Looking Good!!! I see that you have a Losi 8T with the Tekin RX8/2250KV how are you like that combo? I'm thinking on going with the Tekin RX8/2250KV for my losi 8ight-t instead of the Mamba Monster combo.
|
Nice clean conversion
|
I see that the antenna is coiled up and wire tied down do they work that way alright.
|
that is a sweeeeeeeeeeet set up. my co-racer:whip:/basher is geting his rx system tommorow. i cant wait to b$$$$ch him with my mmm 2200:lol:
|
Thanks!
I like the tekin combo very much! Even with my 2 broken Rotors so Far, it's a nice small controller for it's performance. I race in Europe and they al like to see this kind of setups..... This weekend the Maiden Run.... Arno |
Nice clean conversion!
Lol, if you used bigger tires and removed the wing, you wouldn't need a turn marshall. If if flips over, just keep on driving, just in reverse. |
any chance to weight it? i just got my MBX5-T to under 4250RTR
|
What a beauty. Nice work man... I think some blacked out rulux halfups would compliment the body nicely.
|
Don't you love building up a badass truck with all-new parts? ;)
Awesome truck, I bet it handles well. Have you driven the nitro version? How does your electric version compare? |
Actually i didn't drive the electric version either:lol:
Tomorrow i'm going for a maiden run on the circuit of Mach-1 in Helmond, Holland. I'm planning to post some pictures of my new body to:yipi: |
You mean the one in your avatar?

looks great

Result was incredible and the car handles very well. After 4 batts the Fun was over....TEKIN ESC DEAD:surprised: My spare ESC is mounted en this Weekend I have a Race in the Belgium Champion Ship. :gasp: |
Wow looks great!! Any idea why the esc died?
|
sweet shane about esc
|
that sucks my buddys tekin rx crapped out also. hopefully they dont have a long turnaround time my mmm is still great on my 8ight:lol:
|
Got my MBX6T Tekno conversion today. I did some homework tonight and I am going to post some pics soon....:gasp:

I attached a few pictures of our "stock chassis" mbx6T conversion - will be ready for sale in a few days. Everything bolts onto the stock chassis - no mods required. The battery/esc tray is pocketed on the underside for wire routing, and drilled at the ESC location for the Tekin RX8 as well as the Traxxas MMM hold-down. Built in rx mount with transponder mount is similar to our other offerings. A unique and handy feature of this kit is the fact that removing 12 screws allows the owner to completely remove all the electronics from the chassis without unplugging or unsoldering anything. :)
|
Nice job Mike! That kit looks great!
|
Hi, just curious on why you went the Tekno route. Were you not happy with your conversion?
|
Is the battery tray and esc holder all in one.

The ESC bolts onto the back of the battery tray. All one piece. Makes for easy removel for cleaning/maintenance. 4 screws hold the steering/rx/transponder plate(plus 1 screw for the steering linkage). 2 screws to loosen the motor from the motor mount(or 4 screws to remove the whole center diff assembly). 5 screws for the battery tray and all the electronics can be removed without unplugging or unsoldering anything. The entire "power pod" can be removed in about 1 minute(maybe 2 or 3 if you take your time).
The battery tray has quite a bit of machining on the top and bottom, actually - starts out as a 1 pound, 4oz piece of plastic and ends up to be 3oz total weight when complete. :) |
And yes, these trays will show up as an option in the battery tray listing as I complete them(have mbx6, mbx6t and 808 in queue now and will add losi and other vehicle specific trays in the future).
I will bundle the motor mount, battery tray and servo/rx plate into kits as well for easy shopping. :) |

Sorry for the confusion. I still don't get it, or did I miss something. |
I do not make the Tekno kits found on Impakt - Tekno is the manufacturer of Tekno kits(ImpaktRC is Tekno's retail site).
I also make chassis kits(RC8 now, but Mugen, XRay, Kyosho and Odonnel in final stages of development), but they are RC-Monster kits, not Tekno. I also make parts that allow conversions of most vehicles using the stock chassis, though(started this way and will continue offering ala carte products along with bundled kits). |

My original question was directed towards BrushlessRacer—who did go the Tekno route (and why he did). |
Magman mis-spoke - because he knows that I am also working on a full chassis kit for the mbx6T, and he likely thought the picture was this kit. I chose to convert the stock chassis first because it will be less expensive, faster to produce, and works rather well(all while utilizing the stock components, which are excellent quality).
|
hahahaha confusions.....
Mike the chassis looks Nice, a bit simulair to my first "stock" conversion. The reason for me to go Tekno is the way it's balanced. I use the big heavy hyperion vxg3 packs and with the stock chassis I had to move everything to one site to get it balanced. But I was also not happy with the ESC mounting position. (See pics earlier on) With the rcmonster conversion you need two lighter 2s packs to get it balanced voor Racing. For Bashing it would be fine maybe. Both are relieble and well done.... |
I think some of your "balanced for racing" ithoughts are perhaps just thoughts. The Tekin ESC weighs 2.6oz total weight - moving this from one side to the other on a truggy will hardly move the "balance point" at all(2.6oz is 1.6% of a 10 pound truggy).
If you weigh the 4s 5500mah g3 pack(21.2oz), one of our battery trays(2.5-3oz) and the ESC(2.6oz), the total weight is 26-27oz for the left side of the chassis. The steering servo, transponder, center diff and mounts, motor mount, Tekin truggy motor, pinion, chassis braces, steering linkage are all on the opposite side and weigh a total of 24-25oz on the MBX6T. This is about a 2oz difference and results in less left/right weight difference than a tank of fuel(which is full in a nitro car at the beginning and empty at the end of a race usually). With the ESC behind the motor as you had it, the balance is within 1-2oz. Neither is very perceptible during driving with a truggy (I am a racer and am pretty particular myself with proper setup). Now, proximity to the center line of these weighted items plays a role in the actual left/right balance, but the battery(heaviest item on left side) is similarly positioned vs. the center line as the motor and servo position on the right - the result is a quite well balanced vehicle in the end. Add to this the fact that the completed Tekno car will typically weigh 8 or 9 oz more than an RC-Monster converted car, and the "balanced for racing" argument can sway either way. I haven't done the math on Tekno's kit for balance, but even with a stock chassis conversion, my parts balance out pretty well on the truggy. My regular battery tray can also be moved fore or aft on the chassis to further tune weight bias(front/rear) for additional tuning. I will be curious to see what your race results yield. Tekno offers quality kits, and their kit descriptions invoke racing confidence(as any product description should). Lap times determines the race winner, though. The Tekno strategy typically yields a heavier car with a well planted feel. The clutch can smooth an otherwise erratic trigger finger as well as impede "pop" over short jumps. The result is usually a smooth transition from nitro, and a well planted ride. Our kit is a bit lighter, faster and more nimble. Personal preference and the end users ability to tune the chassis will also play a factor in the end results. Either strategy can win on race day, but I don't believe there is a appreciable "balance" advantage with either kit. :) |
Mike,
Thanks for your replay....All good facts.... I Like proper setups too But I just want to say that my own conversion on the stock chassis was a little unbalanced. That's the reason i tested it with lighter batteries to feel the differance. It was also the reason that i place the controller on the right side. It's not that bad, but the way it handles was different. With the 5500VXG3 pack the car had more steering to the right as to the left. Maybe my battery tray was havier than yours:yes:. No thouhts but facts in my case. I just want a perfect balance in my car like your conversion. I like testing new nice stuff too... The Tekno conversion is nice and clean too. I will go for a testdrive later this week to feel the difference. Maybe I don't like it and will go back to the Rcmonster style setup:lol: (I'm not going to use the clutch, but longshrank) Arno |
