Neu 1515 Heatsink with cooler?
Hi
Can anyone advice me where to get something like that? That simple thing seems not to be that easy... |
Why do you want a heatsink w/fan for a Neu motor? Do you have a smooth version can? If so, why? :tongue:
Generally, you should never need a heatsink/fan with a Neu, even a smooth can version, if run within typical circumstances. You need to tell more about your setup, what motor (# of cells, and Kv.), vehicle, gearing, weight, temperature where you live. |
You mean a water cooling jacket, or just a normal finned heatsink for a smooth can neu?

It is 1515 1.5d 2700kV in Emaxx, MMM on 6s2p a123 cells. Gearing 21/68, overall about 16:1 as far as I remember internal of #3905 emaxx. Weight by 5kg. On sunny day (30deg centigrade), whenn killing my batteries Neu gets quite hot, I would like it to live as long as possible and drive without cooling brakes other than changing batteries :) |
That'll be why you need it- the 2700kv is an amp hog, you shouldnt run it on that much voltage (equal to 5s lipo), 4s at most except for short speed runs with cool down periods.

Thanks man. Voltage is ok, a123 drop down quite a lot under pressure, 2200 was to slow for me :) When I geared it up, it was hot too.

76*C = 167*F.... Im so used to Fahrenheit now that Centigrade or Celsius means nothing to me hardly... :lol: |

167F is not that hot, within the safe limits, but personally I would not like to run that hot day in day out. So, yes, I would get one of those heatsinks for it, you should not need a fan, however, and even if you did use one, it will likely break soon anyways. |
Yeah, I will get it, one of heatsinks and high rpm fan on it. Good is, that autumn is coming and outside temperature will be much lower, which will let me have fun longer.
I don't really understand one thing, people run 2200kV geared for this speed and claim to have lower temperatures, I have checked different motors within kv range 2000-2700 and gearing vs. kv for the same speed gives similar temperatures for me. Why should it be different? Eagle tree logs would say something, but I don't have logger. |
lower kv and higher voltage= lower temps due to less amp draw and amps is the amount of electricity flowing, voltage is just the "pressure" behind the electricity, im using the old water hose analogy lmao im a electrical engineering major what can i say lmao

+1 on the heatsink too, make sure ur drivetrain is smooth ie no binding, cut some holes in your body one in the front and one behind the motor, gotta have air flowing cross that motor, screw the fan!!! a proper setup should run cool ie 100-140F on the motor, if you have a MMM don't worry bout temps the fan takes care of it if it gets too 150F(which it shouldn't with a proper setup), depending on your C rating on the batts should be ambient temp to 120, i live in oklahoma with 90% humidity and 100F ambient temps and my motor runs about 140F, esc 120F n batts 120F, of course its a little zippy 5Ah 25/35C, my True RC 8Ah 10C runs bout the same temp, don't let ur packs get over 130F, if they do don't freak out but if they puff then short circuit the pack and post a vid!!!
