what truggy roller for my mm/2200

I bought a mamba monster / 2200 for one of my e-maxx's but am thinking about getting a truggy roller to put it in instead. would be mainly for bashing but may take it to the track just for fun on practice days. I would like a easy install, either one made for brushless or one with a easy/good conversion kit available. the lhs is very pro losi and has a great 1/8th scale nitro track and it looks like fun but nitro's not for me. before I sink a fortune into a another e-maxx... what is a good truggy roller, easy to put my combo in that is good on a big track? and tough enough to hold up to the power and bashing?

thanks for your input, Ron E.

8ight T because they are durable and IF you happen to break anything there are many parts available.

Mugen mbx-5T Almost bomb proof. You can pick up a used one cheaply if you hunt around. I am putting that exact combo in my mbx-5T

Ron E 08.29.2009 09:51 PM

thanks guys, i'll check both of those now, search here and google. :mdr:

is either one available as a roller? or do I have find a used nitro and ditch the motor? also who makes a nice conversion (easy) ?

brushlessboy16 08.29.2009 09:53 PM

check rctech.net for all the best deals.

both rollers go all the time for under 200

THANKS...

you guys are very helpfull.

The conversions are really quite easy...couple of options. Either buy a complete kit which is a bit more work seeing as you have to remove both ends of the truggy and put the whole thing together...which is still easy...or do as most of us here have done...

1. remove old nitro junk
2. remove center diff and replace rear support w/new motor mount/support
3. instally batt. tray...may require drilling a couple of holes
4. mount everything and program esc and done!

This way is very easy and quicker IMO.

thanks, now the search begins...
just registered at rctech.net and will start searching. i'll also check the lhs they race truggy's there also.

I have bought 4 vehicles off of RC Tech. You have to be persistent in your search if you have a particular truggy in mind. I was looking for a mugen mbx-5T for a while and none were around...the all of the sudden 5 appeared w/in 48 hrs. and it was just by luck that I found the one that I wanted.

Good luck w/your search

RC8-T is another good one.

more choices welcome...

i'm definatly leaving the e-maxx's alone and putting the mm combo in a truggy, this looks like fun. just what i need another rc project :diablo:

don't tell my wife, everytime she see's me driving a new truck or buggy I tell her it's the same car with a new body... :mdr:

I can vouch for the XT8 being strong, the only thing I'd upgrade are the rear hub carriers. Then you'll have a rock-solid car that is quick around the track too.

I didn't find the Losi too durable, and the plastics develop slop very quickly.

The MBX5-T is much like the XT8, and is very durable, and still pretty fast round a track.

I haven't had much experience of the RC8T, but Mike does sell a full conversion for it.

Personal favourite is the XT8, but the MBX5-T or RC8-T would be good too.

thats good to hear, the xt8 also seems to be available used at a good price. thanks for your input.

Caster F8T roller is an option, 1/8 Truggy designed for electric with dual battery
setup.
I wanted to try a truggy just for hacking around so went with the cheaper lesser known
option of the Caster. You could probably buy two for the price of others, parts in the US
should be ok.

looks like a great option, looking strongly at this one.
F8T-FK FUSION PRO, nice looking truggy and no conversion needed, ready for my combo.

thanks.

GT35R 08.31.2009 11:32 AM

Yep, I'm running the same MMM/2000kv combo in mine on 2x3000 4S packs.

The roller is cheaper and pre-assembled. Depends how hardcore you want it.
Thicker and more alum on the pro but the roller is still pretty strong.

trap121 08.31.2009 08:44 PM

You have a lot of options.
Most importantly.....Take your time and dont jump into anything. Do your research on the seller. I have bought a few things off rc tech with no problem. Just recently I got scammed for 100 dollars for a motor. I sent the money and he never shipped the motor. The guy had 100% positive feedback too. I know a few more people that have got scammed recently too. You think using paypal is safe but its really not. I filed a claim with them because the guy never shipped the motor. The sided with me on the claim but they said there is nothing they can do about my money :diablo:

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Good luck on you search. Let us know what you decide to go with.
