BTW That was a heck of a game last saturday against App. State - one of the best hits of the year in the second quarter! All in all, it was a very enjoyable football game to watch, even though I was of course cheering for for Appalachian!!!

What Freeze meant to say in his earlier post was that the college in the TOWN he lives in is playing in the NATIONAL championship game tonight (Division 1, AA) against Villanova.

I too want to see Avatar.

Does Missoula have an IMAX theater? If I go, I'm definitly going to see it in one of them.

That movie looks awesome. Def will see it over the holidays.

Avatar was awesome! I'm gonna go see it again tomorroo night! It just simply sucks in you in all levels, and thats not including the 3D effect!

hope the 3D bit was better than the "UP" movie.

I am guessing 3d is the "new" thing now for movies... Maybe eventually we will get to see some naughty female bits again in movies, like we did in the late 90s early 90s...

They are hoping so. One of the few reasons left to go to theaters and not rent/stream movies. 'Course the movie only cost $500M....

The 80's were a golden era for titage in movies. The sorority raid in Revenge of the Nerds will be an all-time classic.
Damn Sen Lieberman and Tipper Gore for pushing enforcement of theater ratings. Teenagers were the ones that filled the theaters for those movies. If they can't get in bc of an R rating that's enforced, studios took out the stuff that made it R. Booooo.

Or we just snuck in :D

What I was referring to was the big censorship battles in the US in the late 80's and early 90's and how it changed movies and music (but not really music so much, even tho it was the big focus of the fight. See MPRC and Tipper Gore. I doubt you may have them, but all the CDs sold were forced to have warning stickers applied if they had "offensive" material. Basically it just turned it into an ad for the albums..

Also in this was the changes in enforcement of movie ratings. You could put out a teen movie like Porky's, which is full of titage, and kids would all go see it. The ratings were not really enforced at theaters, so 15yo high school kids could go watch a rated R movie, which was supposed to be 17+. They are the big summer theater audience.

Suddenly studios had to detune movies, bc an R rating would cut out a huge amt of the theater viewing audience. Ie, no more F bombs and no titays. :(
(Teen) movies from the 70's and 80's were full of gratuitous nudity, but not so much anymore. There are a few, but not like it was.

How did you like the 3D? Cheezy, good, seemless.. ?

I definitely want to see this movie! I think the price is outrageous though for a cheap set of 3D specs. And at the end of the movie, they tell you to throw them in a special recycling bin. No way! I have about 6 pairs of those glasses around here somewhere in hopes that some home DVDs will start coming in 3D.

Gonna be hard to see movies the "old" way now, i'll just say that. I'm gonna go see it again tomorroo night

that good huh, maybe ill take the wife out to the local theater and CPk (crab cakes in bean salsa) and check it out. If it sucks or I cant see the 3d crap as usual your fookin dead

was pretty cool.
i laughed at the end scene, the large robot-suit-clad-bad guy pulls out a HUGE machete when the gun gets smashed :rofl:
and the 3D was WAY better in this than it was in "UP".

Please bear in mind that many people havent seen it yet, so try not to give away too much of the plot/ twists etc... :smile):

Saw Avatar today and the effects were just plain awesome, the 3d was a super cool touch, the glasses could use some work though. They should have offered some lenses for my Oakleys, LOL. I actually got a kick out of the fact that they printed on the bag the glasses came in "Not to be used a sunglasses" LOL

I saw it in regular, pretty cool flick.

Finally got to see it... 3D was great, the story line was good, the 'cinematography' was excellent... The effect were mind blowing... I think I might see it again...

I got to catch a late show the other day. Absolutely awesome. One of the best movies I've seen in a theater in a long time Had that epic feel that few movies do. Last one I enjoyed in a theater so much was LOTR. 3D was fantastic, story fun, hugely detailed, rich and immersive world. Would be nice if they could continue in this world like he did w/ aliens or Terminator. A+++

Great movie, I watched it twice. But the second time threw I couldn't help but feel that the movie had a hidden agenda/message in it. I really didn't like it or feel conformable with it :grrrrrr:

A question for those that have seen it in 3D:

Do the 3D glasses fit over regular eyeglasses?

I wear regular eyeglasses and if the 3D specs do fit over my glasses there is no sense going to a 3D show instead of a regular show.

im sure they do but the ear piece may feel uncomfortable.

i ware glasses too so i just pushed em a little further up my nose then placed the 3D goggles over the top.

IDK, they might. Depends on your frames I think. I wore my contacts and was glad of it. The 3D glasses are not that big, but should fit over smaller frames.



Many movies have a deeper meaning to them. I hate to call it a hidden message as it didn't seem very hidden to me, and its not supposed to be sneaky.

After all, without deeper meanings, King Kong is just a story about a giant monkey. ;)
