Which truck is the ultimate basher ?

Hi !

I'd like to by a monstertruck och truggy to put an extreme bl-setup in :O) like 6-12s lipo and big neu motors !! So now i need a duarable truck plattform to start with !! but witch one ? flux ? savage xl or what ?

wallot 10.25.2009 03:30 PM

LST . savage has weak diffs

88gtanotchback 10.25.2009 03:51 PM

weak diffs that are easily upgradeable. the rest of the savage is very tough!
diffs options are cens, which require modifying, or the "bullet proof" ones HPI recently released which are very tough. i have both and they hold up perfect, when properly shimmed.

Muggy = monster truggy

Not with the new diffs available for it.

I run a flux on 6s, and went to nitro savage diffs shimmed a hair tighter. I pulled them out a couple days ago and they are still PERFECT. I completely blew up stock flux diffs, but the nitro gears worked fine. HPI is sending me the bulletproof diffs so I will run those next summer.

Just clarifying that savages do not have weak diffs, I would be more worried about a revo.

Lst diffs are better than the savage. I like the lst layout better than the savage. The flux is pretty good stock, but the lst is better when converted.

I also have a muggy, and I almost like it better than the lst. If I had to choose I would go with the muggy. Hadles a little better for my bashing style.

+1 on the Muggy- it has all the epicness of a big truck, yet the superior handling and layout of a truggy from what I've read and seen.

bigboi146 10.26.2009 01:42 PM

Hyper ST!!!!

I like my SavageXL alot. Big, tough and drives over everything. Not the best for high speed handling tho. Turning radius is terrible, and I've replaced the phillips head screws w/ hex heads where ever possible. Stock diffs blew, but the CEN diffs have held up for a long time. Have not used the new bullet-proof diffs, but the machined ring gear and pinion will be even stronger then the cast CEN R&P. The spiders on the Cens are still stronger tho. Overall is a really easy truck to work on and good platform for mods. Parts are dirt cheap on ebay.

I had a muggy briefly I was going to convert. I drove it for 1 gal or so as nitro, but some things really pissed me off about it, so I sold it. I hate how Losi mixes metric and SAE screws. You are always guessing which is which. Some screws are just odd. Who has ever seen a 5-40 screw before? Try finding one in the LHS. I needed 7 different wrenchs to get to all the screws. I didn't like the servo saver either.

Other than that tho it was a nice truck, clean layout and handled really well. Probably better suited for as a big truck that you want lots of speed out of, but if you don't want a full blown truggy. Won't have the ground clearance and climbing ability of a savage, but will destroy it in more open or high speed drving.

i have owned both a brushless savage and a brushless lst2

it lst2 is by far a better basher and if you ever wanted it be be faster and handle better all you have to do is muggify it

i say the muggy as well, shredding tires will be your only problem, drivetrain is solid and it can handle taking a tumble even at 13-14lbs with. plenty of upgrades available.

I know its Halloween but "Witch" truck?

I'd go for a truggy over a MT for resilience personally...

speedy 10.27.2009 04:39 AM

Sorry ! i ment "which" How do i edit my post's ? i can't fint any edit button ?

E-vil Maxx 10.27.2009 04:54 AM

I will take my flux with the bulletproofs diffs over anything

speedy 10.27.2009 08:19 AM

How big are the batteyboxe's on the flux ? and what's the partnumber for the bullitproof diff's ?

DwightSchrute 10.27.2009 09:49 AM

i would either go with a 8ight-T 2.0 and brushless convert it or i'd blow a s#it load of cash and build a gorillamaxx g4 with UE parts and a 1521. both are gonna be monsters.

speedy 10.27.2009 12:36 PM

How about the associated mgt 50 ?? does that truck have a strong driveline ?
it's a big truck with lot's of space for lipos on that chassie

CEN Nemesis 7.7 or GST 7.7. Both are bullet proof. No diff upgrades needed, nothing needed other then make sure no other trucks are around cause you will kill them....lol

had one as well only weak point is is plastic slide shaft going to front diff, also ran over a adult Jack Russell Terrier the hole body, she was chasing the tires and the whole truck ramped her when about a 2ft in the air and kept going, she also rolled back over and kept on chasin

The nemesis comes with the steel shafts.

I have owned and own full blown Gorilla e-maxx, mamba powered Losi Aftershock, E-revo bl edition and a Summit, and the Aftershock is by far the best basher of those.

I canīt even imagine with all the improved parts on the LST2 or XXL

So + 1 for Losi.
