Are the ICE HV controlers coming soon?

Are the ICE HV controlers coming soon? Like say this year? or will it likely be longer?

I've been keeping a watchful eye out for this also.

The new ICE Controllers coupled together with the Mamba Software will be the absolute controller for me.

I asked Patrick if this is something we could expect for Christmas and he said "should be".

I'm aware that stuff happens, but I will continue to watch and wait.

It's hard to imagine a 50 volt ESC in the form of the ICE 160 that's truly capable of 160 amps and capable of 12S operation.

Finally a ESC like this!!!

BrianG 10.06.2009 05:15 PM

When they do come out, I imagine 1/5 scale builders and high speed freaks will be snapping them up! No more shoe-horning an airplane ESC into a car!

crazyjr 10.06.2009 05:19 PM

Will it be across the whole ICE line? or, will it be only the 160 model?

nitrostarter 10.06.2009 10:27 PM

I would like to see the Mamba Software available for the ICE controllers that are already out.

Aaaah, I see what you're getting at!

The Phoenix Ice 100 can handle 100amps at 8S!

If the Programmer could come up with the Mamba Conversion to the Ice Hardware, it would be a simple matter of updating the firmware.

Download, update, Blam! 8S Controller with working reverse and Mamba Brakes!

Not only that, but let's not forget about the DATA LOGGING!

I would buy a Phoenix Ice 100 NOW IF they were firmware upgradeable.

I have everything here to do a 8S setup for my E Revo except the ESC.

Hmmm............shall we bribe them with Pizza?

we're going to need alot of pizza...

The ICE 100 should be well capable of handling a 1000-1500kv motor on 6-8s....

My g4 maxx would love 8s and a 1515/1.5Y...

3.6 volt per cell average on 8S at 100amps is 2880 watts!

That's right at 4 HP!

Of course, my E Revo setup would be alot milder than that, but think about the efficiency.

nitrostarter 10.06.2009 11:26 PM

Definitely efficient! They should run extra cool!

I'm looking into some 4s packs right now to prepare for this adventure!

I have two sets of matched 4S packs that fit the E Revo.

They are Flightpower 25C 3700mah. These are good for 92 amps continuous, 185 amp Bursts.

I could gear 14/52 with a 1500kv motor and still surpass 40mph. I'm sure the acceleration would be nutso.

Let me know what Lipo options you find out there.

lincpimp 10.06.2009 11:42 PM

Some of the lower mah 35c hyperion g3 packs would be extra nice for a hv setup.

I plan to run a 1521 2y with 10 3200 30c fp lipos and the lt10s esc. This would be in the 6x6 lst geared for 35-40mph tops. I had also thought about running the lt10s with a 1527 2y I have in a 5th scale savage project, and lutach said to give it a try and report back. That is a 100 amp esc and 100 amps at 37 volts is a decent amount of juice!

I will be interested to see what CC comes out with...

MetalMan 10.07.2009 12:35 AM

With regards to CAR software on the ICE 8s controllers: are their FETs rated at a high enough voltage to allow 8s operation while using motor brake?

BrianG 10.07.2009 12:38 AM

I'm sure it can be, provided there are enough TVS modules to handle those peaks...

crazyjr 10.07.2009 12:04 PM

The reason i asked about the whole line, I want a 6s capable esc for a mini e-revo. I also don't think i need 160 amps on any other esc, though the thought of the power is impresseve

BrianG 10.07.2009 12:39 PM

For the mini e-revo? I'd use a MMPro. Aside from the data logging, it will have pretty much anything you want for that vehicle.

I'm looking for a small 6s esc. Even though its not the quark65 in size, the MMpro will still be quite large on the Mini E-revo. I think the ice 50 6s would be perfect for what i plan, If the programming can crossover

BrianG 10.07.2009 05:08 PM

Well, the MMPro is very close in size to a MM, if that tells you anything. Most of the height is due to the fan assembly, and if being used in something that small, heat shouldn't be an issue even without the fan. I guess it depends on how soon you plan on getting the ESC; I would imagine the MMPro will be out sooner than the ICE ESC.

I understand on the size, and thanks for the size update. I am trying to go as light as possible, due to running two 3s packs. I'm not sure, but i might run my 1200basic xl lehner 540 based motor. In my Gt conversion, it pulls only 40 amp peaks, so no problem running it there on a 50 amp esc

Honestly, I can wait, I do not have the funds now but later this or next year i should be able to set this up. I am looking to make a chassis similar to the Mini E-revo one in the brushless section
