A new 8ight-T 2.0 is born

Not quite the build thread that others (Dave) have posted but...

Feel free to offer tips if you have them

magman 07.18.2009 09:50 PM

very nice build

BL_RV0 07.18.2009 10:05 PM

Looks good. I like the angled bullet connectors. You can mount your switch in the radio box. Just extend the wires a bit and shrink/ziptie them to the rx wires.

Kcaz25 07.18.2009 10:15 PM

What is going on with the extra cap? Just adding to the bank?

PBO 07.19.2009 01:26 AM

I've got a TRX mount coming for the switch & I thought the extra cap might just be a good idea? the V2 has had plenty of Rustler speed runs through it

I think I'm stuck for out of the way cap locations? would an alloy brace work as a heat sink on a cap?

This shows the battery plugs. I'm going to mount some CF for the TRX to mount on, which should also raise the lowest motor wire above the rear CVD, it's a little close

looks good here are some pix of my 1.0 conv. my converted 2.0 is in the mail, cant wait!!!!!!

OZ-RUSTLER 07.30.2009 03:12 AM

Nice conversion PBO.
What motor you using?

PBO 07.30.2009 07:18 PM

Thanks Oz, I'm using old faithful, the 1.5 - love my Neu!!

I've repositioned the cap & added an additional...a photo or two soon

Looks nice i just started building mine what gearing u running? I read somewhere robinson 48 an 16

PBO 08.02.2009 08:23 PM

I'm running 48/20, which is about the limit for my 4S setup I feel. I've given it the speed run torture test on grass, 2 x 3300 packs back to back & everything ran as warm as I like

I went to the track yesterday & noticed the MMM glitch at startup...it chirped but had no steer or throttle for about 15 secs. It came good & I was nannaing it around for a while, then mid jump (a small one) I lost throttle & rolled forward for a heavy thump on it's lid

Closer inspection showed a fet loose inside the MMM, it was easy to see because the MMM was in half! despite cable ties

Not sure if Castle will look at as a replacement but I'm thinking of an RX8. I may be forced to use my MM until resolved

cavy 08.03.2009 10:08 PM

Yeah that rx8 motor looks sweet  Did you have to grind down the chassis to run that 48 thooth? I ask because i just picked up the robinson gear and it hits the bottom.

I didn't need to but I'm using the Losi spur & I'm not sure if the RR is larger (I don't see how it could be?), which kit are you running?

cavy 08.04.2009 09:22 AM

I got the race roller. Yeah it's rubs at the bottom.

JThiessen 08.04.2009 02:07 PM

If it rubs, grind out the chassis so that it not longer rubs. Wont hurt anything.....

PBO 08.04.2009 03:09 PM

I ordered the RX8 to replace the MMM which is on it's way to Castle

I'm hoping the Tekin will give me a similar experience to other users

PBO 08.09.2009 03:18 AM

OK, the RX8 is in & looks very nice...haven't run it other than a few laps around the backyard

I love the ability to tune in-situ without having to drag the laptop around. I got the software also, so that's the next step before a good solid proving run

I'll post some pics soon

I included 2 x 1000uf caps also

PBO 08.12.2009 07:39 PM

I gave the RX8 a very light run last night, it's very smooth with the Neu, no cogging to speak of

I'm having trouble running the software though, I updated the firmware but it won't let me open & just prompts me to update. I may be retarded but this seems a problem...tips anyone?

Looking forward to some real runs this weekend

PBO 09.07.2009 07:59 PM

Well I gave into temptation & bought a big battery the other day...speed runs are the plan. Sorry about the poor image, I only had my phone with me

http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/w...h_Image003.jpg http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/w..._Image0041.jpg

I knew how big the G3 6S 6500 was when I bought it but I must admit I was still surprised by the dimensions & weight when I opened the box

I've only given it one light run after swapping springs (f/grey, r/purple) & it handled better than I expected...it'll never work well on a track but speed runs & bashing in wide open areas it will be fantastic

Think I'll be employing an Eagle Tree before I get too serious about the speed runs though

zeropointbug 09.09.2009 11:36 PM

Yup, that is big! lol And heavy too... 1000 g.

That pack should provide more power than you could ever use... I like it.
I am running twin 3s 4200mah G3 packs in my racing revo and they are wicked. I feel like throwing my other 25C enerland based packs away. They feel like a 6.5s pack compared to the enerlands.

Nice build.

Kevlar 09.10.2009 08:27 PM

Nice job, I just grabbed a 2.0 and started tearing the rotten nitro parts off, and will be using my pletty/schulze as long as the pletty isn't to long at 80mm. I really like your angled plugs too! Great job!

PBO 09.15.2009 04:44 AM

Thanks guys

Well more torture testing last weekend also...took a few days & went bashing in hot conditions with an 8ight buggy & ERBE

I still use my 'little' TP 4S packs for jumping etc so they had a lot of use on the MX tracks we had access to...perfectly balanced, long floaty flights (60'-80' length) doing doubles downhill, tight powerdown jumps uphill...gradient was +/- 35 degrees

I ran the 6S in the short grass paddocks after putting a few 5S packs through prior. I really like the 6S (especially after a quick suspension tweak) & although I was conservative with throttle EPA & gearing, it is monumentally quick & forget about run times - not even a consideration!

By the time we had the triangle course pegged out in the paddock the ERBE had literally gone up in flames so it was down to the buggy/truggy battle, with truggy coming home the winner in contest & reliability also

Gotta say, I love this thing!
