HPI Bullet brushless ST and MT

I hope I won't get a "there's already a thread about this" reply, but I didn't find anything when I searched.

Anyone see/hear anything about these? Doesn't really look like my style, but I'm always willing to learn more before making a final opinion. Is the Sidewinder combo enough for those trucks? Seems a bit underpowered to me. Not sure how big of changes there are between the ST and MT, but it doesn't look like much besides wheels and body.

I kinda dig it, reminds me of what the 1/10th scale e-savage SHOULD have been.

simplechamp 12.29.2009 04:37 AM

I like the battery box, with some foam in there it would definitely keep your lipos safe from impact, clean, and dry. The problem is that without enough ventilation (especially with a lipo pack nested in foam padding/spacer) there could be heat issues.

It looks like a cross between a Savage and an RS4 MT2. At second glance the pic says they have a slipper clutch, so no center diffs I guess.

I'll stick with my Flux mkay....

pinkpanda3310 12.29.2009 07:48 AM

Do the new flux esc's have no fan ? Is that HPI's doing?

vader2728 12.29.2009 09:51 AM

The ESC looks like a rebadged Sidewinder... Dont think those have fans on them... This setup might be comparable  to a Stampy with VXL... The 1/10th size I think puts it in that realm... Looks like the Flux Motiv (ESC) and the Flux Warp (5700kv) combo... All rebadged Castle stuff...

rootar 12.29.2009 10:05 AM

HELL yea baby those are gonna be some TOUGH trucks, everyone knows the ls10 was damn near the toughest 1/10th 4wd basher ever made.... looks like hpi even gave you the dual shocks off the lightning GT10!

now where is the roller?

asheck 12.29.2009 10:26 AM

Seems like alot of truck for the sidewinder. But it looks like it holds alot of potential.
But, why use those crap tires on the ST version?

suicideneil 12.29.2009 01:32 PM

Do like the look of the ST version, I actually like the tractor tyres that offer zero grip on anything but mud.. :mdr:

Good looking trucks, But I have to say with all Castles good stuff out nowadays why the left over SideWinder....unlesss the price is that cheap. Now if it were coming with a MM pro then people would not only be talking but chompin at the bit waiting for the release. I believe they would be ready to pay the extra bucks as well. I dunno. I was gitty till I saw the sidwinder.....they better have a roller.:sarcastic:

Metallover 12.29.2009 02:37 PM

Looks lke hpi's answer to losis nrw 10th scale. A crt .5 and ls10. That electronic setup will run hot, but the chassis has a lot of potential.

You know what, a MM Pro and Castle's future 2200-L motor would be perfect for this! Too bad that 2200-L or whatever they call it is still nonexistent

As for the truck, I won't hold my breath. Something tells me it will be a flop in the grand scheme of things, especially the nitro version. Based on my limited experience the G3.0 isn't that great of an engine (though I think that of all small block and the smaller big block HPI engines). HPI REALLY needs to step it up and go with some decent shocks instead of two shocks per corner... this is an 1/10 after all.

Semi Pro 12.29.2009 09:26 PM

looks great to me

looks like a brushless rs4 mt2

I was wondering the same thing. Must be to stop twist on the shock tower on bad landings as the shocks meet in the centre. Either that or they are really cheap

E-Revonut 12.29.2009 09:51 PM

This truck could do well, but it's lifespan will depend on it's price! I think it's gonna have to come in at no more than $300

Bondonutz 12.29.2009 09:58 PM

Castle gonna get a lot of returns because of this truck, The truck with battery is gonna weight 6lbs and with the 4600kv motor it's to much.
As Rootar stated, It's a rebadged LS10 and it's a heavy lil' truck.

redshift 12.29.2009 10:10 PM

It does seem quite underpowered- way to make the nitro look better HPI :whip:

dood i TOTALLY 1000% agree!!! And i am owner / operator of e-savage.com for crying out loud!!! Albeit 'just' a 'rebadged' HB GT10 i am still loving its potential...

I agree. The Sidewinder has a tall order.

_paralyzed_ 02.08.2010 10:36 PM

If it has bigger bearings than the ls10 it could be useful to me for upgrade parts. The tiny bearings in the ls10 suck

BitHed 02.08.2010 10:44 PM

Good point P'D...theyr redid them for the Sav Flux so heres hoping :)

scarletboa 02.08.2010 11:28 PM

anyone else notice that these aren't on hpi's american website? maybe they trashed the idea due to the esc and motor.

BitHed 02.08.2010 11:52 PM

Not up in Japan yet either...HPI Europe timed with Nuremburg show?

Gdot 08.31.2010 09:25 AM

will this ever come to north america or do we have to get on the boat and go get one?

reno911 08.31.2010 11:31 AM

Nice looking truck, lots of little things that are nice, and lots of things that still need some design thought. If designed for 2s they could of done a bit of weight loss, gutting the extra unneeded shocks and simplifying the front and rear bulkheads. That and I really don't like the idea of three or more clips to remove a battery. Oh, and why does the MT have the ST tires and vice a verse?

Jahay 09.01.2010 07:41 AM

a mate of mine has this already.. he has tested it and given a reveiw... he says its great in every way... takes real abuse, can handle very well, BUT its motor lets it down.
these could really take off... he believes that hpi should charge a little more and supply a better motor esc combo
