2. Nitros
3. Dead batteries
4. Guys who think they know your car better than you do
5. Hack drivers
6. Noobs who wont admit they are noobs
7. Over priced components
8. gluing tires
9. installing diffs backwards
10. silicone oil getting everywhere.

BrianG 12.06.2009 01:35 PM

"Local" hobby shops that don't have ANYTHING I need.... EVER!

I don't care who you are but we all have to unanimously agree that rebuilding shocks sucks major ass

Yeah, I hate that too. Sometimes I'll do it just to help support the LHS, but 99% of the time, I'll just order it myself and let them know it.

shawzie 12.06.2009 03:04 PM

13.1 Attitude of regulars at the track towards noobs. Very similar to trying to learn to golf....

scarletboa 12.06.2009 03:23 PM

when little kids ask if they can drive your rc.....i made a huge mistake once and as soon as i handed the tx over, the kid grabbed it tight so he wouldn't drop it. that's wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't squeeze the throttle. sidewalk at ~40mph can really take it's toll on an xtm nitro x-cellerator. it cost me $50 to fix it, then i sold it.

Only happened to me once and NEVER again.

Non RCers (and yes some RCers) who think elecrtrics are "cute toys"...

Let me hit you in the ankle with it, we'll see how cute you think it is then :mdr:

bdebde 12.06.2009 03:38 PM

Guys at the track that race three different classes and never corner marshal!!!

suicideneil 12.06.2009 03:42 PM

In no particular order:-

1. old people who want to talk to you about their old truck whislt you're trying to concentrate on driving.
2. crowds of people who insist upon standing infront of you so that you cant see where you're truck is headed as you drive past.
3. seaguls (dive bomb the truck & you, I swear...).
4. Traxxas forum noobs who have achieved the status of TurnBuckle Jnr by basically spamming & talking non-sense; take an electrical engineering course, then I'll take advice from you.
5. People who have taken a degree course and insist that they know more about proper r/c setup, even though they dont actually own a truck or BL system etc ( posting something like "bla blah IR^V blah blah" is all well and good, but nothing beats actual experience or Eagletree data).
6. People with 99% Integy trucks who insist its solid as a rock; why no scratches or dirt then? Because you never do anything to put it under stress duh, so ofcourse it looks good as new..
7. Noobs who ask 'what am best motor/esc/lipo' when there are already 3 threads asking the same question, on the same page.
8. Noobs who say 'my truck doesnt work, whats wrong?' without posting any other info to help diagnose the problem.
9. People who quote pictures ( or lots of pictures ), especially when they are posting immediately after that said picture post ( I know some forums where doing this gets you warning points... ).
10. Customs charges, though specifically the ~£10 handling charge that Royalmail or Parcelfarce slap on your goods after the Vat & import fees; you would have had to handle it regardless, so whats the handling charge for? Bunch of cock-knockers.

Yep, think that covers it quite well...

E-Revonut 12.06.2009 03:56 PM

I like this thread! I will have to come up with a list of my own now

scarletboa 12.06.2009 04:43 PM

1. people standing in front of you while you are driving. (it is a constant thing for me):grrrrrr:

2. little kids bringing their little POS walmart cars to you asking you to magically fix them with no parts

3. people who keep telling you that your turnigy packs and chargers are junk and their maxamps is the best

4. tire and body prices. the way i drive, they don't last long either:whistle:

5. when people crowd around you while you are bashing and asking questions like "how much did it cost? wow, that's not worth it. you're an idiot for spending that much on an rc when you can get one at walmart for $50. the crowds are a bigger problem with nitro and the walmart car comparisons are worse with electric.

6. people running in the path of your rc and then laughing at you when you crash it after you have to swerve to avoid them.

7. everyone with traxxas trucks (especially the slash) seem to have the same frequency. the red one

8. people who bring their t-maxxs to you in a million pieces asking you to fix it for them. "why won't you fix it for free? you can take parts needed from your t-maxx roller"

9. when you drive to a bash spot, and then realize you forgot your transmitter

10. my bad luck with electronics, especially speed controls. damn vxl escs...

wallot 12.06.2009 05:53 PM

1. " How fast does it go?" followed by "How much does it cost?"

2. People who take racing too seriously. C'mon it's just a hobby, all u can win is just $10 cup what will just take space on a shelf and collect dust.

3. Paying 19% VAT for orders over $200 from outside EU. Added Value? Where? For what?

4. Gluing tires (except VTR truggy)

5. Having to wake up at 4am to be at the race 7am after 200+km drive

6. Not being able to drink for too long after getting up at 4am and racing whole day

7. Cleaning up my home workplace as after trying to find a part I really need for 4 hours.
8. RC parts packaging. Who needs every single screw in separate plastic bag. Just put a pile of parts in a box - it's a racing kit and I know how to put it together :yipi:
9. RX Lipo quaility. They are either junk or too big.

10. Bearings. Just make a bearing that can survive whole racing season and does not melt my diff box after 25minutes of A-Main. :na:

and a bonus one - Tiny set screws in the driveline - If you loctite them, you will never get them out. If you dont, they will fall out in the middle of a race.

magman 12.06.2009 06:38 PM

My list..

1. while rebuilding diffs/shocks and the wife interrupts you and when you sit back down you forgot if you put the O ring/small washer in

2. no tracks in my area...nearest one is 2 hrs. away:diablo:

3. shipping price for a new body...the bodies are bad enough

4. after rebuilding shocks..they leak

5. my buddy who thinks his nitro truck is faster than mine...even after I already beat him in a race:yipi:

6. my LHS that ONLY stock traxxas parts

7. forgetting a small but much needed part 20 mins. after placing an order and having to pay more shipping for a $ 4- part

8. NOT HAVING ENOUGH TIME TO PLAY WITH MY RC'S

shaunjohnson 12.06.2009 07:56 PM

1. MAXAMPS!!:rofl::lol:
2. noobs who wont take advice from more experienced people
3. traxxas's marketing (duuurrrr lets sell nimh batts with the MMM combo!)
4. nitro fags who are always telling you how much better nitro is until you smoke them with BL power then they go have a sook!
5. cleaning after a mud-run day (that slurry mud you get when dust is mixed with water, gets EVERYWHERE)
6. people asking if they can have a go when you know they cant handle an RC let alone BL, makes you feel bad inside when you have to say no.
7. club members who wont put their hand up for anything (poor old canteen lady had to take up her job again because no one else put up their hand)
8. marshals not turning up on time
9. rebuilding anything/all parts
10. high initial cost
11. "how fast does it go? how much does it cost? oh that's not worth it you fing tool"
12. people trying to run it over with their 1:1 after they realise they cant win the drag race.
13. forgetting the spektrum after driving to the track
14. everyone else's above reasons!

These need to be on my list

eovnu87435ds 12.06.2009 09:17 PM

1. Those people who are overly cocky saying that their ride with the latest novak system will beat the pants off of every car in the world. These are also the same people who go "Castle Creations? What kind of dumbass knockoff brand is that?"

2. NOBODY CARRIES OFNA PARTS IN ANY LHS!

3. The people who see your castle/tekin car with non-maxamp batteries destroy everybody in a race, and when they ask you what to buy, they disagree with you because the magazine they read didn't tell them to.

4. The 10 year olds who do those "custom" paint jobs to their r/c and try and sell it like it was made of gold

Hmm, sounds like socialism is not working for you Neil... Time to move to Belgium... Everything works perfectly there.

This does suck, finding ofna parts anywhere is a pain. Save for Nitrohouse of course.

I have to say the worsr part of RC is the constant droves of idiots asking how much my car/truck cost. I usually say 5-7 grand, just to see the looks on their faces. But often they say that is ok, since the car must easily be doing 80mph (always geared for 45mph). Sometimes I tell them I got it from walmart, on sale for 20 bucks. They then race over there to get one for themselves.

Yeah those Ivory-inlaid rotors knock the price up!

Hehe 20 bucks at Walmart- tell them it's on the aisle with the fat chick in sweats, they'll never be able to leave......

rawfuls 12.06.2009 10:16 PM

I just say somewhere online.
And when they ask for the price, I say about $300.

The majority of the people that do ask me though, drive up in their cars (since I'm usually bashing in the street, as I live in a very isolated neighborhood).

All of the above and parts that disappear like magic right in front of me. I put it right there in front of me in plain vue on the table, I turn around to get something else and when I come back, the part is gone 'cause I just can't find it.

E-Revonut 12.06.2009 10:50 PM

1. I hate my lhs and it's employees that tell me my RC8T is junk, basically casue they carry Losi and Traxxas
2. When you need one small part and you have to buy a whole bag of parts to get the one little thing you need
3. losing body clips
4. The cost - of everything!!!
5. Tires that won't stay glued with BL power and beadlocks that don't hold with BL power
6. Having to drive an hour each way to get to a track to race my truggy cause the lhs 10 minutes away tells me there's no interest in off road racing around here
7. People that ask how much? how fast? etc
8. People that tell me I'm crazy for how much I spend on RC ( I actually kept track this year and someone who buys a pack a day of a name brand cig at a gas station spends more a year than me) at least I have something to show for it
9. I hate not having enough room to have a real work area
10. Not having a basement to play in - I want to build a track for 1/18 in a basement somewhere!

Joe, you wouldn't be talking about Big W's would ya?

The ones who never have my TRAXXAS parts, even tho they sell TRAXXAS...

Chuck is a good guy, about the only one who'll at least admit he doesn't know jack about cars and trucks.

Worst one is that Mike dude with the glasses- he is clueless on everything!

I've seen that dude make more bad recommendations....

A few years back we'd go there for heli night in the winter. They hardly ever had basic parts, like BLADES. We have bitched countless times for them to reorder stuff, they will, usually months past when we needed it.

The other one is Redneck in Fulton, and they're not much better.

Fookin' irritating!

Yes sir, Walt's Hobby is who I'm referring to! Chuck is a good guy but I think the best one there to deal with is Todd. Todd will straight up tell you the truth, as long as no one else is around he may even tell you where to get something cheaper. He knows his stuff and will do what he can to help you. Pretty much everyone else is only into heli's there. As far as not having the Traxxas part that you need...Been there done that a few times. "we can order it for you" is old, I can order it myself and pay half as much. I only go to them if they might have the part and I want it NOW.

I still haven't been to Redneck, wouldn't mind checking out there clay track, but Fulton is 30-40 minutes away. If I'm gonna drive that long I'd just as well go to CRC where they actually know what they're talking about and if they don't know about something and I do, they're willing to listen to what I have to say!

Sorry for the hijak but this is part of what I hate about RC!!!

Gee 12.07.2009 01:49 AM

People that ask me if my brushless rc is gas or nitro. What? Even though they were out the day before when I was running the loud ass nitro up and down the block. This is especially true for a group of young under achievers in the niehborhood. I've exlpained nitro vs brushless to them before on several occasions. Loud, smoke, burns you when you flip it over, etc. Quite, fast, etc. Depressing that these little people are being labeled as: America'a future.

I didn't see BrianG list this so I am going to help him out:
FANS

AND this ones for MisterCrash
All the different size splines on servos and that each require a different count or size of servo horn. I agree.

I 12th or 20th what ever the count is now. The LHS that sells 1/8th scale rcs but doesn't even carry a 1/8th scale clutch bell. Plenty of trx parts though.

The ridiculous cost of some things in the hobby. Come on folks 35.00 for a pair of 5x10 bearings? Fioroni Tractive Differential - 204.99, the look on your wifes face would be priceless.

When one side of the hobby puts down the other side. Escpecially from the peson that has never tried the other side. Yeah I'm talking about you! If your running with the brushless folks there's no need to say ill words against the otherside to fit in with us. Hell we all know the brushless side has a higher intellect, is more mature, rational, and genrally deals with things in a more logical manner. That is what makes us better and we don't have try and prove it by childish name calling. They don't need any help from us to degrade them any farther then they do by theirselves. I talk from experience. As soon as I break out a Nitro to run for a while. I get a little more stupid, and don't think as clearly. For example I may mess with the lsn and the hsn at the same time. Dumb huh? I rarely cuss when I am running my brushless setup, but hell I blurt out words that would make a two bit whore blush and run away when I break out my nitro rcs. Sometines the foul words can last up to five minutes non stop. On top of all that negative, I tend to slouch more when running a nitro RC. So just leave the names calling to yourself and relish at the though that their 10 minutes of fun surrounded by 20 minutes of preperation H and all that is swollowed up by the hour of frustration that turns out to be a bad glow plug. Then some ice cream on top, there is the after run cleanup procedure that brings a smile to every brushless rc owners face when they unplug thier li-po for the night. That has more satifaction then any verbal assualt.

Enough rambling.

Good thread topic Ben. Getting some of this off our chests should help make the holidays more enjoyable for those around us. Let's grab our good buddy Mr. Jim Beam and the chainsaw and go cut down that Christmas tree that's been giving us problems. If it's in your house then who's to say a Birch Alder isn't a Christmas Tree.

Freezebyte 12.07.2009 02:50 AM

Boils down to 2 questions

A: How fast does it go?

B: How much does it cost?

Gets really old, really fast......I do love seeing people cringe when I tell them about the cost of my Flux and its accessories. That usually shuts them up.

I am tempted to fly to Washington state just to see you "try" to get a nitro tuned... I'll bring the Beam... You furnish the chainsaw. Sounds like a good combo!
