Worst day ever!

I took the day off today to get some stuff done. I got my xxx sct build almost complete and I go to the lhs to get the bumpers, not in stock. Okay, so i go to the UPS store to ship out the crt.5 I sold recently, I got hit with a $30 bill on that. I give in and I go to walmart and I get CODMW2 and I get the 3 month xbox live membership with it, I get home set up a new xbox live account, and I finally get to play one game after 30 min of set up. After the game my system freezes up and I get the red ring flashing at me.....:diablo::diablo::diablo:

I know someone on here fixed red ringed xbox 360's...who is it? Okay i'm done ranting:no:

brushlessboy16 12.29.2009 03:44 PM

maxair45 12.29.2009 04:02 PM

Sounds good. Thank you, I don't think this day can get any worse so I guess it can only better...I hope.

Upper right, upper left, lower left. They said its either a hard drive failure or my power supply is bad. We figured out the power supply is fine. I must say xbox support is pretty helpful, just say "speak to a representative" so you can avoid the annoying computerized voice.
They are giving me two months of free xbox live membership for free for my inconvenience, and I have my 3 month live membership running and it isn't costing me a dime to get it fixed. They also said they will most likely just replace the xbox too so I guess the black cloud has a silver lining.

I got my 4 horizontally-f'ed up wisdom teeth taken out yesterday by the oral surgeon and now my cheeks are swollen up and I look like a chipmunk.

so its not such a bad day
similar story...

bought a novus CX off of RCT that suposedly had "a bad motor" turns out it was the $65 main board that was bad(more than a new heli:neutral:) called up helimax and there sending me a NIB one for free:angel:

maxair45 12.29.2009 10:37 PM

You really have to be careful on rct. This sell really quick there though! I had my crt.5, emaxx, and slash wheels sell there in less than a week. The xbox will be shipped out to be repaired tomorrow, its gonna suck seeing the brand new modern warfare2 just sitting there, impossible to play. At least it give me more time to focus on some projects for me(xxx sct :yipi::yipi::yipi:).

the red rings on xboxes are related to components overheating.. do a quick search on youtube and theres step by step walkthroughs on how to fix it... the chances of your harddrive going bad are slim.

better to send it in and have it replaced for free. I believe microsoft is honoring all red ring failures a slong as the unit is not tampered with (AKA....the towel wrap trick)

NvM..

gtxracer 12.30.2009 01:55 AM

It will look exactly like this:

I am still in the process of mounting the rear bumper, after that i'll be done. That isn't my truck, the only difference is I made the extended T plate and upper brace out of carbon fiber.

gtxracer 12.30.2009 02:09 AM

Ah, cool. Way to do it the way Losi should have done it :D

maxair45 12.30.2009 02:34 AM

Thanks, I tried the strike and I didn't like it at all. I refuse to work on a AE vehicle so I get the drive ability of a sc10 and it's easy to work on like a losi(plus I just prefer losi over AE so i'm happy)

and hopefully these new tires and wheels will bethere so you can run that xxx-sct truck this weekend. ill put a deliervy conformation number on it so you can have something to go by if it doesnt arrive friday and you have to have them hold it for you saturday morning for pickup on the way to your race.

the components really arent overheating its more that the system is acting as if the cpu and gpu are overheated.

the 3 rings almost always mean you just have some type of cold solder joint in either the cpu or gpu chips.

now there are cases where things are actually overheated and burnt out but thats rare on a typical 360.

but like you said go on youtube and do one of the xclamp mods on it and it almost always works as long as the 360 isnt totally effed.

will cost 20 bucks at max for screws, washers, and the thermal paste

ive fixed a grip of 360s and havent failed yet with this fix.

if you havent gotten ahold of the other guy i can fix them also.

good luck!

rootar 12.30.2009 02:36 AM

btw my sc10 will stomp your xxx-sct :na:

good deal man!

i try and only fix xbox's that have already been tampered with.. no reason to risk me trying to fix it if microsoft can do it!

maxair45 12.31.2009 06:45 PM

I went to get the shipping label and it's going to take 10 days to get to me...via email....I got ahold of the guy on here who does it and i'll send it to him, i'm not waiting 10 days.

what do you think the xclamp is? its a better solution to cooling as it adds more pressure to the components thus increasing the thermal conductivity...
i dont see how thats related to a cold joint.
