Shock setup for bashing..

Do you guys have a suggestion fir shock oil weight to let my e-revo handle some bashing and jumping? Any additional suggestions?

JThiessen 08.02.2009 09:17 PM

I run 50wt and variable damping pistons in the rear, along with the second stiffest springs.

Bondonutz 08.02.2009 09:57 PM

50wt oil,Silvers Front,Pink Back

Best setup on or offroading is 70wt oils all around, variable dampening installed with #2 pistons and Blue rear sliver front springs. If you don't jump much or just hit really small jumps you may want to run 60wt oils, but if you have big old jumps around like I do you'll love the 70wt oils w/ vdr

Thanks guys.. I'll try some 70wt... she's bottoming out pretty hard ever from a small jump...

Get some springs too ! the stockers are part of the problem cause there to soft.

dave_mackinnon 08.03.2009 02:13 PM

I know i have some spairs, I'll check and see what I have 'in stock'...

dave_mackinnon 08.04.2009 11:30 AM

Hmm.. The truck has Integy rocker arms installed.. I see there are long-travel rockers available.. which of course makes a lot of sense, given my desire for less crashing into the ground...

Does anyone have any idea which one's these are? P1, P2?

my e-revo doing alot of nose diving ... im using the LONG TRAVEL ROCKERS AND PUSHROD SPACERS with front silver and rear blue spring on 60wt oil on all corner and Varable Damping Piston #2 and the valve on top ... I cant really see how to fix this ...

dave_mackinnon 08.08.2009 03:41 PM

I think that part of why the Revo works so well on the track is because of it's ability to dive, roll and squat.. makes driving it less abrupt..

Unless of course, you are referring to nose-diving while in the air?

Jason 08.08.2009 03:42 PM

Yes when I try small jump and more higher one ..

dave_mackinnon 08.08.2009 03:47 PM

What do you do with the throttle when you launch it?

Jason 08.08.2009 03:52 PM

nothing I tried with some throttle and without and same thing

Bondonutz 08.08.2009 04:14 PM

When the truck is nose down in the air give it some throttle, the spinning tires will help bring the nose up
When the truck in nose up in the air give it some brake, slowing the tire spin will force the nose down.
I had the blue springs on the back mine and didn't care how it sprang the rear up, went to silvers front and back and she jumps sweet now (for me and my application?)

Jason 08.08.2009 04:20 PM

do you have your front and rear pushrod links on the middle hole on the arms ? and do you use more preload collar on the rear then the front ?

Bondonutz 08.08.2009 04:45 PM

If your talking to me, I have mine in the inside hole. But My Revo is set up for major jumps and hard bashing and running 7" tires.
My preloads are set at 1/8" from the top of the shock in Front, Rear is set about 3/16" from top of shock.

BrianG 08.08.2009 04:45 PM

To properly stiffen up the suspension, you have to use thicker oil AND firmer springs. Just doing one won't work ideally. Soft springs with thick oil will cause the suspension not to rebound quickly at all. Firm springs with thin oil will be bouncy.

dave_mackinnon 08.08.2009 09:26 PM

If you are using the variable damping pistons on the rear, then perhaps you are getting a little too much 'spring' and it's popping the rear up. Try switching to a linear piston and see what happens...

shaunjohnson 08.09.2009 04:22 AM

for heavy bashing i run silver front and blue rear on the P2 rocker set.
80wt rear and 60wt front and #2 pistons.

you have integy parts....yukey (imo)

Kevlar 08.09.2009 10:36 AM

I tried integy piggybacks when I first started my build, not doing any research on the company, they were garbage, leaked from the start. They look good, but thats it.

Not speaking for everyone here but I beleive the forum general consensus of Integy parts is that they are all garbage.

dave_mackinnon 08.09.2009 02:20 PM

Fair enough.. As I said, the truck came as you see it.. I have already bent and subsequently cracked the rear body mount tower after a hard landing on the rear bumper... Nevertheless, it DOES look funky! hahahaha...

I'm waiting on the variable pistons to try some of the setups suggested..

Bondonutz 08.09.2009 03:30 PM

Installing a set of those pistons in mine today, My ESC has a problem though. Might have to rob a M.M.M. from another truck ?

Jason 08.09.2009 07:25 PM

one of my rear driveshaft was twisted maybe it cause a resistance and for why I always do nose diving ?

Bondonutz 08.09.2009 08:18 PM

Is the slipper locked down ?

Jason 08.09.2009 08:45 PM

slipper is loosen

dave_mackinnon 08.19.2009 04:07 PM

Just and update.. pistons should be here today..

Wash bashing anyhow yesterday.. bent the yukey shiny front bumper mount huge.. Not loving this Integy stuff...

Do you guys have suggestions for a front bumper than can handle a good nose-dive or two?

Bondonutz 08.19.2009 04:10 PM

Yes, The Stock bumper.

shaunjohnson 08.19.2009 05:30 PM

anything that isnt in-terd-y

JThiessen 08.19.2009 06:11 PM

I got rid of my bumpers many many years ago...

dave_mackinnon 08.20.2009 12:15 PM

I should have known something was up when I got the truck and it came with a spare bumper mounting bar.. Geez..

RPM needs to me one of their WIDE bumpers for this beasty!
