just make a bunch of profiles, I do have 2 of the 610i chargers and 2 of the 12310i...

NoControl 06.25.2009 11:03 PM

Besides I didn't think you could charge a lipo on a hyperion (newer models) without a balancer connected, I know my 610 won't even start the charge.

zeropointbug 06.25.2009 11:20 PM

Yah, it says it can't charge without one. It will for an A123 pack however, as far I can see. Is this correct?

Arct1k 06.26.2009 06:36 AM

No it just says balancer advised - Press enter and you can ignore it....

johnrobholmes 06.26.2009 08:47 AM

yep.

To access the cell voltage screen after charge starts hit the far left button once then up once.

zeropointbug 06.26.2009 11:34 AM

Yah, looks like you can ignore it, the manual says otherwise however...

It's left twice, and then up once Johnrob...

Also, why is the charger cutting the current a regular intervals for a couple seconds at a time? Is this normal?

Does this model have cycling feature?

Arct1k 06.26.2009 11:35 AM

Normal so it can get an accurate voltage read at rest

zeropointbug 06.26.2009 11:41 AM

Okay, thanks, I figured that was why. Probably to read cell Ri ?

zeropointbug 06.26.2009 12:39 PM

Oh hey, what should I be charging these Hyperion 25C 6s 4350mah packs at? 2C, or 1C? I can't see anywhere on the website where is mentions charging rate. thanks.

Arct1k 06.26.2009 12:55 PM

Personally I always charge at 1c regardless of the label - you don't say what version hyperion you have

Arct1k 06.26.2009 12:57 PM

HYPERION G3 CX can supposedly be charged at up to 5c

zeropointbug 06.26.2009 12:58 PM

Hyperion VX, sorry. "EDF/3D aerobat"

Arct1k 06.26.2009 01:02 PM

G3 VX are 35C discharge 5C charge

LVX were 20-25C discharge and 1c charge

zeropointbug 06.26.2009 01:09 PM

Ya, I have two 3s G3 4200/35C packs, and 3 last gen 6s/4350 25C/40C Enerland packs, which I'm talking about. These packs are all brand new, BTW. I'll just stick to 1C charging, just to be safe.

You confused me here saying they were 25C yet VX packs :)

G3's are fine up to 5c but as you are limited to 250W you are limited to about 10amps (on 6s) or 2.3C. If your PSU can take it 2C should be fine based on what Enerland says...

I still aways charge at 1c though ;)

zeropointbug 06.26.2009 01:48 PM

Who said LV?

I havn't gone up to 5C charging yet on the G3's, just under 3C, or 12amps. According to the psu, I should be able to charge at roughly 18amps for a 3s pack. It would be nice to have a 6s pack instead though... I was just thinking about the future, I would like to get the e-revo chassis soon, so two 3s packs are what I would need.

Arct1k 06.26.2009 01:52 PM

Meant VX and 25C - VX are 35C

zeropointbug 06.26.2009 01:56 PM

Yah, last gen, and new gen

johnrobholmes 06.26.2009 03:02 PM

Different button pressings on this model? I wish they would quit changing the menu operations.

nitrostarter 06.26.2009 03:04 PM

LOL well they have to make some changes on newer models...
