G2R Bling Bling teaser pics

I just got these from the machine shop today. Can anyone tell the difference between these and the stock ones? I'll have more pics once I clean up the edges and mount them.

Coooool, carbon fiber

boss 302 03.08.2006 07:37 PM

Those look niceee!!!

Batfish 03.08.2006 07:37 PM

Chris,
Get those finished up and mounted so you can show me at the track tomorrow night :003:

Dafni 03.09.2006 01:35 AM

Nice! You got a head start on George!

The difference between yours and the stockers will be these extra two "ears" on the front upper deck, right?

Correct you are. There are extra ears on the rear deck also. Unforntunately I ran into a few problems with them so I can't post pics of what they are for. I should have it all together this weekend.

Dafni 03.09.2006 06:53 AM

Let me guess. Some kind of roll-cage?

coolhandcountry 03.09.2006 09:48 AM

I can't wait to see it together. That is cool.

CCristo 03.09.2006 09:56 AM

Not a roll cage, but that is a good idea if this was going to be a bash truck.

Nick 03.09.2006 10:50 AM

Looks really good, how would this be manufactured, what machines?

Are the ears for a Anti-roll bar?

Sylvester 03.09.2006 11:04 AM

Very nice ccristo! But 1 thing worries me, the flex, already the aluminum has a bit of flex in them, and i dont know if carbon fiber will be too durable , but in bling factor its awesome! :)

captain harlock 03.09.2006 11:11 AM

Carbon Fiber is not as flexy as aluminum. In most cases they either crack or break, but dont bend.

Sylvester 03.09.2006 11:18 AM

well than it might have cracking problems lol, the g2r is a bit more suffisticated(sp?) than normal g-maxx chassis, thats why im wondering if some if not all those plates hold up to everyday running.

CCristo 03.09.2006 11:53 AM

Nick - The parts are made on a cnc milling machine. The ears are not for an anti roll bar/sway bar, but hat is another good idea though. When I get home I'll see if i could add that.

The CF is very stiff. It's 3mm so there is no flex at all. I don't think they will break, but I'll have to wait to run it to see.

maxxdude1234 03.09.2006 03:21 PM

3mm carbon fibre will take some SERIOUS abuse! Some lovely machine work there CCristo

Assembeled pics

Here are a few pics of the assembled truck. The ears on the top plates are for body mounts. I was able to lower the body about an inch over the stock revo mounts. As you can see the bed of the body is about 3/16" above the rear shocks. I have a few things to clean up before it's fisnished, but hopefully I'll have time to do it this weekend.

That looks very nice! I see that its an all out racer! My g2r is in weight loss club, ill get some snapshots of it, im worried that the ears might snap on you under a hard roll? (lets knock on wood)

coolhandcountry 03.10.2006 08:46 PM

That thing looks like a serious racer. The low body and stuff is kicking.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 03.10.2006 11:47 PM

Very nice Chris. I love the carbonfiber, (still looking for somebody to make me some carbonfiber rims :004:), nice work. Put that thing on a scale for us and let us know what she weighs. Looks pretty light.

nitrostarter 03.11.2006 01:57 AM

Man that thing is sick! Nice design. I wouldn't mind lower my body somehow like that. Awesome job!!!

Dafni 03.11.2006 02:31 AM

Hey, this is a really good idea, and a very nice truck! Congrats!

You just gave me something to think about, Cristo. I am trying to figure out a body for my G3R these days.

Thanks for sharing!!

Jasper 03.11.2006 03:53 AM

Woo, that truck is wicked :) I like the carbon fiber and the rims!

The motor is sitting relative high in comparison with the other parts. Can't you build a center diff in your truck and lower the motor? Then the truck would have a very low CG!

CCristo 03.11.2006 07:05 AM

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Sylvester - I'm worried about snapping the ears off too :) Time will tell

JOHNNYMAXXIMA - The truck weights about 7.5 lbs without electronics (but including motor).

Dafni - The Body I used is a proline extended F350 Maxx body. It's fit's pretty good. The wheelbase is just about right.

Jasper - I'm waiting for Dafni to tell us whether a slipper is needed before I think of building a center diff tranny that lowers the motor.

maxxdude1234 03.11.2006 08:12 AM

Thats one sick truck CCristo!!! :D:D

JThiessen 03.11.2006 06:12 PM

Very nice! I love the rims...

stampy 03.11.2006 08:46 PM

 i bet that thing looks mean from a front angle shot. what wheels are those?

Sylvester 03.11.2006 08:54 PM

stampy those are hurricanes dyed in black.

stampy 03.11.2006 08:59 PM

the tires are crimefighters right? did you trim the tires or did you just stretch them over the wheels

squeeforever 03.11.2006 09:30 PM

actually i think those are the responses made by traxxas.

stampy 03.11.2006 09:31 PM

ah the tread looks crimefighter ish lol

CCristo 03.11.2006 10:31 PM

The wheels are dyed hurricanes as Sylvester said. Tires are maxx size crime fighters with the beads cut off. The beads have to be cut off because the hurricanes don't have a "normal" bead.

crazyjr 03.11.2006 10:44 PM

I was going to say crimefighters, cause i could barely make out the Proline on the rear tire

Mike.L 03.13.2006 09:51 PM

looking professional:P nice work keep it up

CCristo 07.18.2006 03:10 PM

Bah! Replied in wrong thread Oopsie
