servo
these look good, but i don`t know how they can get this price. I'd go for http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9040

I'm kinda partial to ACE servos. Built well and have outlasted other "brand name" servos (Futaba and Hitec), and cost less than those brands for the same specs...

Ok, so the short answer to your question is no, its not a good single steering servo. It's low torque, a brand nobody has really ever heard of, and at only 8 bucks, your gonna get 8 bucks worth of running out it.
For a single, your going to need 200- 250 oz-in of torque. Otherwise, your better off running the stock setup. |
no one has heard of tower pro? :gasp:
|
Yes I have read about Tower Pro servos from airplane guys, they hate them. Bad centering, not that strong, premature wobble of death. That is for the 995. The new 996 is supposed to be better and those issues are supposed to be gone so I ordered two from HC and will see if they are any good. The 995 Tower Pro or Toward Pro has they are also labeled as are supposed to have a purple stickers on them. That servo you linked has no sticker on it and is referred to as a ''T Pro''. What is T Pro? Never heard of that one. I heard of Tower Pro and you seem to think the one you linked is one but I say it's not. Looks like a Turd Pro to me.

Cheap & cheerful is a rare thing....
Some of the digital servos hobbycity sell are said to be better, and they still cost a lot less than brand-name items, but you're gonna have to pay a bit more of a realistic price- I believe $50-70 for a good hi-torque model. Believe me though, thats a great price unless you want to get something like a pair of analogue servos to use instead- try ebay for hitec hs645mgs; pair of those for $60 will net you around 250 in/oz od torque, enough to turn the wheels on most MTs, but you will have mounting issues in a 1/8 scale I reckon... |
You can either get a couple $8 servos (+ shipping) and replace them in a short time, or get a decent servo right off the bat (and has LHS support). Either way, you're gonna pay for it. The decision becomes "Do I buy right once and save money, or buy wrong and end up spending more in the long run?".
BTW: the MSRP price on those ACE servos is about 20% higher than the actual selling price. I use the DS1313 in my XT8 truggy and it works just fine torque/speed wise. |
those 995's are junk i had 2 of them and they got loose as a goose rather quickly
|
acually look on ebay for some good used airtronics servos. the 94358 and 94359 servos are pretty good, i run em in my truggy and they last a while, they can be had for around 30-40 bucks

can't use E-Bay they steal ur money maybe i can cancel that order and get this one instead

how does ebay steal your money?

you can buy just as easily lol, they dont take your money for that
|
still you have to pay them a monthy fee to buy stuff
|
Are you sure? There are selling fees that you have to pay at the end of each month, for all the stuff you sold during the month (cumulative), but I dont believe there are any buying fees/ buyers premium like in a real life auction...
Not being willing to use ebay severly limits your options.. |
Actually they give you money (ebay bucks) when you buy from them..

The EBAY fees and charges are for selling only, When you purhase you pay only for the item and the shipping for said item ONLY. A 8.00 servo is junk regardless who makes it. Go cut some more lawns and save your pennys and buy yourself a qaulity servo in the $75.00 range. You and your Revo will be happier in the long run. |

InsaneRC there's a reason why those servos you linked us to are $20 or less. Because they have low-tolerance components, poor quality control, and zero service and support. Not a good investment of your money.
I'm agreeing with the others, if you want to go single servo in a Revo you are going to be spending at least $50-70, and more if you want something that's the best newest model. I learned very early in this hobby that buying the cheapest stuff will only become frustrating and cost you more in the long-run. It just breaks, and then you end up buying the better gear anyway. Save yourself the headache and buy a quality servo right from the start. |
I use hxt12kg servos which are the same as the one you linked to iirc. They work. That's all I have to say. They work and I use them. Kinda heavy, loud, and power hungry, but they work.

How about one of these? Would one of these do the job?
http://www.hyperion-world.com/produc...ct/HP-DS20-FMD I just got one last week and I think it is a really good servo and cheap ($AU52). A fair bit stronger and quicker than an MG995, well it was compared to my rebadged MG995 I had. Also a lot more accurate, and barely under/over shoots, really good centering. Although a lot more than $8, but in after a while, you will probably wish you got something better. |
