Black Friday Sale....

Oh my.....http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...le_motors.html

They pretty much had me with just the sale....then I read this...
Quote:

Neu-Castle 1520 1Y 1600kv motor is ideal for Monster trucks. This is the bad boy! Think in terms of a chipped turbo diesel...
I think they are intentionally trying to lure me in....

nitrostarter 11.25.2009 02:15 PM

I noticed the "chipped turbo diesel" line as well. Great analogy! and Hook line and sinker for me as well. I guess I need to find a good Muggy...

JThiessen 11.25.2009 02:28 PM

Yeah, I can use that in my LST.

I was suprised to see the 16.8V limit in the chart though. I thought it would be the same as the 1515 line.

magman 11.25.2009 02:40 PM

The 1518 1800kv would be sweeeeet in my truggy. It states that it has more torque than the 2200...like I really need more tourque!

I also noticed that all of the new motors were only good for up to 5s

I'm not sure of the reasoning here, unless there is a 30K rpm limit.... Or they imposed the 16.8v limit to keep the amp draw down some they are runnable on the MMM in most applications.

I can't wait until the ICE HV160 comes out!

magman 11.25.2009 02:45 PM

Probably just trying to extend longevity of the motor by not pushing it's limits

Pdelcast 11.25.2009 02:48 PM

Nahh, it was a typo --

Only the 2650 motor has a 4S limitation. The other motors are 6S.

I'm gonna get our web guy to fix it now...

BrianG 11.25.2009 02:49 PM

I know many larger motors tend to have lower rpm limits; I wonder if it's the same here?

Edit. I guess not, lol.

Also, "connector" is spelled incorrectly in their chart.

Grateful to hear this! That 4s limit was starting to rain on my party.

Patrick: Any testing on these motors on over 6s? like the 1717 or 1520 on 8s? I'm thinking those setups could be real speed demon for some top speed running.

Chart updated.

Also, the 1512/1.5Y was listed as 120A, it's an 80A motor.

Pdelcast 11.25.2009 03:06 PM

AND YOU CAN GET A CONNIE T-SHIRT for only $7.00!

Cool. I saw this earlier and was a bit surprised.
I have my 1521 1.5Y tho, just need a CC 8S+ controller ;)

Nice job tho. You guys are doing some great work.

Who draws the chicks?

_paralyzed_ 11.25.2009 03:10 PM

Thank you castle!

Arct1k 11.25.2009 03:23 PM

Very nice Patrick - Pretty please get some over to rcdriver I may get Greg or bob to convert their Baja yet!

BrianG 11.25.2009 04:14 PM

Patrick, why do you guys have a current rating for your motors? I've seen many people stuck on that part thinking the motor will pull that exact amount no matter what. IMO, it just creates confusion and leads to improper conclusions.

bdebde 11.25.2009 04:26 PM

1520 ordered!

That's a very good point - - the current rating is the absolute maximum 2 minute rating -- we should point that out.

Unsullied_Spy 11.25.2009 05:20 PM

1717 on order, too bad I didn't know about the shirt before hand

Who cares who DRAWS them, I wanna know who poses for them!!!!

BrianG 11.25.2009 05:52 PM

I don't really care who draws or poses for them, just send her over to my house (just a few hours drive - I'll pay for the gas) for a private "photo shoot". Of course, getting the g/f to agree to that may be a bit of a challenge.

Yeah, that's always the hard part....

brushlessboy16 11.25.2009 06:42 PM

only a 6s rating on the 1717??

with that low of a kv, shouldn't it be higher?

BrianG 11.25.2009 06:42 PM

lol, I just won't tell her. Shhhh. Although she just might notice.

It is listed in the air section but doesn't say if they have ported the mamba software for braking.

Maybe it's 6S since that's the limit of the MMM.

These probably aren't meant for 4S operation? (I have a 2200 now) Is the torque difference noticable? Is the amp draw on 4S/6S lower than on 2200?

Difference between 1717 and 1510 1600kV?

Not yet -- but we are actively working on a Mamba version of the ICE-160HV.

lincpimp 11.26.2009 02:01 PM

Does the 1717 have a std 25mm bolt pattern with 3mm threaded holes? Might be a good sub for the 1521 1y in my lst... HEHEHEHE. More power!

gixxer 11.26.2009 02:40 PM

good to see all the new motors are available. even better to have the special thanksgiving price. this should make a lot of people happy.

hyper9e 11.26.2009 03:11 PM

Castle just stole my sale from Tekin, I was about to order when....wait...is that a 1800kv motor:yipi::surprised::yipi:

do you think it will fit on The Dude's mount?

i would love to drop one in an XXL

suicideneil 11.26.2009 07:50 PM

According to the website, it does have standard 25mm mounting pattern & 5mm shaft, so if theres clearance around the motor to adjust the mesh, I see no reason why it wont fit the TDR motor mount...

I can take a measurement and see how it would do...

Should be, a 1521 fits pretty good, and it is 44mm diameter, the 1717 is 5mm larger all the way around... Lots o torque!

Semi Pro 11.27.2009 02:19 AM

i ordered one, we will see how well it fits............ if not i guess i will be makeing a new mount for it

anyone see any good deals on a 6cell pack around 40c with about 6000mah?

fatkidjoey 11.27.2009 10:21 AM

Semi Pro 11.27.2009 01:14 PM

JThiessen 12.03.2009 09:46 AM

Did anybody that ordered get a shipping confirmation yet?

bdebde 12.03.2009 10:58 AM

I got order confirmation, no shipping info, but I almost never do from Castle. Usually shows up a week or so after the order confirmation

suicideneil 12.03.2009 03:54 PM

I just got the order confirmation too- says it should be shipping within 2 weeks.

In addition, Christy upgraded me from Priority to Express shipping. I like Castle even more tha usual....
