Project 4-stroke Savy

Managed to get a few minutes of running in today before the rain started. The engine was having problems holding a tune, i found out after that the carb was loose. I didnt have a camera person either. :frown:

Very cool!

I like that it sounds more like a chainsaw than a nitro R/C :003:

crazyjr 02.05.2006 12:03 AM

Poconoblmaxx. what size engine is that? I saw a revo powered by a .52 OS FS and it flew. If you want to read about it i can throw you a link to a thread about it. Let me know

poconoblmaxx 02.05.2006 12:29 AM

Its a magnum .52. You mean this post?http://www.rcccs.com/index.php?showtopic=683 Thats where I got all my info.:027:

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 02.05.2006 04:40 AM

Dude, that thing is sweet! It looks pretty torquey. How fast does it go? What's up with the smoking drum in the background?

poconoblmaxx 02.05.2006 10:05 AM

I got a GPS speed of 35mph out on the road. The drum is the the neighbors contribution to global warming.

nbcaznmaster 02.05.2006 10:52 AM

lol, u call it a success or failure? It didnt perform as good as 2 strock nitro, but it was still cool.

poconoblmaxx 02.05.2006 12:08 PM

It can outrun a hyper 8 port and a stock s-25 so I would call it a success. Most nitro Savages dont come anywhere near 40mph like everyone thinks.

*edit* RcDriver May 2005 Savage SS 4.6 speed as tested 35.5mph. Cant be to bad if I can go as fast a 4.6 Savage.

NBCAZN. the 4 stroke is like putting a 8XL in a savage, its not about the overall power(which is great) its about the torque you can(and sometimes can't)use to power out of turns.

Pocono. Yes thats him. I watched a vid where he was running against a field of truggies and while he didn't win, he didn't give anything up against them.

'zactly, most nitro mts are lucky to see 35mph in reallity. Also if you get power hungry you could always add a little forced induction.something you can't do with a 2 stroke.

squeeforever 02.05.2006 10:05 PM

gustav, why do you say that? i have a revo that is pushing 50.

Gustav 02.05.2006 10:12 PM

Just based on experience.i only managed to get 40mph out of my LST with my 11 port sirio .27 which is a peachy motor. Is it a big block in your revo?if so i can see how you get 50mph but if it's a small block then that's impressive.i can't be bothered with nitro at the moment, you can't use a starter box with the LST and pull starts do my nut.

boss 302 02.05.2006 10:12 PM

i would also like to no why he says that. iknow a guy that has outran a Raptor 660 with his tmaxx

Gustav 02.05.2006 10:15 PM

what's a raptor 660?

boss 302 02.05.2006 10:17 PM

its a 4-Wheeler with a 660cc engine(pretty powerful) it often twists the chasis when it takes off

poconoblmaxx 02.05.2006 10:23 PM

New vid!! Still running like poo. Hasen't ran right since I threw that con rod.
Savy at the park

Gustav 02.05.2006 10:26 PM

oh you mean a quad/atv? was he running a turbine in that t-maxx?

i'm not anti nitro in anyway BTW (just to be clear)internal combustion will always be my passion,i tend to like a few more litres of capacity though.

It sounds cool.

A super charger would be nice,i don't suppose you have any plans for one,or space?

I hope we will see a supercharged 4-stroke with fuel injection from O.S before long.Their wankel is well cool.

yes an atv and no turbine the atv was being driven by a 200lb guy the t-maxx had on ofna .21 in it. the truck was ment to race and nothing else

boss 302 02.05.2006 11:00 PM

nice vid by the way 4-stroke definately sounds better IMO

squeeforever 02.05.2006 11:32 PM

gustav, it was the stock 2.5 with a rd-logics pipe and a acncm head on 30% nitro. oh, and by the way, if you are familiar with the yamaha banshee the raptor is the yamaha equivilent but a 4 stroke.

MetalMan 02.06.2006 12:22 AM

Sounds like it's farting :027:. It's fast though!

Gustav and Boss. the reason the revo can be capable of close to 50 is because of different climates, different tuning (maybe), and the fact that the 2.5 is capable of near 50,000 RPM redline. Plus the revo itself is very light compared to other trucks, which means the power to weight ratio is higher than other trucks.

I never disputed the fact that the modded revo could hit 50.in fact i'm not at all sceptical of this.but in my origional post, when i say monster truck i'm thinking 1/8 scale 5+kg,and i still maintain that most MTs never see the exciting side of 35mph.i said that's impressive for a small block which it is.

i do remain a little sceptical that a t-maxx can outdrag a 660cc atv,beyond the first 20 yards or so anyway:010: :027: .
